In an instant, everyone's eyes turned to the doorway.
A tall, handsome, and familiar figure was walking slowly towards them. He was wearing a black trench coat, and his fair face had a refined and elegant air with sharp features. However, his dark and deep eyes were as vast as the sea, making people afraid to look directly at him.
"Ah Ye?"
"Seventh brother?"
Everyone gasped in surprise, and Old Master Gu and his wife stared in shock at the approaching young man.
He was accompanied by a girl with exceptionally beautiful features.
"Seventh Brother? Is it really Seventh Brother?" Old Madam Gu came back to her senses, and her eyes immediately welled up with tears.
Old Gu murmured excitedly, "It's him, it really is him."
Seeing Gu Jueye appear here unharmed, the two elderly people were so excited that they didn't know what to say for a moment.
Qin Lin then threw herself into Gu Jueye's arms.
"Son, my son, you're finally back! Where have you been all this time? I thought... I thought I'd never see you again. Do you know how much I've suffered as your mother these past few days? Waaah..."
The moment Qin Lin saw Gu Jueye, all the fear and despair of the past few days seemed to burst forth. Holding her son and feeling his breath and warmth, she could finally remind herself that what she was seeing was not a hallucination, and that her son had really returned.
"How is that possible? How could he possibly come back?" Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen were like ants on a hot pan, extremely anxious and restless.
The moment I saw Gu Jueye, a huge wave of panic washed over me.
The only thought that flashed through Gu Tingjun's mind was, "It's over, it's all over now."
Previously, Huo Zhaoyuan instigated Gu Lao to kidnap him because he felt that Gu Jueye's trip to Kunlun Mountain was likely to be dangerous, and the sixth branch only had Gu Zhizhou, which was not enough to be relied upon.
But now that the seventh brother had returned, Gu Tingjun felt a chill run down his spine when he thought of his methods.
Looking at his family, a strange light flickered in Gu Jueye's usually calm and composed eyes.
A hint of surprise flashed across Bai Qianmo's calm face as she stood to the side.
When she accompanied her fifth brother here, he only said that he was there to see some old friends he hadn't seen for many years.
To her surprise, the Gu family treated her fifth brother differently.
Could it be that Fifth Brother is really the son they've been talking about, Gu Jueye?
However, she had looked up information about Gu Jueye online. He had completed his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies at JQ University, spending all six years there. She wasn't sure what Gu Jueye had experienced during those six years.
But what she was certain of was that her fifth brother had been by her side for the past six years.
They are definitely not the same person.
They just look alike.
Gu Jueye raised his hand and gently patted Qin Lin's back: "Don't worry, I'm back."
A simple sentence, yet it soothed the mother's heart.
With tears welling up in his eyes, Gu Zhizhou patted Gu Jueye's shoulder and said, "It's good that you're back."
Gu Jueye nodded and looked at Old Master Gu and Old Madam Gu.
"Grandpa, Grandma, I'm sorry to have worried you."
Bai Qianmo glanced at Gu Jueye, her eyes full of doubt.
Fifth Brother actually called the Gu family elders "Grandpa" and "Grandma" so naturally. How could this be?
Old Gu's eyes welled up with tears, but he smiled with satisfaction.
"I knew you'd come back safe and sound."
“Now that A-Ye has returned, it is only natural that A-Ye should take over the position of Gu family head,” said a clansman of the same generation as Elder Gu.
“I wholeheartedly agree that A-Ye is qualified to be the clan chief.” Another elderly man with a white beard nodded in agreement.
The patriarch of the fourth branch of the Gu family also spoke up: "Since both uncles agree, I have no objections."
The three elders of the clan all spoke up and unanimously agreed that Gu Jueye should serve as the head of the Gu family.
Old Master Gu's tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed.
Now that his grandson has returned safely, he has no more worries.
A cold glint flashed in his wise eyes as he looked at Gu Tingjun.
"Gu Tingjun, it's time we settled things properly today!"
"Sixth Grandfather, what do you mean by this?" Gu Tingjun glanced at Gu Jueye with a flustered look in his eyes.
"Yes, Sixth Grandpa, we're all happy that Seventh Brother is back. Why are you trying to settle scores with us for no reason?"
Ye Yuzhen also started to play dumb.
"Hmph, who kidnapped me? And who threatened me to hand over the Gu family's seal of authority?"
Everyone present was taken aback when they heard what Old Master Gu said.
Old Master Gu continued, "The people who kidnapped me were Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen, a married couple. They conspired with Huo Zhaoyuan to plan this kidnapping, with the aim of seizing the Gu family's property!"
"What? Gu Tingjun actually colluded with the Huo family to kidnap the old man? He's really gone too far!" an elder of the clan exclaimed angrily.
Gu Tingjun's expression changed drastically, and he hurriedly tried to defend himself: "Sixth Grandfather, you can't talk nonsense. How could I dare to kidnap you?"
"Still trying to argue, huh?" Old Gu sneered, glancing at Gu Xinyi, who had remained silent.
"Xinyi, you tell me, were your parents the ones who kidnapped me?"
“I…” Gu Xinyi raised her head with a complicated expression and looked at Gu Tingjun and Ye Yuzhen.
Ye Yuzhen panicked and stepped forward to grab Gu Xinyi's hands.
"Xinyi, talk to them properly and explain it clearly. It wasn't your parents who did it, right?"
Gu Xinyi pursed her lips and lowered her head, remaining silent.
Upon seeing this, Ye Yuzhen panicked and began to shake her.
