When You Yueying's prompt rang in Qin Luo's mind, he instantly turned his gaze to the northwest.
Looking into the distance, two figures hidden under cloaks were approaching and gradually came into Qin Luo's view.
As the distance closed, Qin Luo was surprised to find that the one in control between the two was actually the cloaked figure whose aura seemed to be weaker.
"Human powerhouse, your actions have gone a bit too far." A cold voice drifted from the cloaked figure, whose cultivation seemed low. Every word carried an innate air of superiority. "This is not your human territory. You act recklessly and plunder here. Do you not respect the descendants of our divine beast race?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Luo frowned, his gaze piercing through the gaps in the cloak as he began to carefully examine the two people before him.
Through the narrow gap, he could vaguely sense a coldness in the voice that kept people at a distance, and an extraordinary temperament in every gesture. The person who spoke did not seem to be a member of the fox clan at all.
"Descendants of divine beasts?" Qin Luo murmured. "They certainly have an arrogant tone. However, before you rashly interfere in my grudges and feuds with this fox clan, you'd better weigh your own strength first."
Qin Luo spoke indifferently, his words filled with force as he faced the two who had suddenly appeared.
Just then, Silver Frost had just recovered from the excruciating pain in her mind when she caught sight of the two figures in cloaks. Her already bloodless face turned even paler in an instant.
Immediately afterwards, she staggered toward Qin Luo's side.
Yinshuang whispered in Qin Luo's ear, almost touching it, explaining their origins to him:
"My lord, these two... are merfolk from the central region of the Ancient Void Continent. Not long ago, they appeared in our fox clan and asked for a spot in the festival."
Her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz, yet it was tinged with fear; every word seemed to be squeezed out from between her teeth.
Upon hearing Yinshuang's explanation, Qin Luo was filled with surprise. His gaze couldn't help but linger on the two mysterious cloaked figures in the distance, and he subconsciously muttered to himself:
"Mermaids?"
The cloaked figure, whose cultivation level seemed not to be very high, slowly raised his head upon hearing Qin Luo's undisguised murmur, his movements exuding an innate elegance.
Beneath the cloak, a pair of deep blue eyes came into Qin Luo's view, like a vast and boundless ocean.
Qin Luo sneered at this, "The dignified Merfolk, instead of staying peacefully in their own territory, have come to the Fox Clan's land to demand a spot in the festival, and are even putting on a show of accusation against me. I wonder how your behavior is any different from mine?"
Unexpectedly, as soon as Qin Luo finished speaking, the cloaked figure who had been silent all along seemed to be completely enraged by Qin Luo's words, and suddenly took a step forward.
As he took that step, a powerful aura erupted from his body, and in an instant, a strong sense of oppression swept over Qin Luo from his center.
A fourth-rank sage!
"Insolence!" he roared in a deep voice, carrying an undeniable authority. "How dare you, a mere human, be so disrespectful before the Holy Maiden!"
A saintess? It's not like you, a saintess, need to come to this remote corner to ask for a spot. Are you kidding me?
However, Qin Luo was too lazy to think about the reason. His body was surrounded by dazzling four-colored light, which blocked the pressure.
"I want to see for myself what kind of tricks the so-called Merfolk have up their sleeves!"
Before the words were even finished, Qin Luo took the talisman that Dongfang Jinyao had given him without saying a word. As spiritual energy slowly flowed into it, the talisman shone brightly, its dazzling halo like a blazing sun, illuminating everything around it.
The moment the talisman appeared, the cloaked man, a fourth-rank saint, felt an unprecedented and deadly threat.
His pupils contracted sharply, and his whole body tensed up instantly.
The cloaked man's lips parted slightly, but he was too shocked to fully express his astonishment. He subconsciously took a step back, his gaze fixed on the talisman in Qin Luo's hand, a few large beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.
Noticing the strange behavior of the cloaked man beside her, Saintess Yue Lishan frowned slightly and glanced at him subconsciously.
The cloaked man swallowed hard, suppressing his inner panic, and said urgently in a voice only the two of them could hear:
“Holy Maiden, we really can’t get involved in this mess any longer. The power contained in that talisman is far beyond my ability to resist. If we act rashly, the consequences will be unimaginable, and we will most likely perish here!”
Upon hearing his words, Yue Lishan's expression turned solemn, her gaze shifting back and forth between Qin Luo and the talisman, as she struggled intensely within herself.
Seeing that Yue Lishan was still hesitant, the cloaked man continued to persuade her, "Holy Maiden, it was already somewhat inappropriate to get involved in the affairs of the Fox Clan so rashly. Now that you have encountered such a troublesome person and a terrifying talisman, it would be wise to withdraw in time. Otherwise, once the talisman is activated, it will be too late."
Yue Lishan frowned, biting her lower lip lightly. After thinking for a long time, she asked in a low voice, "Uncle Rong, are we just going to leave like this? It's such a waste to give up after all the trouble we went through to get a spot?"
The cloaked man sighed deeply:
“Holy Maiden, as long as we live, we can always fight again. If we act rashly and confront these humans head-on, we might lose more than just our spots; we could lose our lives as well.”
Just then, Du Yu, who had been under Qin Luo's thumb, saw the situation reach a stalemate and panicked.
