Qin Luo looked up into the distance, as if glimpsing a vast unknown beyond this small world, and slowly spoke:
"Once the matter of the Ancestral Pool is settled, I will leave the Ancient Ruins Continent. The next time I meet Nuantang, if she can stir my heart and touch my soul, then I will leave your fate entirely to her."
Upon hearing this, Yue Lishan stood frozen in place, feeling as if she had fallen into an ice cellar, her enthusiasm extinguished by this bucket of cold water.
"My lord, I do not understand why my fate must be decided by Miss Nuantang?"
Qin Luo sighed softly and explained again:
“I’m not entirely unaware of your complicated thoughts. I let Nuantang make the decision because she is simple-minded and without any ulterior motives. If she can accept you, it means you are worth keeping. If she cannot accept you, then it can only mean that our fate has come to an end.”
Qin Luo had no choice but to make this arrangement.
Initially, he did indeed regard Yue Lishan as a pawn to protect Nuantang.
But after what just happened, he simply couldn't bring himself to treat her like a disposable tool, using her and then forgetting about her.
In the end, this was the only solution Qin Luo could come up with.
In this way, during the days when he was away from the Ancient Ruins Continent, Yue Lishan would do her best to protect Nuantang out of consideration for her own future.
This would give Yue Lishan something to look forward to and soothe her heart at this moment.
As for when he would see them again, Qin Luo already had a plan in mind. Perhaps this parting would be the last time they met; it wasn't impossible.
Upon hearing this, Yue Lishan felt a mix of emotions.
She was naturally perceptive, so how could she not understand the deeper meaning in Qin Luo's words?
During the brief silence, her eyes shifted rapidly, filled with disappointment and resentment, but these were quickly replaced by a resolute determination.
She moved with graceful steps, stopping three steps away from Qin Luo. Then, she curtsied elegantly.
"Since you've said so, I can only do as you say. I understand that my previous thoughts may have made you wary."
At this point, she raised her head, staring intently at Qin Luo, her eyes revealing genuine sincerity for the first time, "To demonstrate my determination to protect Miss Nuantang, I humbly request that you impose restrictions on me, no matter how harsh they may be, I will have no complaints and am willing to bear them!"
Qin Luo was surprised when he heard this. He had originally planned to place restrictions on Yue Lishan to ensure Nuantang's safety, but he did not expect that Yue Lishan would take the initiative to make this request.
He gazed at Yue Lishan and saw that her eyes not only held sincerity, but also a deep-seated, undisguised grievance, like a puppy being unjustly misunderstood by its owner, filled with sadness and confusion.
This stirred a pang of guilt in Qin Luo's heart. He sighed softly, his voice losing some of its usual coldness and gaining a hint of helplessness and softening:
"Fine, since you've said so, I'll believe you this once. I hope you won't disappoint me."
After saying that, he waved his hand, indicating that Yue Lishan could leave.
Seeing this, Yue Lishan forced back her tears, curtsied, and her voice trembled slightly, but she tried her best to remain calm:
"Thank you for your trust, sir. I will certainly not let you down."
After saying that, she turned around and walked unsteadily toward the door.
After she left, Qin Luo was about to rub his throbbing forehead, but his expression changed the next moment, and he quickly focused his mind into his dantian...
After leaving Qin Luo, Yue Lishan staggered as she walked outside.
As she walked behind the wall of white mist that isolated her from the outside world, she waved her hand, and the water curtain she had carefully arranged to deceive others dissipated like wisps of smoke.
The moment the water curtain disappeared, a slender figure appeared—it was Nuantang. She was staring wide-eyed at Yue Lishan, her gaze filled with intense resentment and hatred.
Seeing Nuantang, Yue Lishan felt a headache coming on. The relationship between the two was not easy to reconcile, and she needed to take drastic measures now.
With a thought, Yue Lishan seemed to have made up her mind. As she approached the white mist, Qin Luo's aura still lingered on her body, like an invisible secret pass.
Sensing this familiar aura, the Primordial Breath of Chaos unconsciously began to fade away. The white mist, which had previously kept everyone at a distance, now made way for Yue Lishan.
Yue Lishan breathed a sigh of relief and quickly reached out, her spiritual energy flashing as she grabbed Nuantang's wrist and dragged her inside.
Before Nuantang could protest, Yue Lishan pulled her along and flew into the mist wall of the Primordial Breath.
The fog wall, which would normally repel anyone who approached it, seemed to be allowed to disappear under Yue Lishan's spiritual energy, shedding its layers of obstruction.
In this way, she successfully pulled Nuantang inside the fog wall.
Upon entering, Nuantang's eyes blazed with fury. Her pale purple spiritual energy transformed into sharp wind blades, carrying boundless rage as they hurtled towards Yue Lishan.
"You shameless woman, how dare you lay your hands on Brother Qin! You...you are utterly unforgivable!"
Nuantang's sharp voice echoed in the silent space, each word squeezed out from between her teeth, filled with resentment.
Yue Lishan didn't expect Nuantang to suddenly attack. In her panic, she dodged to the side, and a sharp wind blade grazed her cheek, causing a slight sting.
"It seems this girl hates me to the core. This is getting a bit troublesome."
Yue Lishan thought helplessly to herself, and then, taking advantage of the gap in Nuantang's attack, quickly formed hand seals.
All around her, a thick water dragon condensed at a visible speed, baring its fangs and claws as it lunged at Nuantang.
