Chapter 385 No one knows the piano better than me

Bai Qianmo turned to Cao Jie's page and briefly looked at Cao Jie's situation.

When Mr. Cao was young, he met Cao Jie's mother while on a business trip in the United States. At the time, Cao Jie's mother was a minor stage actress in a theater. After learning that Mr. Cao's family was well-off, Cao Jie's mother quickly became Mr. Cao's mistress in the United States.

Old Cao is a romantic but not vulgar man; he's quite the ladies' man.

He allowed all the women he had been with to give birth to his babies if they became pregnant, and he even guaranteed them the funds to raise them. That's why Old Cao has been able to have so many mistresses without any problems until now.

"Could you find some old photos of Cao Jie?"

Chen Xiang immediately placed a file folder in front of Bai Qianmo.

Bai Qianmo opened the file bag, and inside were some photos.

These photos range from elementary school, middle school, high school to university, and were all taken at school.

Chen Xiang explained, "I found these photos at Cao Jie's school. Judging from the photos, Cao Jie had plastic surgery during the summer vacation before his senior year of high school."

Bai Qianmo compared Cao Jie's photos before high school with his college photos. His features were not as prominent as they are now, and he didn't even resemble the old CEO Cao. He looked more like his mother.

After the plastic surgery, his facial features became very similar to those of Mr. Cao when he was young. He had a nose job and his eyes were widened. In order to deliberately resemble Mr. Cao, he even got the same thick eyebrows as Mr. Cao. His eyebrows were light before, so the contrast was quite obvious.

How often does Mr. Cao see these illegitimate children?

"According to the Cao family's rules, illegitimate children are not allowed to enter the Cao family's gate before the age of eighteen. Therefore, these illegitimate children might not be able to see Old Master Cao even once every few years."

Bai Xiruo's nerves tightened. Eighteen years old? Isn't that the year Cao Jie had plastic surgery?

*

Bai Xiruo returned to the Bai family home before dinner.

It just so happens that Bai Kangyan, Han Songyan, and Bai Luoyu are all there.

Bai Xiruo walked in carrying several bags: "Dad, Mom, brother, it's so good that you're all home. It's been so long since our family has been together."

"Xi Ruo is back." Bai Kangyan smiled.

Since learning that Bai Qianmo's online backlash had nothing to do with Bai Xiruo, Bai Kangyan felt that Bai Xiruo had truly reformed, so he didn't want to dwell on the past.

Xi Ruo had a gentle and obedient smile on her face: "I went to Yancheng these past two days to support 'The Phoenix's Journey' and just got back to the capital today. Dad, I brought you a small gift. Please see if you like it."

Bai Kangyan readily accepted the gift. Upon opening the box, he discovered it was a high-end, handcrafted shirt.

"The material feels very comfortable, Xi Ruo, you're so thoughtful."

Bai Xiruo smiled happily: "As long as you like it, that's all that matters, Mom. This is a gift for you, please take a look."

Han Songyan's hand, which was peeling an apple, suddenly trembled, and the sharp knife quickly cut her finger.

"Ouch!" A sharp pain shot through my finger, and the apple fell to the ground.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Bai Xiruo asked anxiously, pulling Han Songyan's hand.

"I'm fine!" Han Songyan withdrew her hand expressionlessly.

Bai Kangyan frowned slightly: "You're bleeding and you still say you're fine? Let me take a look."

Bai Kangyan pulled Han Songyan's hand in front of him, and when he saw the long cut on the pad of her left thumb, he felt a pang of heartache.

"Luo Yu, hurry upstairs and bring down the first-aid kit."

Bai Luoyu immediately stood up: "Okay, I'll go right away."

"Mom, I'll go get some ice to cool you down." Before Han Songyan could speak, Bai Xiruo hurriedly went to the kitchen.

A moment later, she brought over an ice pack and carefully wrapped it in a towel.

"Quickly put your finger on ice; it will stop the bleeding quickly."

Bai Kangyan saw this and smiled with relief: "I remember when you were little, you were obsessed with skating for a while. You would often practice at the nearby skating rink after school. Every time you came back, you would have all kinds of injuries. Your mother would complain with heartache, but at the same time, she would rush out ice to help you with cold compresses."

Han Songyan's expression was somewhat unnatural as a flood of memories from the past flashed through her mind.

The more she recalled her past relationship with Bai Xiruo, the more she felt like she had been an idiot for the past twenty years.

Bai Xiruo looked calm, and the smile on her lips remained gentle and pure: "My mother really loved me when I was little, and she couldn't bear to see me get hurt in the slightest."

"Your mother still loves you very much." When Han Songyan mentioned how good she was to Bai Xiruo, Bai Kangyan couldn't help but think of his other daughter.

The same mother, yet the treatment they receive is worlds apart.

He couldn't change Han Songyan's attitude towards Qianmo, so he hoped that he, as a father, could make up for the lack of fatherly love he had for Qianmo as much as possible. But he knew in his heart that he was not doing a good enough job.

During this time, he often couldn't help but want to call Qianmo to ask about her situation, but he never had the courage to do so.

Bai Luoyu came downstairs with a medicine box.

Bai Xiruo immediately said, "Brother, let me do it."

Bai Luoyu glanced at Han Songyan, and was about to hand the medicine box to Bai Xiruo when Han Songyan suddenly spoke up.

"I'll do it myself."

Bai Kangyan and Bai Luoyu both showed the same surprised and puzzled expressions. Only then did Han Songyan realize that her tone had sounded too urgent.

"It's not a big wound, I can take care of it myself."

Bai Xiruo opened her large, clear eyes and looked at Han Songyan with a somewhat aggrieved expression.

"Does Mom think I'm clumsy?"
