Why didn't you reply to my message?
In the café within the system space, Lu Yin held Lan Yi's hand tightly, her fingertips gently tracing the old scar on the inside of his wrist. Two years ago, this was the mark of their love; two years later, it had become the most unfamiliar distance to her. She took a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly: "Lan Yi, these past two years... why haven't you replied to my messages?"
Finally, he spoke slowly, his voice low and hoarse: "Because... I'm afraid."
Lu Yin's heart tightened; she had never seen Lan Yi so vulnerable. Her fingertips hovered in mid-air, like a frightened bird: "What are you afraid of?"
Lan Yi gently traced the line between his fingertips and his wrist, where a faint scar remained from a car accident two years ago. He lowered his head, his voice trembling slightly, "I'm afraid to see news about you; it will remind me of things I can't face."
Tears welled up in Lu Yin's eyes, and she asked anxiously, "What is it? Tell me, and we'll face it together."
Lan Yi raised his head, a hint of pain flashing in his eyes: "The car accident two years ago was more than just an accident." He paused, his voice lower: "That day, I was driving you when my ex-girlfriend suddenly appeared. She tried to bribe the driver to speed up at the intersection. I... I couldn't stop her in time."
Lu Yin's breath hitched. She had never imagined there was such a hidden story behind the car accident. She asked urgently, "And then what happened? Why didn't you ever tell me?"
A hint of self-reproach flashed in Lan Yi's eyes: "Because... I'm afraid you'll blame me. I'm afraid you'll feel that I didn't protect you well." He reached out and gently grasped Lu Yin's hand, which was suspended in mid-air, his voice trembling slightly: "I'm afraid to see the disappointment in your eyes, afraid that you'll leave me."
Lu Yin's tears finally fell, and she gently shook her head: "No, Lan Yi. I will never blame you. I will only feel sorry for you, for you bearing so much alone."
A glint flashed in Lan Yi's eyes. He looked up at Lu Yin, his voice firm: "So, I chose silence. I chose not to reply to your messages because I didn't know how to face you."
Lu Yin's tears flowed even faster. She leaned gently on Lan Yi's shoulder, her voice tender: "Lan Yi, you don't need to explain. I just need to know that you still care about me and still love me."
A flicker of emotion crossed Lan Yi's eyes. He gently embraced Lu Yin, his voice trembling slightly, "I care about you, I love you. It's just... I'm afraid of losing you."
Lu Yin raised her head, looked into Lan Yi's eyes, and said in a firm yet gentle voice, "Lan Yi, I'm back. This time, I won't leave you alone again. Let's face this together, okay?"
A glint flashed in Lan Yi's eyes. He nodded slightly, his voice carrying a hint of determination: "Alright. We'll face it together."
A system notification softly sounded in their ears: "Affection value +20%, 'Lu Yin, I'm back. This time, I won't let you down again.'"
A tear glistened in Lu Yin's eyes. She nodded gently, her voice trembling slightly, "I believe you."
In the café within the system space, their hands clasped tightly, like two drifting leaves finally finding their home. Lan Yi's silence was no longer a cold barrier, but the prelude to the rekindling of their love.
