Chapter 79

Chapter 79

The prison door was opened, and the devil grabbed Tyndall's arm, dragged him out of the huge iron cage roughly, and took him away.

Miel chased after him and tried to stop him, but his hand passed through Dindel's body - both Dindel and the devil were like phantoms, invisible and intangible.

"How am I going to take him out?" Miyer couldn't help but frown.

He now had the illusion that he had entered a memory world created by Tyndall. No matter what happened, he could only watch and was unable to interfere with it.

If he couldn't even have a conversation, how was he going to convince Dindel to go out with him?

"Don't worry," Cthulhu soothed him. "This is his dream world, completely under his control. He can transform into anyone, in any form, even a stone. The one you see may not be him; someone else you see may be him."

[Observe carefully the facial expressions of everyone you meet. If someone makes eye contact with you, then it might be them.]

Cthulhu said the second half of the sentence in Miel's heart. I wonder if it was to prevent Dindel from hearing it and arousing his vigilance.

Miel nodded and said "hmm" to indicate that he understood. He quickly calmed down and flew in the direction where Dingdel was taken away.

Then, he saw Rafar, the Devil of the Nine Hells.

The devil looked exactly like the phantom above the battlefield, but was of normal size, only slightly larger than Dindel.

He was lying on the luxurious red bed wearing only a pair of black shorts, and he looked with interest at the dark high elf who was brought to his bedside by his men.

The devil who brought Dindel here put a harpoon-like weapon on the back of Dindel's neck and forced him to kneel facing Rafar.

After the two devils exchanged a few words in Infernal, Rafar burst into laughter and spoke fluent Common. "What a pathetic creature! Shar betrayed my contract and stole a treasure from me. It was she who provoked this war, sending you to the battlefield and your deaths. Seeing you being played around by her and still working for her, I truly feel sorry for you."

Dingdel lowered his head and said nothing, as if he was thinking about something, or as if he felt despair about the future and gave up struggling.

Rafar waved to the other demons in the room to retreat, then walked to the edge of the bed and lifted Dindel's chin with his toes, revealing his handsome but expressionless face.

"I admire your sacrifice to save your companions, so I won't kill you. How about we do something fun?"

Dingdel still had no expression. Miel, who was standing next to him, widened his eyes in disbelief after realizing what Rafar meant.

He shouted "no" in his heart, but still couldn't stop anything.

He watched as Rafar dragged Dindel onto the bed and pressed him under him.

The devil's poison eroded Dindel's body through physical contact.

Between resistance and allowing himself to die, Tyndall chose to hold on by force.

He continued to recite prayers to cleanse himself of the toxins and maintain his life.

But his reaction further stimulated Rafar's interest.

"You must be enjoying it, so you want to make your body last longer." Rafar said while exercising.

Dindel raised his eyelids to look at him, then suddenly stopped reciting and asked, "What evidence do you have to prove...that the goddess Shar broke her contract with you?"

"What? You are still thinking about this." Rafar sneered, put one hand on Dindel's ear, raised the other hand, and a ball of fire ignited on his hand with a "bang", burning out a contract written on parchment.

Rafar paused his movements and thrust the parchment into Dindel's face. "You don't understand Infernal, but that's okay. I'll translate this contract directly into your head. Do you understand now?"

Tyndall let the parchment cover his face without saying a word.

Rafar complained, "The Crown of Kala originally existed in my father's study. It's a treasure that can be used to enslave all souls in the world. I wanted it, so I made a contract with Shar. She helped me obtain it, and I helped her fight the moon goddess Selûne. But after we obtained the Crown of Kala together, I fulfilled the contract and helped her severely injure Selûne, but she turned around and stole the crown from me! She was the one who broke the contract first. She refused to hand over the crown, so I had no choice but to use war to achieve my goal!"

Rafar finished speaking, but Dindel still showed no reaction as if he were dead.

Rafar could only destroy his body harder, hoping for more reaction from him.

At this moment, with a "boom", the door of Rafar's room was destroyed, and a large number of dark high elves rushed in.

They surrounded Rafar, extinguished all the lights in the room, gained strength from the darkness, and attacked Rafar!

The following scenes were chaotic, with different scenes and people flashing in Miyer's vision.

Finally, Miel closed his eyes in a daze. When he opened them again, it was already after the war.

The wounded dark elves gathered together, with the huge phantom of the goddess of darkness, Shar, in front of them.

Shar thanked her followers for winning the war for her.

"Especially you, Dalik. You led the others to destroy Rafar's pillar of power, so I could kill him. I will grant you the qualifications to become a Priest of the Night."

"Thank you, goddess! It's my honor to fight for you!" The dark elf named Dalik responded excitedly, bowing gracefully in Shar's direction.

Shar spoke again: "You can ask me for a reward, any reward."

"Then..." Dalek looked at a girl of his own race excitedly, pointed at her and said, "I want her to be my slave! You can't resist me no matter what!"

Miel couldn't believe what he heard.

But what made him even more unbelievable was that Shar actually agreed without hesitation: "Okay."

Miel: “…”

Miel was originally skeptical about what Rafar said, after all, the devil is the best at lying.

But now…

"Wait." A familiar voice suddenly sounded.

It's Tyndall.

Dindel walked out from the crowd, blocking Dalek's view of the girl, his eyes a little dim.

"I'm grateful to you for leading us to victory in the war against Rafar. However, this girl is innocent. I beg you to let her go and reconsider the reward..."

"Then it's you." Dalic interrupted Dindel and said with a sarcastic expression and tone, "Since you like to take the lead so much, then you will be my slave in her place."

Tyndall remained silent.

The girl he was protecting glanced at him, then suddenly turned and ran away, as if she was afraid that if she ran a second later, the two would regret it.

No one stood up to say a word for Tyndall, and everyone remained silent in tacit understanding.

After a while, Shar asked, "Are you sure you want him?"

Dalic responded, "I'm sure. I hate people who have no skills at all but just casually stand up for others. I'm going to make him pay for ruining my good fortune today!"

"Okay." Shar responded, raised his hand and exerted his divine power to sign subordinate contracts for his two believers.

Invisible chains stretched from Dalek's hands to Dindel's neck.

Tyndall closed his eyes.

There was no expression on his face and he said nothing, but he had so much to say in his heart.

I was right.

I did the right thing.

【It’s someone else’s fault.】

【Rafar is wrong, Dalek is wrong.】

【Sha'er is wrong.】

Even if everyone around me is wrong, I must do the right thing.

[I am not wrong, I have never been wrong, and I will never do anything wrong in the future.]

[I am not wrong, I am not wrong, I am not wrong, I am not wrong, I am not wrong...]

Tyndall's inner voice echoed in the dim Underdark, making the already dark environment even darker.

What is this emotion?

[Angry, or sad? I can’t tell anymore…]

Miel's vision went completely dark, and when it came back to him, he found himself in a gray fog.

Dindel knelt in the gray fog that Miel was already familiar with, with his head lowered and his hands supporting the ground.

Beneath his tattered clothes was a body covered in wounds, with almost no intact skin left on his body.

I can't sit idly by and watch others suffer, but I can't even save myself.

[Anyone is fine, please save me...]

His prayers echoed in the gray fog, spreading out like ripples on water, dispersing the fog a little and revealing a huge black shadow at the end.

Then, a gentle female voice responded to him:

【Believe in me, and I will give you the power to save yourself. 】

The female voice was gentle but without any emotion, like a cold machine.

【Believe in me, and I will grant you the power to save others.】

This is the second sentence, the third sentence is——

【Believe in me, I will let you rest in your dreams. 】

I don’t know which of these three sentences touched Dingdel’s nerves, or perhaps, Dingdel, who was in desperate situation, no longer had the energy to think too much.

He made his choice almost without hesitation: "I believe in you, unknown god. As long as you can save me from the darkness of Shar, I am willing to give you everything I have, whether it is my life or my soul."

【Then, the contract is established.】

The scene shook violently and then collapsed.

Miel's body sank uncontrollably, and he returned to the underworld in another dizziness.

Then he saw it—the corpses of dark elves all over the ground.

Miel identified the Dalek from the pile of corpses, the girl who was rescued by Dindel and then escaped, and the prisoners who Dindel wanted to save but turned around and reported him.

Then, at the end of the pile of bodies, he saw Dindel standing with his back to him.

Wearing priest's attire.

A black robe covered every inch of his body. He stood with his back to the corpse and prayed devoutly: "Praise you, my great Lord. May there be no more pain in this world. May everyone in this world find rest in your dreams."

After he finished speaking, he turned to face Miel's direction after a while and met his gaze.

-----------------------

The author has something to say: I had intended to write about Tyndall's past in detail, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to write. Anyway, Tyndall saved people along the way, suffered abuse along the way, and then began to give up saving people and save souls in the way he thought was right.
