Chapter 288 An Unexpected Opening

Qin Luo looked at Dan Bingli's slightly flustered back and couldn't help but chuckle. But when he saw the room Dan Bingli entered, his face immediately froze.

"Oh no!"

After saying that, he quickly went upstairs.

At that moment, after entering the cubicle, Dan Bingli leaned against the door, her heart pounding like a drum. She raised her hand to gently touch her burning cheeks, secretly scolding herself for her loss of composure.

Suddenly, inside the room, Dan Bingli caught a faint, ethereal fragrance, its aroma wafting and enchanting, like a dream. This immediately made her think of something, and without hesitation, she flung open the door and strode outside.

Unexpectedly, this sudden action caused her to bump into Qin Luo, who had just reached the door of the room.

The sudden impact caused Qin Luo to stagger backward, nearly losing his balance and falling. Fortunately, he managed to regain his footing in time, and his hands almost instinctively reached out to support Dan Bingli's waist.

A strong masculine scent instantly enveloped her, making Dan Bingli feel dizzy.

His strong hands rested on her slender waist, like an electric current running through her body, making her limbs go numb and her legs go weak. She involuntarily slumped into Qin Luo's arms.

After a moment of silence, Qin Luo was the first to come to his senses. He coughed lightly and said, somewhat awkwardly:

"Miss Dan, I forgot to tell you, the atmosphere in this room might be a bit stuffy. I was just about to come up and remind you."

"You...you let me go!"

With a hint of helplessness and a sob in her voice, Dan Bingli's tone was full of embarrassment and panic. But her body wouldn't obey her commands, and she could only twist in vain.

Qin Luo inwardly groaned; this unintentional, gentle twist almost caused his reason to collapse completely.

Fortunately, with his last shred of clarity, he quickly released his hands that had been resting on her slender waist.

At this moment, Dan Bingli appeared weak and powerless, her legs trembling, almost unable to support herself.

In her panic, she instinctively placed her hands on Qin Luo's broad chest to barely support her swaying body.

Her chest rose and fell slightly with her rapid breathing, and her clear, bright eyes were glistening with tears, as if silently resenting Qin Luo.

Qin Luo didn't dare to make the slightest move, simply standing quietly, letting Dan Bingli lean on him. He could clearly feel the slight trembling from her fingertips, and the warm breath that enveloped his neck.

After a while, Dan Bingli was enveloped by the unique aura of Qin Luo that lingered around her nose, and her strength seemed to be gradually drained away, making her feel increasingly weak and powerless.

Overwhelmed with a mixture of shame and resentment, she could barely contain herself and could only murmur in a very low voice:

"I...I can't muster any strength."

Her voice was as faint as a mosquito's buzz, almost inaudible, yet filled with endless shyness, and concealing a hint of barely perceptible grievance.

Upon hearing her words, a glint flashed in Qin Luo's eyes. He knew that Dan Bingli meant for him to push her away, but his mind changed, and he simply picked her up in his arms.

Caught completely off guard, Dan Bingli gasped softly and instinctively wrapped her arms around Qin Luo's neck.

His eyes widened instantly, filled with astonishment. He wanted to say something, but the sudden action made him choke on his words.

Qin Luo lowered his head and looked at the beauty in his arms. Seeing her like this, he found it somewhat amusing.

"Miss Dan, please don't misunderstand. I just wanted to carry you to another room to rest for a while. I had no choice but to be so presumptuous."

Hearing what he said, Dan Bingli didn't know how to respond; agreeing or refusing was not an option either.

She could only bury her face in his chest, afraid to look up, her heart pounding like a deer, her thoughts in turmoil. At this moment, she could clearly hear Qin Luo's steady and powerful heartbeat, a sound that made her even more flustered, yet for some reason, she felt a strange sense of peace.

Qin Luo carried her steadily toward Murong Liyue's room, each step extremely calm, as if afraid of disturbing the beauty in his arms.

After gently placing Dan Bingli on the bed, Qin Luo straightened up, only to find that Dan Bingli was still curled up, her face turned towards the inside of the bed, refusing to look at him.

Seeing her guilty-looking expression, Qin Luo couldn't help but chuckle. After a moment's hesitation, she gently sat down beside her.

Upon seeing this, Dan Bingli, like a frightened rabbit, instantly shrank back into the bed in a panic.

Her heart was pounding, her mind went blank, and her body's instinct made her want to distance herself from Qin Luo as much as possible, as if that would hide the panic deep inside her.

Her hands unconsciously gripped the blanket tightly, her eyes were full of helplessness, and her heart felt like a jumble of emotions.

On the one hand, Qin Luo's sudden approach made her feel uneasy. This unprecedented act of intimacy violently challenged the boundaries of her long-held reserve and shyness.

On the other hand, deep down, there was a faint, peculiar expectation, which made her even more at a loss about her own reaction, and she could only use avoidance to cover up her inner turmoil.

This caused Dan Bingli's thoughts to drift involuntarily, and she couldn't help but think:

"What should I do if he suddenly becomes unrestrained and acts like a beast?"

After all, before parting, her mother had repeatedly instructed her that there was a difference between men and women, and that this should not be easily transgressed.

Once you are outside, never trust others, especially men. Most of them harbor ill intentions, often only coveting your appearance and even attempting to take advantage of what our people have preserved...

But the expected offense did not occur. Instead, Qin Luo, sitting by the bed, conjured bottles of pills in his hand with a flash of light, which he then gently placed beside Dan Bingli.

"Miss Dan, I don't think I'm some kind of monster who'll eat people later, do I?" Qin Luo raised an eyebrow slightly, saying with a hint of teasing and helplessness, "Please rest assured, I have no ill intentions."

"These pills may be helpful for your future cultivation. I will be away for a while in the coming period. Just stay here and focus on your cultivation. There is no need to worry too much."

"Are you complaining that I'm disturbing your cultivation? If that's the case, you don't need to go out, and I don't necessarily have to stay here!"

Dan Bingli's gaze drifted to the pills placed to one side, Qin Luo's words echoing in her ears, and those words, tinged with a hint of grievance, slipped out of her mouth.

But as soon as she finished speaking, Dan Bingli immediately regretted it, realizing the impulsiveness of her words.

The tone sounded like a lover's coquettishness, filled with intimacy and resentment, completely devoid of the usual indifference and aloofness.
