Chapter 52 Joyful Mood: Maintaining the Hand-in-Hand Posture
In the dark, vision is limited, but other sensory experiences are amplified.
Bai Ye felt a rush of heat to her ears, and that apt remark made her feel as if a white fog had enveloped her from head to toe, leaving her completely oblivious to everything around her.
Blankness, bewilderment, and an instinctive flutter of the heart.
They remained in that position in the darkness for another two minutes.
Yi Sheng spoke first. She let go of his hand, took out her phone from her small bag, and turned on the flashlight. "It's getting dark. Let's go eat first?"
Bai Ye belatedly felt embarrassed. She took a small step back, looked down at her toes, and then suddenly realized that with this light and field of vision, everything looked the same, and Yi Sheng wouldn't know what she was looking at.
So she looked in Yi Sheng's direction and said, "Okay."
In the darkness, one could see the outline of Yi Sheng's outstretched hand.
Bai Yeke pursed her lips and placed her hand on top of him. Instantly, Yi Sheng pulled his hand away, and the two held hands in a way that was neither too tight nor too loose.
They had only taken two steps, and before Bai Yeke's smile could fully form, Yi Sheng turned his head and asked her, "Are we... officially together?"
Together?
Bai Yeke reacted for a moment, "Hmm..." Her voice was very soft, almost blending into the darkness.
Yi Sheng did not answer.
A sense of panic rose in Bai Yeke's heart, and she asked, "What's wrong?"
Has Yi Sheng changed his mind?
Or is it that you don't consider that hug, that kiss, or that "I like you" as anything special?
"nothing."
Although Yi Sheng's expression was not visible, there was a hint of laughter in his voice, indicating that he was in a good mood.
Bai Yeke then heard Yi Sheng say, "It's just a little uncertain."
Her cool voice was slow and gentle, as if a dragonfly skimming the surface of a lake in Bai Yeke's heart, creating ripples.
For some unknown reason, Bai Yeke grabbed Yi Sheng's hand and pulled it back slightly. Yi Sheng stopped in her tracks, looked down at her, and then Bai Yeke quickly turned around, tilted her head back, and gave Yi Sheng a quick kiss on the lips before turning back to face him. "I like you too."
Is that confirmed?
Yi Sheng seemed somewhat taken aback or rather surprised, and after two seconds she chuckled softly, "Mm."
The two walked out of the door and through the corridor to wait for the elevator, still holding hands. The elevator arrived much faster than the one in Bai Yeke's current apartment.
The elevator doors opened, and there was no one else inside. They went in, and as they descended the floors, more people started to enter. There were leisurely elderly people, and a delivery guy who seemed to be in a hurry.
To make room, they gradually moved to a corner inside the elevator. Neither of them said anything, but they also tacitly agreed not to let go of each other's hands.
They walked all the way to the underground parking lot and only let go of each other's hands when they reached the car. When Bai Ye got into the car, she noticed that the hand she was holding was exposed, but it seemed to be warmer than the hand in her pocket. She quietly moved that hand out of Yi Sheng's sight and felt that her palm was burning. She fastened her seatbelt without making a sound and smiled slightly.
"What do you want to eat?" Yi Sheng asked her.
"And you?"
"Heh." Yi Sheng chuckled lightly, as if joking, "As for me, I want to eat potato towers, fried chicken, and those takoyaki you had last time."
"You have a good appetite today?" Bai Yeke wanted to laugh. Yi Sheng usually only needed one serving, but this time he actually said he wanted three.
“Yes.” Yi Sheng gave an affirmative answer, and added, “We can share it, just like those two girls.”
"Huh?" Bai Ye was taken aback, then recalled the scene from that day: the two girls exchanging food without any restraint, and Yi Sheng drinking her milk tea that day...
Looking back now, it's a very special feeling, especially since the two of them are different now, they're together, which makes me feel a kind of indescribable shyness.
"Ahem." Yi Sheng glanced at her briefly, then turned back to look at the road ahead, being particularly careful about her feelings. "If it's too fast, then forget it."
"We can eat something else," Yi Sheng said with a forced smile, trying to ease the tension. "Actually, I don't really want to eat those snacks. Let's eat something else."
"No." Bai Yeke instinctively denied it after hearing this.
"Um?"
"It won't be too fast..." Bai Yeke said calmly, yet felt helpless, "How could we possibly be inferior to true best friends..."
After saying this, Bai Ye frowned in annoyance. Damn it, she now instinctively felt ashamed of the word "best friend".
Sure enough, Yi Sheng immediately laughed out loud, though very softly, but she heard it.
"Do you still want to eat what I just mentioned?" Bai Yeke changed the subject.
"It doesn't matter." Yi Sheng heard what she wanted to hear. "Eating other things is the same."
Finally, the two went to eat mutton hot pot.
They were still on the food court floor of the same building as the Parkview Apartments; it seemed the two of them had gotten used to coming here.
The dishes were served quickly, the copper pot was bubbling away, and the waiter first helped them put in the radishes and taro, which take longer to cook. The other side dishes were mostly leafy greens, which could be added slowly.
"Miss Yi, what are you staring at?" Bai Yeke noticed that Yi Sheng was staring blankly at the copper pot and found it rather intriguing.
Yi Sheng snapped out of her daze, smiled with a hint of apology and regret, and said, "It's okay, I just realized that we should have celebrated properly, I shouldn't have chosen hot pot."
Bai Ye was taken aback. She felt that hot pot was just hot pot, and her face felt like it was being steamed. She retorted, her face burning, "Hot pot is a good way to celebrate. Besides, we should eat hot pot in winter."
Seeing Bai Yeke's serious expression, Yi Sheng couldn't help but laugh and nodded, "Mm."
A hot pot meal leaves you feeling warm and cozy from your stomach to your entire body.
Near the end, Yi Sheng asked Bai Yeke, "Want to come back with me later?"
Go back with her?
Bai Yeke was subconsciously surprised, "Isn't that a bit too fast?"
How did things get to this point?
We were just saying that we'd be dividing the food up pretty quickly.
Besides, she really wasn't mentally prepared.
Yi Sheng was taken aback by her reaction, then couldn't help but laugh, "I mean, your room is still there."
Bai Yeke: "..."
Ms. Yi's chatting style is as infuriating as ever, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
"Oh," Bai Yeke continued casually, "The apartment I signed a six-month lease."
Yi Sheng almost blurted out, "Just leave it there."
She observed Bai Yeke's expression and decided to go along with Bai Yeke's wishes, so she simply said, "Well, that's fine, it's closer to your store."
Anyway, they're already together.
Anyway, we'll be living together sooner or later.
Yi Sheng has learned the importance of speed in business over the years, and he also knows that haste makes waste.
"Okay, sure." Bai Yeke smiled faintly.
Although she was indeed uneasy about moving to Yi Sheng's place immediately, Yi Sheng promised not to move, which left her feeling somewhat helpless and regretful.
She hesitated to say it, but actually, she would rather be closer to Yi Sheng than closer to the store.
"Okay." Yi Sheng nodded. "Then you can stay at my place occasionally."
Bai Yeke's smile deepened. "Okay, sure."
After the store closed and the morning meeting ended, everyone returned to their workstations in a scattered manner. Some people looked energized, while others looked listless.
Anyway, after each holiday, everyone goes back and forth between getting back on their feet and giving up, it's just that everyone's cycle is different.
On the first day of work, gossip is the perfect companion.
The "Dream Home" semi-finals have begun, and yesterday was the first day of voting. The new rankings have changed from the preliminary rounds.
Actually, this round of competition wasn't very competitive.
Because the participating designers are all from Santen Group, their basic approaches are quite similar. As many industry insiders know, the location of water and electricity still needs to be determined on-site by workers. Designers mainly reserve some space to meet the needs of clients. This has led to many designers in this competition trying to attract attention and taking unconventional approaches, specifically designing and reserving some seemingly high-end and innovative places.
One of them was the man with sword-like eyebrows. "My current ranking is too dangerous. I need to use a surprise attack to have a chance to break through!"
Previously, the man with sword-like eyebrows had pinned his hopes on getting involved with the minor celebrity. The minor celebrity was unmarried and the renovation was for her parents' home. He thought that would be enough to get the minor celebrity's fans to support her. However, the minor celebrity's team was in the middle of their promotional period, and the fans were focused on various voting and support activities. It was difficult for them to spare any effort for this so-called collaboration that had nothing to do with them. He could only try to struggle on his own for the time being.
Bai Yeke chose a steady and reliable approach, which was flawless.
"Wow, this post is interesting." Someone searched for "Mengjia" in the rematch on other platforms and saw a discussion post made by an ordinary person.
"This is obviously a home improvement blogger. What kind of analysis is this? They're just trying to grab attention and drive traffic to themselves."
"And there are homeowners who have been burned before. Tsk, the experience he described is just too unlucky."
"What what?"
"He originally hired a home renovation company, but that small company was unreliable. The project manager secretly contacted him and took over his business, saying he'd have a pre-arranged contractor. Then, he later discovered that the contract he signed was far less reliable than the one the original company had given him, and the contractor kept canceling. Then the manager said, 'Let's save you some money, you can negotiate the materials yourself,' and that vendor then ripped him off..."
Everyone was both amused and saddened by what they heard.
"Hey!" He Xin clapped her hands in front of Bai Yeke.
Bai Ye turned her head, still smiling, and asked, "What?"
Why do you seem to be having a different kind of fun than everyone else?
"What?" Bai Ye asked guiltily.
"Tsk, you're different today than before." He Xin said mysteriously, "It's hard to say, you have a kind of... festive air about you?"
Bai Ye was both embarrassed by what she said and pretended to be speechless, giving her a disapproving look.
"Look, look!" He Xin exclaimed as if she had caught them red-handed.
Bai Yeke's phone vibrated. She swiped to read the message and couldn't help but laugh. Yi Sheng had sent a picture of breakfast from the restaurant they had eaten at together before.
Coconut Cola: Miss Yi is in a good mood.
A life of simplicity: It would be better if Miss Bai were by my side.
Bai Ye put down her phone, trying her best to suppress her laughter while continuing to pretend to be speechless in front of He Xin. In the end, she couldn't keep up the act anymore and simply turned her head away.
"That smile is even more joyful than before!" He Xin said with certainty.
