Du Muchen sat in the car, while his two subordinates stood beside it waiting.
Gu Tingjun glanced at his watch with his deep eyes. A full ten minutes had passed since the guard went in to report. If he didn't have something to hide, Gu Tingjun wouldn't have delayed like this.
Just as I was pondering this, the gatekeeper came running over.
"Young Master Du, my master invites you in."
Du Muchen nodded and casually asked, "What's your husband busy with?"
The gatekeeper was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly said, "How would a gatekeeper like me know what the master is doing?"
"Hehe, that's true."
Du Muchen said nothing more and led his two subordinates into the villa.
As soon as I entered, I saw Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen, a married couple, sitting on the sofa in the living room, drinking tea.
"Mu Chen is here!" Ye Yuzhen said with a smile, standing up to greet him.
"What a rare guest! Your timing is perfect. I was just about to order dinner. Stay and have a drink with your second brother later."
"Mu Chen, come and sit down." Gu Tingjun greeted him with a smile.
Ye Yuzhen glanced quickly at the two subordinates behind Du Muchen, then instructed the two maids to go to the kitchen to get busy.
Du Muchen walked to the sofa diagonally opposite Gu Tingjun and sat down. His sharp eyes immediately noticed the gauze wrapped around Gu Tingjun's ear.
"Second brother, what's wrong with your ears?"
A hint of panic flashed in Gu Tingjun's eyes.
Du Muchen arrived so suddenly that he had completely forgotten about the old man biting his ear.
Gu Tingjun couldn't answer for a moment, and his expression looked rather strange.
Ye Yuzhen, carrying a fruit platter, happened to overhear Du Muchen's question.
She walked forward, feigning composure.
"Your second brother really likes keeping small pets. Recently, the family bought a dog. That dog is quite fierce and difficult to tame. Yesterday, your second brother took it out for a walk, and the dog suddenly went crazy and bit your second brother."
“Yes, that dog is too wild; it’s still locked in a cage,” Gu Tingjun quickly added.
A hint of doubt flashed in Du Muchen's eyes, but he maintained a smile on his face.
"It's best to be more careful from now on."
"Yes, yes, from now on that dog should stay in its cage. We'll let it out when it becomes docile."
Du Muchen's sharp gaze swept over Gu Tingjun's ear.
The blood on the gauze was still bright red. Judging from the color of the bloodstains, Gu Tingjun must have been injured today, and not too long ago.
This couple is clearly lying. Why would they need time to hide their wounds?
Could this wound be related to Old Master Gu?
"Mu Chen, have some fruit. By the way, is there something you need that brought you here today?" Ye Yuzhen broke the silence.
Du Muchen's eyes flickered, glancing at Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen.
"Your second brother and sister-in-law must have heard about Old Master Gu's disappearance, right?"
Gu Tingjun frowned and lowered his eyelids.
He sighed and said, "I heard about it. We were just about to go to the Gu family's old residence to see what was going on. Who is so bold as to kidnap the head of the Gu family? Hmph, if we find these people, I, Gu Tingjun, will definitely not let them off easily."
Gu Tingjun put on a face that looked like he was gritting his teeth.
Ye Yuzhen looked worried.
"Sixth Grandfather and Sixth Grandmother have always lived a secluded life and kept a low profile. I really can't figure out who they could have offended. Mu Chen, have you heard anything from your side?"
Du Muchen guessed that Ye Yuzhen wanted to get information out of him.
With a slight curve to his thin lips, he looked at Ye Yuzhen with clear and intelligent eyes.
"The entire capital has been turned upside down, but there is still no news of the old man and those robbers."
"It seems the other party is quite powerful. Even the combined efforts of several major clans couldn't find any trace of them. Could they have already left the city?"
“We’ve checked the CCTV footage from all the exits, and it’s confirmed that the car that kidnapped the old man didn’t leave the capital. Moreover, I suspect that not only did they not leave the capital, but they’re hiding right under our noses. Second brother, who do you think this person could be?”
When Du Muchen suddenly asked this question, the couple appeared calm on the surface, but their hearts were actually in turmoil.
Du Muchen's words clearly indicated that he suspected an acquaintance of committing the crime.
And they were the targets of his suspicion.
Ye Yuzhen shook her head: "Who could be hiding right under our noses? Mu Chen, do you already have someone you suspect?"
Du Muchen smiled.
This smile sent a jolt through Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen.
"To be able to know the blind spots of the capital's surveillance so well, and to be able to keep track of them from the major families, it is clear that these people know the Gu family very well, or even that it was the work of the Gu family."
As he said these words, a cold glint flashed in Du Muchen's eyes.
Gu Tingjun's lips stiffened slightly, while Ye Yuzhen's expression changed slightly.
Seeing the couple's expressions, Du Muchen was basically certain that Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen were involved in Old Master Gu's kidnapping.
"Where is Xinyi?"
Du Muchen's sudden mention of Gu Xinyi set off alarm bells for the couple.
“Xinyi is at school,” Ye Yuzhen said hurriedly.
Du Muchen smiled and said, "I haven't seen her for a while. I met Xinyi once at the Gu family banquet. I happen to know one of her favorite male idols, so she asked me to help her get an autographed photo. I've already gotten it for her, and I was thinking of giving her a little surprise if I could see her at home today."
