The next day, the sky was clear and blue.
At 6 p.m. sharp, Duan Ze appeared downstairs at Shen Niannian's company.
Shen Niannian also finished work quickly and got into Duan Ze's car.
Duan Ze drove to his destination.
7 PM.
They arrived at the old place that Shen Niannian had mentioned.
It was a bookstore that also served as a coffee shop, and of course, it also had all sorts of snacks. Duan Ze ordered everything he could find.
Moreover, Duan Ze deliberately chose the best viewpoint on the second floor, where he could see the entrance on the first floor.
Shen Niannian glanced at him, and finally had no choice but to take off the scarf around her neck. There were several hickeys on her neck. Although she was wearing a coat, they could be clearly seen as long as she turned her head.
Duan Ze also glanced at her, and seeing how cooperative the girl was, his mood improved considerably.
He pushed the hot milk directly in front of Shen Niannian: "Here, have some hot milk to tide you over."
Shen Niannian smiled and nodded, then accepted it.
It was at this moment that Duan Ze saw Fang Rou walk over from the left side of the bookstore, dressed in a smart suit, her hair still tied up high, and her face covered with exquisite makeup.
Another man walked over from the right side of the cafe.
Duan Ze silently calculated the distance and time. If this speed continued, the two people would meet sooner than he thought.
Duan Ze smiled slightly. This was faster than he had expected, which was good, as he could know the outcome a little earlier.
Duan Ze's calculations of speed and distance were indeed spot on, as the two arrived at the bookstore entrance almost simultaneously.
Fang Rou was taken aback when she saw Zhou Luo, then nodded politely and went into the bookstore first.
Zhou Luo followed closely behind.
The two's interaction probably lasted no more than five seconds; Fang Rou didn't even pause for a moment.
but...
Duan Ze still noticed something was wrong from the subtle details.
Fang Rou was indeed very polite, but Duan Ze also knew that someone as arrogant as Fang Rou wouldn't even glance at you if you weren't someone she knew, let alone give you a simple nod.
The expression on Zhou Luo's face made him think even more deeply.
Soon, Fang Rou and Zhou Luo went upstairs one after the other.
Fang Rou walked over naturally and extended her hand to them: "Hello."
Duan Ze and Shen Niannian both politely shook hands with her, and Zhou Luo quickly came over as well, smiling and saying, "It's really lively today."
Duan Ze smiled and said, "Indeed, please have a seat, both of you."
The four people sat down facing each other.
The waiter quickly brought the coffee, and both Fang Rou and Zhou Luo received the same type of coffee.
Fang Rou spoke first: "If I'm not mistaken, you two are... getting married soon?"
Duan Ze smiled and took Shen Niannian's hand: "Yes, my fiancée and I are getting married in three months. The wedding date has been set, and we hope that you two can attend."
Shen Niannian calmly turned around, took out the invitations from her bag, and gave them to Zhou Luo and Fang Rou respectively.
Fang Rou accepted it quickly. Her eyes were only slightly dazed for a second or two before she picked up her coffee and said, "Congratulations."
This reaction was within Duan Ze's expectations, but it surprised Shen Niannian.
Because Zhou Luo's expression couldn't help but look rather unpleasant.
Let alone congratulations, just sitting here is probably unbearable for him.
Duan Ze smiled and said, "Thank you."
Fang Rou's gaze softened as she looked at Duan Ze and Shen Niannian: "You two are a perfect match. Since you've chosen to get married, then go on to have a good relationship. Don't worry about anything else."
Before Duan Ze and Fang Rou could figure out what Fang Rou meant by those words, they heard Zhou Luo's slightly sarcastic voice: "Sister Fang is really quite magnanimous."
Duan Ze raised an eyebrow: "Oh? You two know each other?"
Fang Rou: "We've met twice."
"As the old saying goes, it's better to tear down a temple than to break up a marriage. Since they're getting married, what's the point of dwelling on the past?"
After Fang Rou finished speaking, she ignored Zhou Luo's expression and looked directly at Duan Ze.
"Although I haven't been in Kyoto for many years, I know a little about the situation there. I met Zhou Luo at a donation meeting for the orphanage organized by the Jiang family."
“Xiao Ze, you’ve grown up and now you know your place. I won’t say more.”
After saying that, Fang Rou stood up first: "After this New Year, I will be stationed at the European Embassy, and it will probably be difficult for me to return to China after that, so what you are worried about will not happen. I wish you a happy marriage in advance."
After saying that, Fang Rou smiled calmly, then turned and left.
But as she turned to go downstairs, her smile seemed forced.
It's like I'm recalling those days. Back then, when Duan Ze was jealous, he acted the same way, never knowing what it meant to give someone face, but instead directly asserting his dominance.
Back when Duan Ze was jealous of her and her senior classmates, what he did was wait for her to finish class, and then hug and kiss her in front of the senior classmates in the middle of a crowd.
She knew this was Duan Ze's way of asserting his dominance, and she was happy to indulge him.
She was once an insider, but now she's become an outsider.
However, Ozawa's preferred approach has never changed.
Fang Rou smiled, went downstairs to settle the bill, and left.
At the same time, Fang Rou also sent a message to someone, which was just a simple sentence: If the Jiang family can't stay idle, let them keep busy.
Fang Rou received a reply very quickly.
Only then did she raise the corners of her mouth slightly and drive away.
