Chapter 838 Heart-to-Heart Talk

As she continued to test herself, Bai Qianmo's doubts grew.

Gu Jueye caught the suspicion that flashed in Bai Qianmo's eyes.

"What are you thinking about?"

Bai Qianmo snapped out of her thoughts and her gaze fell on the scar on the man's hand.

"Fifth Brother, this scar has been on your hand for seven years now, hasn't it?"

Gu Jueye lowered his eyes, glanced at the scar on his hand, and said indifferently, "Yes, it was left when you first went to Y country."

"Today, however, Mr. Gu and Mrs. Gu said that they never remembered that Gu Jueye had that scar on his hand. They are Gu Jueye's closest relatives. It is impossible for them not to have noticed such a noticeable scar on their precious grandson's hand over the years."

After speaking, Bai Qianmo stared intently at Gu Jueye.

"Fifth Brother, I have always believed what you say, but this time, there are too many doubts about your claim that you are Gu Jueye."

At this moment, Bai Qianmo decided to be open and honest and express all her recent worries.

"Today, Su Peishan told me that my relationship with Gu Jueye in the capital was very good this year. We actually dated back then, but we broke up for some reason. This time, we met again in the capital and fell in love with each other."

After saying the last two words, Bai Qianmo felt a sense of relief.

“If you weren’t him, you would be two different people…”

Bai Qianmo dared not think about the consequences. Before she lost her memory, she and Gu Jueye were in love, but now, she was certain that the person she liked was Fifth Brother.

But if she were to be with Fifth Brother without any qualms, it would be tantamount to betraying another man she once loved.

Struggling internally, Bai Qianmo closed her eyes listlessly.

“I’ve never dared to think about this question, and I even hope that what you’re saying is true, that you and he are the same person.”

The man stared at her silently for a long time.

"Sweetie, sit down first." Gu Jueye reached out and pulled the girl to his side, letting her sit on his lap.

Bai Qianmo tried to get up, but the man's hands gripped her waist. Helpless, she could only look at the man so close to her.

The man lowered his head slightly and pressed his smooth forehead against hers. Her warm breath spread across his cheeks. The room was already quite warm, and with them snuggling together, it felt like they were in a sauna.

Feeling the man's burning gaze, which was like a raging fire, Bai Qianmo's heart pounded wildly, as if she wanted to burst out of her shell.

She subconsciously looked away, trying to move her cheek to avoid his gaze.

But just as she was about to move her head, a pair of long, strong hands forcefully pulled her back.

Helpless, Bai Qianmo could only stare at the man in front of her with her big, watery eyes.

"Fifth Brother, I..."

Before she could speak, the man suddenly moved closer and his lips were immediately sealed tightly.

Bai Qianmo stared in astonishment with her almond-shaped eyes.

She only has memories from before she was sixteen. In her memory, although she liked her fifth brother very much, this man always played the role of an elder in front of her. He came to her side when she was eight years old, and in the eight years they spent together, it can be said that this man watched her grow up. So even though she liked him, he always maintained a gentlemanly demeanor towards her and intentionally avoided matters between men and women.

A slow smile curved her lips as Bai Qianmo closed her eyes, feeling the unfamiliar impact the man was giving her.

Regardless of what had happened between her and Gu Jueye over the past few years, she was very clear about her feelings at this moment.

The man she loved to the core, the man who acted as both brother and father to her during the age when she needed family to accompany her as she grew up, was irreplaceable in her heart.

At that moment, she clearly understood that her feelings for this man were romantic love.

At this moment, in Gu Jueye's heart, the calm lake was rippled, and gradually, with a turbulent force, it impacted his consciousness and senses.

Originally, he only wanted to stop her from saying what she was about to say, but when he actually touched her lips, the emotions that had been building up inside him erupted like a volcano, with scalding lava flowing through every part of his blood.

"Ugh!" Bai Qianmo's mind went blank, and she even forgot to breathe.

The flame in Gu Jueye's eyes instantly died down, and a calm mind returned to his brain.

He slowly moved away from those alluring lips, which were already glistening with moisture from his kisses, like cherries waiting to be picked, making them exceptionally tempting.

He stared intently at her lips for a moment, lost in thought, and then, seeing her face turn bright red, he couldn't help but laugh.

"Fool, can't you breathe?"

Bai Qianmo let out a long breath, glancing at Gu Jueye with a mixture of embarrassment and coquettishness.

"You were too sudden... Why did you kiss me so suddenly?"

"What do you think?" The man's eyes crinkled as he looked at her with amusement.

Bai Qianmo saw deep affection in those calm eyes before her, and she naturally understood the reason.

"But you've never confessed your feelings to me, and we were just talking about it. You can't use this as an excuse to brush me off."

Gu Jueye took the girl's slender hand and played with her slender, straight fingers.

“I’m not trying to fob you off, girl. When I’m with you, I only have the option to say or not say. Whatever I say is the absolute truth.”

He habitually squeezed the girl's palm, feeling the soft touch of her skin.

He continued, "I know what you've been thinking about these past few days. We've known each other since you were eight years old, so in terms of age and experience, Gu Jueye and I don't match up. That's why you suspect we're not the same person. I guess you must have asked the old lady what Gu Jueye was doing during those years. She must have told you that he was always in the capital."

After speaking, the man chuckled softly, his eyes deep and unfathomable, yet his mind clear as a mirror, as if all things in the world were as insignificant and tasteless as clouds and smoke in his eyes.

Having been seen through by him, Bai Qianmo nodded truthfully in admission.

"Grandma Gu did tell me that Gu Jueye had never been to the South before going to study in Y country, let alone to that poor, rural place. Fifth Brother, I always believed what you said, but the life trajectories of the two of you are completely different, and I have many doubts in my heart."

The man remained silent for a long time, as if he had made up his mind, and then said softly, "Let me tell you a story."
