Chapter 36 Reveals One's True Feelings
Chapter 36 Reveals One's True Feelings
Mu Yao had a dream in which she did not know where she was. All around her were the sounds of fighting. Disciples from both the righteous and demonic factions were desperately hacking at each other, fighting so fiercely that the sky seemed to be stained with blood.
Where is this? She doesn't seem to have been here before. What happened?
"Xiao Fan!!"
She heard a voice crying out in anguish, a voice that sounded very familiar.
She looked up at the sound and saw a woman who looked very similar to her flying over. The woman's figure swept past her eyes, activated the Heartbreak Flower, and protected Zhang Xiaofan.
Mu Yao found it strange that she would dream about Zhang Xiaofan.
And that girl, could she be Biyao?
At the same time, dark clouds suddenly filled the sky, and a person dressed in a blue Taoist robe stood in mid-air, surrounded by thousands of sword shadows that blotted out the sun and came on fiercely.
The giant sword that had been hanging in the air suddenly fell down, accompanied by howling winds. The sword light acted like ropes, trapping everyone in place, unable to move.
Between heaven and earth, only a green shadow leaped to the foot of the sword.
Mu Yao was shocked. Even though she was dreaming, she couldn't move for a moment. The shock in her heart was indescribable. She looked at the woman who had unhesitatingly used her body to block the giant sword!
"No..." she couldn't help but whisper. Even though the sword was aimed at someone else, she felt as if it had pierced her own body; her whole body ached, and her soul felt like it was being torn apart...
What happened? Why does she also feel such deep and real pain?
Her body suddenly felt light, as if it no longer belonged to her. She heard herself calling out uncontrollably, "Xiao Fan... Xiao Fan..."
What exactly happened? Before Mu Yao could even think, she felt herself fall into a deep sleep in her dream, unable to open her eyes again, and losing all sensation...
"Xiao Fan..."
Hearing the girl on the bed suddenly speak, Qin Wuyan quickly grasped her hand and softly called out, "Yao'er! Yao'er!"
"Xiao Fan..." Mu Yao was still unconscious, but she frowned and murmured Zhang Xiao Fan's name.
Upon hearing that name, Qin Wuyan felt a sudden surge of panic and heartache. Her heart pounded faster and faster. Could it be that she still couldn't forget Zhang Xiaofan?
Or perhaps... she remembered everything from before?
Thinking of this possibility, Qin Wuyan was in a state of turmoil, and his palms were covered in a layer of sweat as he held Mu Yao's hand.
Finally, after struggling for a while, the girl on the bed suddenly opened her eyes, which were filled with confusion.
“Master…” Mu Yao was puzzled when she saw Qin Wuyan looking at her with a nervous expression.
This call jolted Qin Wuyan awake. Almost instinctively, he bent down and hugged her tightly, as if she would disappear at any moment.
"Yao'er! Don't leave me!" He hugged her even tighter, unwilling to let go at all.
He couldn't imagine what it would be like if she really remembered everything, especially since she was still calling out Zhang Xiaofan's name, which terrified him. He could tolerate her hating him after remembering everything, but he couldn't accept her falling in love with Zhang Xiaofan again.
Mu Yao was completely bewildered by his actions. She had never seen him like this before. He held her tightly in his arms, and she felt like she was suffocating.
"Master... Master... cough cough..."
Mu Yao managed to utter two words with difficulty, barely managing to pry his arms apart with all her might, "I...I can't breathe."
Qin Wuyan then released his grip, trying his best to calm his panicked emotions, "Are you... are you alright?"
His cautious tone was completely different from his usual self. Mu Yao was even more puzzled. She shook her head: "I'm fine, but Master, what happened?"
She had just woken up when he pulled her into his arms. Because of a strange dream, she was still dizzy and couldn't remember why she had fainted.
Hearing her ask that, Qin Wuyan breathed a long sigh of relief, his expression returned to normal, and his mind raced to come up with the best explanation.
He looked at her and said gently, "You slept for three days and three nights to heal my wounds. I thought you wouldn't wake up."
So he was worried about her. Mu Yao felt a surge of joy and slowly remembered what had happened in Fenxiang Valley. Her smile was as bright as a flower as she nestled in his arms: "Master is so good, how could I bear to leave Master?"
The girl's fragrance filled his embrace. Qin Wuyan recalled his earlier worries and couldn't help but reach out and hug her, whispering, "You mustn't be so unrestrained in transferring spiritual energy to others anymore."
Mu Yao replied, "But you are my master, not someone else."
"Even if it's me, you can't do this. Your life is the most important thing."
Mu Yao smiled and said, "I'm fine, Master, don't worry."
Qin Wuyan sighed, "Do you know how much I suffered during the days you were unconscious? I was really scared..."
He didn't continue, because he had been watching over her every step of the way these past few days. He felt that her sleeping appearance was exactly the same as when she fell into a deep sleep after blocking the Zhuxian Sword. He didn't know how many times he had to check her pulse every day. If it weren't for the fact that her pulse showed that she was alive and well, he would have really thought that she would fall into a deep sleep forever.
Hearing his concern for her, Mu Yao felt even happier, and gradually recalled the events that had happened before, including the dream she had just had. She was never one to keep things bottled up, and finally couldn't help but ask him:
"Master, are you so worried about me because you like me?"
Qin Wuyan was slightly taken aback, but quickly replied, "You are my disciple, so of course I like you."
Mu Yao's gaze turned serious as she stared at him and said, "Besides the feelings a master has for his disciple, is there anything else you feel for me?"
Qin Wuyan was stumped by her question and didn't know how to answer her, so he changed the subject: "You've been sleeping for so long, you must be hungry. I'll go get you something to eat."
Having said that, he was about to loosen his grip on her, but Mu Yao refused to let go. She was determined to get to the bottom of this today, and with her arms still tightly around his waist, she said earnestly:
“Master, I like you. Not the kind of liking a disciple has for their master, it's more like…”
She was still a little embarrassed, her face flushing slightly, but her tone was extremely firm: "It's the kind of liking between a man and a woman."
Qin Wuyan's struggling body suddenly froze. He never expected that she would take the initiative to say such a thing to him.
Mu Yao's eyes shone brightly as she looked at him and continued, "I know this kind of thinking is quite unconventional. But you know me too; I'm someone who clearly distinguishes between love and hate, and I can't keep things to myself. I don't know when I started liking you; perhaps it was when I entered the Divine Sect, but I was too young then to understand these things. I've also thought that if I didn't say these things out loud, I would remain your master and disciple for life, following you wherever you go, and we could be together forever, just like those past six years. But..."
Tears welled up in her eyes, and her voice was filled with grievance and sadness: "But I only recently realized that there have always been other women who like you, and you may like other people too."
"Besides, you used to like that Biyao, and I look so much like her. These days I often think, could it be that you took me as your disciple, and all your kindness and concern for me was just because I look like Biyao? And have you always seen me as her substitute...?"
Tears silently streamed down her face. She couldn't continue. She felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave when she mentioned it, shivering with cold. Her fingers involuntarily clenched his clothes, and intense pain surged from her heart like a river bursting its banks.
"no!"
Qin Wuyan, who was about to let go, hugged her tightly again. He sighed deeply. Although he had expected her to think this way, he still couldn't help but feel anxious when he actually heard her say it.
He paused, trying his best to keep his tone calm: "Think about it, you were only six years old when I met you. You weren't even grown up yet. How could I have known that you would look exactly like Biyao when you grew up? I took you as my disciple because I felt guilty towards you back then. I'm good to you because you deserve my kindness. It has nothing to do with anyone else, so don't overthink it, okay?"
He was kind to her at first, and it was indeed because she was Biyao. From beginning to end, the only person he liked and cared about was Biyao, regardless of her name; it was simply because she was her.
But he couldn't tell her the truth, and he didn't want her, who was currently suffering from amnesia, to misunderstand.
Mu Yao's heart, which had cooled down, seemed to slowly warm up again with his words. Her eyes welled up with tears, and she stared at him blankly, wondering whether she should believe his sincere words.
But his words, "I'm good to you because you deserve it," gave her unprecedented confidence.
She asked again, "Master, do you like me?"
Afraid that he would beat around the bush again, Mu Yao added earnestly, "You understand, I'm not asking about the kind of affection a master has for his disciple."
She was met with a long silence.
Qin Wuyan held her tightly without looking at her; his gaze was unfocused, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
She stared at him intently, his handsome face displaying a complex expression she couldn't decipher. He frowned, as if an indescribable worry lingered around him, and her heart began to ache with unease.
Not hearing his reply for a long time, Mu Yao assumed he was using silence to politely refuse, so she lowered her head and sobbed softly, "I understand. Don't worry, I won't say those things again. I will be a good disciple and won't overthink things anymore."
She slowly loosened her arms around him; since he had already refused, such intimate gestures were no longer appropriate.
However, Qin Wuyan held her even tighter. He suddenly lowered his head and gently kissed her cheek. She heard him whisper in her ear in an extremely gentle and deep voice:
"Yao'er...I love you."
Mu Yao's eyes widened suddenly, but before she could react to his words, he kissed her lips. The kiss was initially as gentle as a butterfly, then it deepened little by little. His breath was so close to her face, enveloping her whole body.
Mu Yao felt that all the sensations she felt were unreal, like a dream, but her hands had involuntarily tightened around him, and she tilted her head back to respond to his kiss.
