Chapter 54 Revolving Door

Chapter 54 Revolving Door

There was plenty of rain in June, and Wang Mang was about to graduate. He started his internship half a year earlier, working as a cog in a large factory. The good thing was that the house Wang Shu bought for him was close to the company, so he rode a motorcycle to work, saving a lot of commuting time. In fact, Wang Shu hoped that he would continue his studies and take the postgraduate entrance examination. If he wanted to study abroad, he would also support him, but Wang Mang said very firmly that he did not want to continue studying.

Yuan Xin's new job was sales at a women's clothing store. Sales was the only job she could find in Beijing without a degree, and it was Wang Meng who suggested she pursue this line of work. After all, odd jobs at convenience stores and cafeterias were aimless, but professional sales offered a promotion system and promising prospects with hard work, especially for someone like her who could endure any hardship. Wang Meng remembered her saying that when she ran a sex toy store, she was the only one who could calmly ask a group of middle-aged men which drug lasted longer while stocking up.

The women's clothing store where she worked was in the Raffles City. The two of them hadn't seen each other since they last met Shen Qingqing and Wang Shu, which was about half a month.

With ten minutes left before the end of the shift, Yuan Xin was exhausted after selling a set of clothes and shoes. The customer insisted on wearing them and was reluctant to take them off. Yuan Xin could only squat at the customer's feet and use scissors to cut the labels on her feet. However, she had a happy expression on her face and was calculating in her mind how much commission she could earn from this order. Until she sent the customer away and turned around to look outside, she suddenly saw Wang Mang holding a Lawson bag and two helmets on a bench in the mall.

Yuan Xin waved at him as a greeting, but found that Wang Mang was still turning his head to look in the direction the customer left. When his eyes met Yuan Xin's, he came to his senses, reached out, and knocked on the convenience store bag.

Yuan Xin turned around and said a few words to the manager, then ran out to find Wang Meng. "Why are you here?"

"I came to see you specially." Wang Mang would not lie. He said to Yuan Xin while taking chicken skewers from the convenience bag.

Yuan Xin turned her back to the shop and took a bite. She didn't even realize that some sauce had gotten on the corner of her mouth. She said happily in a low voice, "Delicious, delicious. I have to go back to work. It's almost time to get off work."

Wang Mangan took out a tissue and handed it to her. "Okay, I'll wait here for you to get off work."

Yuan Xin was going to deliver goods to the warehouse downstairs before getting off work. When Wang Mang saw her taking out a whole hanger of clothes and pushing them out, he followed her until they turned a corner where no one in the store could see them. He then reached out to help her push the clothes, and the two of them walked into the freight elevator.

Yuan Xin and Wang Meng were talking about how they had earned two hundred yuan in commission today.

"Amazing." Wang Mang said.

"That's not as good as you. You are the most powerful person in my heart."

In the past, Wang Meng always accepted her words silently and rarely asked questions in return. But today, Wang Meng suddenly asked her, "Why do you think I am so powerful?"

"Because you are good at studying and very smart." Yuan Xin said with certainty.

"But I'm bored." Wang Meng reminded her.

The freight elevator was moving very slowly. After it stopped at the second floor, another group of people carrying milk tea ingredients entered. Yuan Xin shrank back and whispered behind Wang Mang's ear, "I don't think you're boring. I think you just have a dry sense of humor."

Wang Mang wanted to ask something, but because there were people around, he didn't say anything. He waited until the elevator to the first floor opened, walked out first, and helped Yuan Xin pull the clothes hanger out.

After getting off the freight elevator, the people at the milk tea shop turned the corner and arrived at the warehouse. Yuanxin's warehouse was further away. The corridor had voice-activated lights and was next to an electrical well. Yuanxin walked while shouting at the voice-activated lights and complained, "We have the same rent, why did they assign our store such a dark and secluded warehouse?"

"Because you are dealing with clothing, there is no possibility of the clothes rotting or having a peculiar smell, and it will not be inconvenient to transport them," Wang Meng analyzed realistically.

"Actually, just follow my scolding and there's no need to be so serious." Yuan Xin asked again, "Why did you come to see me?"

"I have something small to check with you." Wang Meng said.

Yuan Xin had already unlocked the door and entered the warehouse to sort the clothes. She lowered her head and said without turning her head, "Just tell me."

Wang Mang leaned against the door of the storage room, the voice-activated light behind him flickering as salesmen from several other warehouses barked and laughed. Yuan Xin turned around and saw him staring at the door frame, as if he was still thinking, with his side profile facing her. At this moment, the mall's closing music was playing, and they really should hurry up.

Yuan Xin said again, "Go ahead and say it."

Wang Mang stared at the door frame and said woodenly, "Yuan Xin, we're always together. We chat and go to the movies together. Sometimes I help you solve some problems, and you help me solve some problems too. I'm always happy when we're together. When I see you, I want to talk and I also have some emotions I haven't experienced before. So I want to ask, can you be my girlfriend?"

Yuan Xin paused while holding the thing, then stood up suddenly. However, she suddenly suffered from hypoglycemia and lost her balance, falling back. Wang Mang hurried over to help her.

When Yuan Xin came to her senses, the first thing she said was, "This news is a bit urgent. It caused a sudden rush of blood to my brain. Now I have low blood sugar. I didn't eat dinner."

Wang Mang quickly took out the snacks from his handbag and handed them to Yuan Xin. Yuan Xin casually opened a piece of bread and ate it with big mouthfuls. Wang Mang waited obediently beside her until she finished eating. Yuan Xin said, "Say it again."

Wang Meng said, "I want to ask you if you can be my girlfriend."

"Why? Why did you ask me to be your girlfriend so suddenly?"

Yuan Xin became more and more nervous after asking this question, and stuffed the bread into his mouth hard.

Wang Meng said, "My brother came to me yesterday and told me that if we were to have a relationship, we should keep some wiggle room in our hearts because we are not suitable for further development."

Wang Mangan said, "Then I thought about how to get along with each other while leaving some room for compromise. After calculating it in my mind, I realized that even before I met you, I had no room for compromise. I laid it all out for you. So, thank you for being so brave and coming all this way to find me. You said I was amazing, but I'm not as brave as you."

After Wang Mangan finished speaking, he turned his head and found that Yuan Xin's mouth looked like a hamster.

Wang Meng had no choice but to tell him to eat slowly.

Yuan Xin swallowed the bread in her mouth fiercely and said to Wang Meng, "It's strange. I actually had a premonition about this moment. I always felt that we would be together, but sometimes I felt that we wouldn't. But I did think that if we were not together, I would still be willing to be friends with you for life. So I came to Beijing from Hangzhou without hesitation. It's not easy to meet someone in this world who you can talk to and is willing to open up to."

"Well, thank you." After Wang Mang said this, he took out a tissue and wiped her mouth.

Yuan Xin was struck by the sudden tenderness of this straight man and didn't know how to react for a moment. Finally, she slowly put on her salesman's tone and said, "Oh, you're welcome. I'm an orphan, and life is different everywhere."

Wang Meng asked for the third time, "Can you be my girlfriend?"

Yuan Xin nodded, then patted Wang Meng's shoulder and said, "Thank you for taking me in."

Wang Mang reached out and touched Yuan Xin's hair, "I want to thank you for taking me in."

The voice-activated light outside flickered on again, and Yuan Xin was thinking that at this moment, God must exist in the world.

-

What Beijing has the most is people. Zhou Chengyuan's phone ran out of battery and turned off. He sat pitifully on the bench, staring at the entrance of the Raffles, afraid of missing Sasa coming out. There were still people coming and going in front of him, even though it was already 9:30 in the evening.

He watched as a boy and a girl, each holding a helmet, squeezed hand in hand through a revolving door, got out of a Volkswagen, then got on a motorcycle and drove away. He also saw the girl hugging the boy's waist tightly.

Zhou Chengyuan was struck by the light feeling of love. He slowly placed his elbows on his knees and supported his face. At this moment, he was thinking about which clothes to go back and get. He was silently matching them in his mind, as if playing a movie in his mind.

Soon, Sasa appeared at the entrance of the mall, carrying a cake, standing in the revolving door and slowly walking out. Zhou Chengyuan saw a man behind her, staring at her. He was only a short distance away from her, but he went into the next door. Zhou Chengyuan immediately stood up and wanted to cross the street to greet Sasa, but suddenly found that she stopped and waited for the man behind her, then turned around to speak.

The throngs of cars obscured his view, even Sasa's thin figure, making the scene in front of him unclear. Not wanting to disturb her, Zhou Chengyuan stood up and sat back down, waiting for her to call him. The road in front of Raffles City was already narrow, and Sasa spotted him immediately with her sharp eyes. She gestured to Zhou Chengyuan, "Come here!"

Zhou Chengyuan pointed at himself in confusion. Seeing her nod, he crossed the road and walked to her side.

-

Lin Bozhou saw Zhou Chengyuan coming over from across the street and asked Sasa beside him, "Date?"

Sasa shook her head, "Of course not, he's just a younger brother."

Lin Baizhou stopped looking at Zhou Chengyuan and looked up at the sky. He said to Sasa, "Is it going to rain?"

When Zhou Chengyuan came over, Lin Bozhou's driver had already parked in front of them in a Maybach. When the driver came to open the door, Lin Bozhou turned his head to look at them and asked, "Do you need me to take you there?"

Sasa wanted to laugh, because she suddenly felt that this moment was wonderful. She had actually thought that she and Lin Bozhou would part in anger, never to see each other again, but unexpectedly, the moment they left the restaurant, her anger disappeared. Perhaps it was because of her age and her experience with Chen Ang, she actually enjoyed this "goodbye". He had taught her a lesson in a relaxed manner. After all, neither of them suffered any loss, not in time, not in emotion; she only suffered a little setback from misjudging. But as she was about to turn thirty, she felt that misjudgment was not that important. Every successful trial and error before entering a relationship could be considered a stroke of luck.

Sasa shook her head expressionlessly, "No need, I really want to take the subway today."

Zhou Chengyuan followed behind Sasa and politely waved goodbye to Lin Baizhou.

Before Lin Bozhou got into the car, he turned around and said to Sasa, "Call me if you have anything."

Sasa smiled and nodded, then asked the driver to drive slowly.

Zhou Chengyuan watched the car drive away, then turned around and asked, "Is this your client?"

Sasa shook her head and said, "This is the person I've been dating for the past six months."

Zhou Chengyuan took a step back and covered his mouth in surprise. He asked Sasa, "Then your date asked you if I'm your date?"

Sasa smoothed her hair and said slowly, "What's wrong?"

Zhou Chengyuan smiled. "You guys are so open. But sister, I'm sorry to bother you. If I had known, I would have taken the subway back by myself to avoid delaying you."

Sasa said, "It's okay, we won't meet again in the future."

As Sasa spoke, she turned and walked towards the subway station. Zhou Chengyuan, with his long arms and legs, rushed over to Sasa and walked backwards while talking to her. "Why? I'm curious."

"There's no reason. Since we're dating, shouldn't it be up to us to decide whether to date or not?" Sasa said relaxedly.

Zhou Chengyuan looked her up and down with an incredulous expression. "Actually, when I was in my first relationship, he also suggested we date first. I said okay, but we didn't feel very good on the date. However, we stayed together due to other relationships, but we broke up in less than half a year."

"Half a year is neither long nor short. When did you discuss it?"

"That was last year."

Sasa couldn't help but think in her heart, you are really a youngster, you are tall and strong, and you just had your first love last year.

-

When the two of them got home, it was almost twelve o'clock. Sasa unlocked the door and walked into the room. Without looking back, she said, "Get your clothes and leave. I'm too tired and need to stay for a while."

Zhou Chengyuan asked, "Can I go to the bathroom?"

Sasa said, "Please go ahead, but please close the door tightly when you leave."

Sasa closed her eyes and reviewed what happened that day in bed, from the hospital to Lin Bozhou and the cake she snatched back. Thinking of the cake, Sasa opened her eyes quickly.

-

Zhou Chengyuan sat on the toilet and subconsciously reached into the secret compartment behind the toilet, but he took out a box of cigarettes that was not his. He was suddenly stunned. His parents often came to Beijing to see him, and he always hid the cigarettes here. He reached out out of muscle memory, but he didn't expect that the cigarettes inside had changed brands, and they were obviously Sasa's.

Zhou Chengyuan shouted from the toilet, "Sister, can I have a cigarette from you?"

"casual."

Zhou Chengyuan turned on the exhaust and lit a cigarette. While smoking, he looked at himself in the mirror. He reached out and touched his face. The thick makeup was almost hardened. He wanted to take off his makeup at Sasa's house, but he was afraid it would be too rude. But he didn't want to look at his own face. So he simply looked outside through the bathroom window. After finishing his cigarette, he found that the bathroom window began to drizzle. It was raining and it was very late. He washed his hands and walked out of the bathroom, intending to make a quick end.

He was stunned as soon as he opened the bathroom door. Sasa's cake was placed on the coffee table with five candles on it. Sasa put her hands together and muttered something. After she finished muttering, she blew out the candles in one breath and then opened her eyes.

When he was decorating the room, he installed warm lights in order to make it look good in photos. The sound of raindrops hitting the windows was getting louder and louder. At this moment, the emotions that surged in Zhou Chengyuan's heart told him that the atmosphere in the living room was warm, which seemed to match the heavy rain outside the window.

Sasa heard the sound of the door, made a wish quickly, opened her eyes and turned her head, and saw Zhou Chengyuan looking at her at the bathroom door. Sasa explained, "Today is my birthday, I made a wish. It's almost twelve o'clock, and it's unlucky after this time."

After saying that, she pointed to the clock hand in front of her. It was one minute to twelve.

Zhou Chengyuan scratched his head and said, "Well, congratulations on your new life. I'll be leaving after I get my clothes."

After Sasa said okay, she began to stretch out her fingers to pick up a piece of cream and put it in her mouth.

Just as Zhou Chengyuan turned around to go to the cloakroom, his stomach started to growl.
