Half a day... is it still a bit of a stretch?
Qin Luo keenly grasped this key phrase and understood that with such a short time together, no one would easily trust another person without reservation.
However, it's not like there's no way out; we just have to take another gamble...
But looking at Dongfang Jinyao's confused eyes, Qin Luo still felt there was a very high chance of success.
He narrowed his eyes, weighing the pros and cons in his mind, and then took a deep breath as if he had made up his mind.
Thinking of this, he sighed heavily, and then, as if all his energy had been drained, he swayed and leaned dejectedly against the rock once more.
His head was bowed, his hair was disheveled and fell across his forehead, and his usually bright eyes were now clouded with a dullness. His lips were slightly chapped, his once straight back was hunched, and he exuded an aura of loss.
Seeing Qin Luo's self-destructive state, Dongfang Jinyao felt a pang of unease. She bit her lower lip, turned her back, and tried to make her voice sound as cold as possible:
"I... I need to assess the situation further. You should stabilize your injuries first."
Even so, she couldn't help but steal glances at Qin Luo, her eyes filled with worry.
She kept blaming herself. She had just said she would observe him, so why was she so worried when she saw him like this?
Qin Luo remained silent, leaning against the rock. His head was bowed, and the injuries on his body were shocking. His clothes were now tattered, and dried bloodstains on his body spread like grotesque patterns.
Blood beads still seeped from the wound from time to time, slowly sliding down the skin and dripping onto the ground, leaving a small dark stain.
He seemed completely oblivious to this, letting the pain rage through his body, appearing to be lost in his despair.
Not hearing Qin Luo's response for a long time, Dongfang Jinyao became increasingly flustered. Her hands unconsciously clenched and unclenched at her sides, as if searching for something to lean on, but unable to grasp it.
This feeling of unfamiliarity, coupled with the pressure to make a choice again, left her feeling lost and confused.
Time passed in silence between the two, each second accompanied by the faint sound of blood dripping, causing Dongfang Jinyao immense inner turmoil.
After a long while, Dongfang Jinyao finally couldn't hold back any longer. She turned around abruptly, looked at Qin Luo who was ashen-faced, and squatted down.
His lips trembled slightly as he spoke softly:
"You...you shouldn't be like this. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just...it's just that I really need time to slowly accept all of this."
She reached out her hand, but stopped in mid-air. After hesitating for a moment, she finally placed her hand lightly on Qin Luo's hand.
"Let's stabilize the injury first, okay?"
We won the bet!
As expected, forcing her to make a choice was the fastest way, but it also carried great risks. If he hadn't accurately assessed Dongfang Jinyao's inner confusion and her barely perceptible concern for him, he would never have dared to take such a risk.
Feeling the warmth on the back of his hand, Qin Luo grasped Dongfang Jinyao's soft, boneless hand in return, then silently looked at her, his eyes regaining their sparkle.
Dongfang Jinyao struggled slightly, but found that Qin Luo's hand was gripping her like an iron clamp and he wouldn't let go.
This filled her with both shame and anger. She turned her face away and said sharply:
"Hurry up and get treatment! Do you think you're made of iron? You're so badly injured and you're still dawdling here. If anything happens to you, I won't be responsible for you!"
Qin Luo showed no intention of letting go; a slight smile played on his lips.
"Jin Yao".
Without saying much, Qin Luo called out softly, his voice like a gentle spring breeze, softly caressing Dongfang Jinyao's heart.
Qin Luo held her hand and slowly closed his eyes, his breathing gradually becoming steady.
With each breath, a faint mist rose from his body, swirling around him, and his gruesome wounds began to heal in an extremely slow manner.
"Hmph! You really are a big liar. I never expected you to say anything reliable."
Upon seeing the white mist appear, Dongfang Jinyao couldn't help but frown slightly and mutter a complaint under her breath.
At this moment, she was filled with resentment towards Qin Luo. Thinking about his weak and feeble appearance before, she figured he was probably just faking it to get her concern. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
But the hand that was being held tightly showed no intention of breaking free.
He let Qin Luo hold him firmly in her palm, then gracefully put his legs together and placed them to the side, his slender legs neatly concealed by his clothes, and sat quietly to the side.
His gaze unconsciously fell on Qin Luo, his eyes carrying a hint of reproach, as if blaming Qin Luo for his previous "pretense".
Beneath this melancholy lay a few unusual emotions, a subtle feeling that even she herself could hardly describe—perhaps a flutter of the heart, perhaps concern, or perhaps a hazy affection that was a mixture of both.
Qin Luo pretended to be completely unaware of this, maintaining his composed demeanor as if he were still immersed in healing. In reality, however, he was secretly savoring this hard-won time with Dongfang Jinyao.
He deliberately slowed down his recovery, his fingers occasionally stroking Dongfang Jinyao's soft, jade-like hand, the delicate touch stirring his heartstrings again and again.
This seemingly unintentional action made Dongfang Jinyao's face burn even hotter.
Her pretty face, which already carried a hint of reproach, was now flushed crimson, a deep blush spreading from her cheeks to her ears and down to her neck. Her cheeks were like ripe cherries, luscious and alluring.
