Chapter 696 Mysterious Yin-Yang Fish

Bai Qianmo looked at the chessboard again, and following the movement of the black and white pieces, she suddenly realized something.

"It's 1208!"

Gu Jueye also saw the hidden code in the chessboard.

Jiang Xiaoyu and her subordinates looked at Bai Qianmo with puzzled expressions.

"Brother Ye, how did you see the numbers on the chessboard? I can't see anything."

Bai Qianmo eagerly tried the Life Lock: "It's a hidden advanced mathematics code. You wouldn't understand even if I explained it to you. I can only tell you this: the person who set up this game of Go was not only a Go master but also a very powerful mathematician. He cleverly combined Go with advanced mathematics codes."

Jiang Xiaoyu became more and more confused as she listened.

"China truly produces many outstanding individuals. If this master were still alive today, wouldn't all the so-called mathematicians in Europe and America have to step aside and respectfully call him their ancestor?"

The shopkeeper chuckled, “Hehe, Chinese culture is profound and extensive, containing the wisdom of our ancestors for thousands of years. How can those foreigners compare? Not to mention anything else, just look at the tombs left by our ancient kings and generals. Which one of them doesn’t have ingenious mechanisms? Some of the large tombs were designed more than two thousand years ago. Even now, many of the mechanisms are still beyond our understanding and replication with our current technology.”

"Old man, I completely agree with what you said."

The shopkeeper laughed heartily: "That means you're a knowledgeable person too."

While the shopkeeper and Jiang Xiaoyu were exchanging pleasantries, Bai Qianmo walked to the safe, took a deep breath, and turned the digital gear at the bottom of the lock.

When the gear's combination turns to 1208, a "click" is heard and the lock opens automatically.

"It's open! It really is 1208. Hey, Brother Ye, this password seems to have a special connection with you. Your birthday is 1208, and the password for the Absolute Life Lock is also 1208. Haha, what a coincidence!"

The shopkeeper looked at Bai Qianmo meaningfully: "What a coincidence!"

Bai Qianmo opened the safe, and inside was a brown wooden box that looked quite old.

I was also taken aback!

December 8th happens to be her birthday, it must just be a coincidence, right?

This safe has been stored in the pawn shop for decades, and she has only just turned twenty.

Unless the other party has the ability to predict the future, how could they possibly know that a girl would be born on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month more than ten years later?

With that in mind, Bai Qianmo stopped worrying about the password.

She reached out and took the wooden box out of the safe. The box was covered with mysterious black patterns and designs.

The pictures and words didn't look like any country's symbols, which reminded her of the mysterious card from the Time and Space Administration and the parchment scrolls unearthed from the Zhou Dynasty tomb.

Although the text and patterns are different, they are clearly products of the same civilization.

"Brother Ye, open it quickly and take a look!" Jiang Xiaoyu stared excitedly at the box.

After going through so much trouble, she was genuinely curious about what treasure Brother Ye was looking for.

Just as Bai Qianmo was about to reach out and open the box, a slender hand gently grasped hers.

Gu Jueye stared at her with deep eyes.

Bai Qianmo looked up at Gu Jueye.

The other person shook their head at her: "No rush, let's leave here first."

Bai Qianmo glanced at the shopkeeper out of the corner of her eye; his gaze was fixed on the box in her hand.

She said to the shopkeeper, "Since I opened the safe, I can take this item with me."

It wasn't a question, but a statement of affirmation.

The shopkeeper looked away and chuckled.

“You are a descendant of the Huo family, and you personally opened the safe. It is only right and proper for you to take this item back.”

When Bai Qianmo, Gu Jueye, Jiang Xiaoyu and their group left the pawnshop, the shopkeeper warmly saw them off at the door.

It seems that what happened tonight had no effect on him whatsoever.

But Bai Qianmo always felt that the shopkeeper's last look at her when she left the pawnshop was inexplicably eerie.

Inside the car

Bai Qianmo held the box and slowly opened it by following the pattern on it with her fingers.

Inside was a leaf-shaped jade pendant, entirely white jade, with a crystal-clear texture. Even a layman could roughly guess from the color of the jade that it was not an ordinary piece of jade.

"Judging from their appearance, this white jade stone and the black jade stone unearthed from the Western Zhou tomb should be made of the same material, and even their shapes are exactly the same, except that one is white jade and the other is black jade."

Gu Jueye reached out and took the jade from Bai Qianmo's hand, examining it under the car's interior light for a while.

"One white, one black; one yin, one yang!"

"It looks a lot like the yin-yang symbol in the Bagua?"

Gu Jueye chuckled: "They really do look alike!"

"Although it's clear that this jade is quite valuable, it's not enough to warrant so many people going to such lengths to find it. Could this jade have some other use?"

After a long silence, Gu Jueye said in a deep voice, "This should be the legendary key that can reverse time and space!"

Shi Pawnshop

After the shopkeeper saw Bai Qianmo off, the worldly smile on his face gradually disappeared.

His face, thin as a rake, was expressionless; he was a completely different person from before.

He closed the shop door and went back into the basement.

As I entered, two figures appeared in the room like ghosts.

The two stood on one seat and the other on the other, both wearing terrifying masks.

The man sitting in his seat was staring blankly at the chessboard on the table, his slender hand gently brushing over the black and white pieces.

"Owner!"

"They're gone?"

"They've already left. This thing was kept in the pawn shop for a full thirty-five years. Now, finally someone has solved this unfinished game of chess that you left behind. They can be considered your kindred spirit."

"A kindred spirit?"

Yes, no matter when or where, his soulmate has always been only her!
