After being reprimanded by the clan elders, Master Xu was so ashamed that he never dared to mention taking over the family business again.
"Young Master, we're home!"
"Yes, Jinwei, Jinen, we've arrived. Let's get off the bus."
Bai Qianmo snapped out of her thoughts and looked out the car window.
The Yin family lives in a villa estate with European architectural style.
The car drove directly to the villa's entrance, where two soldiers were on duty.
Yin Heng got out of the car first and gentlemanly extended a hand to help Bai Qianmo.
Bai Qianmo glanced at him indifferently and got out of the car by herself.
When his hand fell empty, Yin Heng felt his heart go empty as well.
Xu Jinwei saw this and was filled with jealousy.
She proactively extended her slender, fair right hand and placed it in Yin Heng's palm.
She said shyly, "Brother Yin Heng, you are so thoughtful. You know I get carsick, and you always reach out to help me whenever we ride together."
Xu Jinwei's words made Yin Heng, who had just been treated coldly by Bai Qianmo, feel very proud.
To salvage his embarrassment, he smiled indulgently and said, "Silly girl, how could I forget what you did for me?"
Xu Jinwei felt a little better. She must have been overthinking things. Brother Yin Heng wouldn't be interested in that girl Xu Jin'en.
Besides being prettier, what does she have that can compare to me?
Hmph, growing up in the countryside, he's got that rustic air about him.
"Jin'en, when you meet Grandpa Yin and the others later, you must be polite and follow the rules. Remember, you are not just representing Xu Jin'en, but our entire Xu family."
Xu Jinwei looked arrogant, seemingly reminding her younger sister to be polite, but in reality, she was just deliberately showing off her superiority.
Bai Qianmo glanced around and then calmly and coldly looked at Xu Jinwei.
"You should first think about why you came along in the first place."
Xu Jinwei's face froze instantly, staring at Bai Qianmo as if she were looking at a monster.
Is this girl mocking her?
Bai Qianmo saw through Xu Jinwei's thoughts and smiled, "Just as you thought!"
For a large family like the Yin family, inviting guests to their home is naturally a decision made after careful consideration.
There must be a reason why Grandpa Yin invited Xu Jin'en alone today.
Xu Jinwei's eagerness to come along already seemed a bit out of place, so how dare she lecture her like this?
Faced with Bai Qianmo's merciless sarcasm, Xu Jinwei could no longer maintain her composure.
If Yin Heng hadn't been there, she would have definitely given that brat a good beating.
They're really courting death, daring to openly mock her?
Hmph, this girl really doesn't know what she is now.
If it weren't for her existing marriage agreement with the Yin family, which forced her father to take her back, she probably would have lived in the countryside until she died.
Yin Heng led Bai Qianmo and Xu Jinwei into the Yin family villa.
The spacious villa is decorated in the medieval style of O state, exuding magnificence everywhere.
"Young master, you're back." An elderly butler stepped forward.
Bai Qianmo looked at the newcomer, who appeared to be over sixty years old. He was wearing a dark blue cotton robe and black-rimmed glasses, and looked very refined.
"Uncle Chen, where is my grandfather?"
"Master is in his study on the second floor. There are guests in the study right now. Young Master, please take Miss Xu to the dining room first. Tea and refreshments have been prepared there."
Yin Heng looked up and glanced towards the study on the second floor.
"Alright then, Jinwei, Jin'en, I'll take you to get something to eat first. We recently hired a pastry chef, and he makes some really good desserts."
“Okay, let’s try it together.” Xu Jinwei nodded with a smile.
Bai Qianmo, however, seemed to be in a daze.
Yin Heng's gaze, however, was constantly and secretly observing her.
"Jin'en, do you have any favorite snacks?"
Bai Qianmo was lost in thought when she heard Yin Heng's words, and slowly lifted her eyelids to look at him.
"I don't like sweets."
KO
Yin Heng tried his best to hide his embarrassment.
Although he didn't know what he had done to offend his fiancée, he tried several times along the way to get closer to her, but she always managed to shut him down with a single sentence, not allowing him to get any closer.
“Brother Yin Heng, Jin En grew up in the countryside and has never tasted these pastries from big cities. Asking her suddenly might have caught her off guard.”
"It's alright. Since Jin'en doesn't like sweets, just have the kitchen make two non-sweet dishes."
The butler nodded in agreement: "Yes, young master, I will go and instruct the chef in the kitchen right away."
Arriving at the restaurant
Coffee and pastries were already laid out on the table.
Yin Heng gentlemanly pulled out chairs and invited them to sit down.
Bai Qianmo sat down and said thank you.
Xu Jinwei raised an eyebrow and smiled at Yin Heng: "Brother Yin Heng, have you forgotten? I've always been used to sitting next to you, so I'm sitting here."
Yin Heng smiled and nodded, then walked to the other side of the dining table and pulled out a chair.
"Yes, Miss Xu, please have a seat."
"Thanks!"
After Xu Jinwei sat down, Yin Heng sat down next to her.
A short while later, the maid brought over two servings of savory snacks.
"Young master, ladies, this is an egg yolk pastry and this is a crab meat cake. These are our master's specialty pastries. Ladies, please try them."
"Put it down."
The maid placed two portions of pastries on the table. Yin Heng picked up a salted egg yolk pastry from the chopsticks beside him and placed it in Bai Qianmo's bowl.
