Chapter 13 Bonus "Next time Yi Sheng comes, tell me..."
There are usually not many customers in the morning; people gradually start to arrive after about 10:30.
Once at their workstations, most people just organize their tasks and slack off a bit.
Ever since that unpleasant day with her stepfather, Bai Yeke has stubbornly refused to eat breakfast at home, no matter how much her mother tries to persuade her.
The sky outside the window was gloomy. The weather forecast said it would be sunny today, but the clouds overhead were all a dark gray color.
After finishing the steamed buns she had brought on the way, Bai Ye took a mug to the tea room to make some cold medicine, and then returned to her seat to drink it slowly.
"Shh~" He Xin suddenly whispered to her. Bai Ye looked over and saw the store manager inspecting outside the glass door.
Bai Yeke understood, bringing up the computer's work interface with her right hand, while casually stirring the medicine in the cup with her left.
Soon, the store manager had wandered over to their design department. Unlike usual, after making her rounds, she stopped by Bai Yeke's side before leaving, looking at the dark liquid in her glass, and asked, "What's this?"
"I have a bit of a cold," Bai Yeke explained.
"Take care of yourself." The shop manager gently patted Bai Yeke's shoulder and said even more softly, "Come out with me for a bit."
Bai Ye only had time to exchange a glance with He Xin; both of them were completely bewildered as to what was going on.
The store manager led Bai Yeke into his office and said, "Sit down."
Bai Yeke sat down at the store manager's desk, while the store manager returned to his own seat and spoke with Bai Yeke face to face.
"I heard that on the night you worked overtime, Mr. Yi came over, and you even got into his car?" the store manager asked her.
Bai Ye had no idea what the store manager was planning, so she vaguely replied, "Hmm."
"Hehe, don't be nervous." The store manager chuckled. "We were worried that you, as a newcomer, wouldn't be able to handle this case well, but it seems you're doing very well now."
The store manager took an envelope out of the drawer. "This is a bonus set aside separately by the store."
Bai Ye was taken aback and instinctively refused.
She was simply doing the work that every designer should do. Although she had put a lot of effort into that design, she knew in her heart that while it was good, it wasn't the best. Other designers in the store, especially the top designers, could have done the same.
"Don't rush to reject it. The solution I'm talking about goes beyond just design."
Bai Ye was slow to realize it.
Design is important, but what they want is not just this case, but the cooperation that follows. Now that the cooperation has been successfully reached, Yi Sheng took her to the car again that night. In the eyes of the leaders, she has done a very good job in maintaining client relationships.

"Alright, you can go back now. There's nothing else. Focus on your work." The store manager added softly, "Once the project is finished, it won't just be the bonus; your status as a designer will rise significantly."
Bai Ye politely assured him that she would work hard and live up to the store manager's expectations, and then quietly left.
The envelope in her hand felt solid, and the store manager's instructions echoed in Bai Yeke's mind. But she wasn't overjoyed, nor did she have the excitement of a newcomer who suddenly didn't know her place. She just felt that the road ahead was clearer, and she would do her job with a more down-to-earth attitude.
However, there is one more thing that Bai Yeke really needs to think about.
Once the bonus is paid out, she should have some savings. Should she rent an apartment first, or make a down payment and take out a loan to buy a car?
She sighed softly, recalling the countless farces caused by her, her stepfather's mockery and mistreatment, her mother's heartache and tears...

After working at her desk for the latter half of the morning, Bai Ye took another cold medicine bath during her lunch break.

He had never seen his distant cousin like this before. He had thought she was a pushover, but he hadn't expected her to have such a temper and be so good at making people angry.
Lu Feiteng completely exploded, angrily retorting, almost shouting, "What do you know? Of course my men have orders, it's just that I haven't had time to sign some of them yet!"
That's true. He's been busy messing around, his office is piled high with documents, and his subordinates are all waiting.
