Chapter 50 Birthday Forgetfulness
For the next month, Qin Wuyan left early and returned late every day, seemingly busy with nothing. The two, who used to be inseparable, barely saw each other a few times in that month. Even when they did meet, they acted like strangers. Even the stray dogs noticed their unusual behavior and asked Su Zhenzhen what had happened, but Su Zhenzhen just shook her head, saying she didn't know.
On the evening of the sixth day of the third lunar month, Mu Yao's eighteenth birthday, the Tianli Divine Sect was decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations, just like in previous years. The main hall was filled with tables of wine and all kinds of delicacies, and everyone in the sect was celebrating her eighteenth birthday.
At the banquet, Qin Wuyan remained silent, simply watching as she and a group of disciples from the sect drank and chatted merrily.
Mu Yao poured glass after glass, smiling broadly at Wild Dog, Tang Yuan, Su Zhenzhen, and the others, and said loudly, "Come on, everyone, let's have a drink to celebrate! Tomorrow I'm going to Xiaochi Town, which is a peaceful and serene place. Whoever can outdrink me, I'll take them with me!"
People gathered around her, raising their glasses and cheerfully toasting her.
Qin Wuyan sighed deeply, unable to bear watching any longer, and had no choice but to get up and leave the banquet early.
"Wu Yan also knew about Bi Yao several years ago and had been in love with her for a long time. He wanted to propose marriage to the Ghost King Sect. If the sect leader agrees, Wu Yan will take good care of Bi Yao and protect her for the rest of her life."
Qin Wuyan sat alone under the peach tree in the courtyard, recalling things that had happened many years ago!
He wasn't just saying he would protect her for life!
The peach blossoms fluttered down, and he looked melancholy as he wiped his eyes with a silk handkerchief, murmuring to himself, "Beauty is far away, longing is bitter. So many feelings, yet so hard to reciprocate. Ten years of love, a hundred years to cross; I cannot bear to look back without severing this longing."
He sighed softly and muttered to himself, "Why can't you understand? Whether it's Biyao or Muyao, the person I love in my heart has always been you..."
The sharp blade that severed longing gleamed under the bright moonlight, the moonlight, like water, spilled across the ground, desolate and lonely, utterly desolate.
"Vice Sect Master, be careful..." Wild Dog said anxiously, following behind Mu Yao, and went up to support half of her body.
"Oh dear... I'm not drunk... I can still drink..." Mu Yao swayed, her face already flushed red from drinking.
"Yao'er, be careful..." Tang Yuan also stepped forward and carefully supported her.
Wild Dog turned around and scolded the people following behind him: "It's all your fault! You knew that the Vice Sect Leader couldn't drink much before getting drunk, but you still kept letting her drink!"
"Wild dog, you...you're such a spoilsport, get off me..." Mu Yao shouted angrily, shaking off his hand.
The stray dog looked aggrieved and had no choice but to stop. It turned around and tried to leave, but accidentally bumped into the person behind it.
"Sect Master, please forgive me!" Wild Dog hurriedly knelt down and begged for mercy, fearing that Qin Wuyan would break his legs.
Qin Wuyan's face was ashen as he looked at Mu Yao, who was being helped into Peach Blossom Garden by Tang Yuan, and asked coldly, "How much did she drink?"
"Not much, not much, just two pots. I didn't dare let her drink any more, so I sent the deputy sect leader back," Wild Dog answered timidly.
Tang Yuan helped the drunken Mu Yao through the door. Qin Wuyan quickly followed and stood at the doorway. He saw her swaying and slumped against Tang Yuan's shoulder, muttering, "Don't go... stay with me..."
Tang Yuan tiptoed and helped Mu Yao straighten up: "Yao'er, you've had too much to drink..." Before he could finish speaking, Mu Yao suddenly hugged his waist, held him tightly, buried her head in his chest, shook her head, and sobbed softly:
"Actually, I wasn't drunk... I was just very sad. Today is my birthday, and I'm leaving tomorrow. But he wouldn't even say a word to me..."
Seeing how heartbroken she was, Tang Yuan hugged her tighter, gently patted her back, and softly comforted her, "It's alright...it's alright...I'm here for you, Yao'er. I'll always be with you..."
Seeing the two embracing, Qin Wuyan, who was standing at the door, was so angry that his veins bulged and his face turned ashen. He bit his lower lip, clenched his fists, stepped into the room, grabbed Mu Yao, and, suppressing his anger, said sternly to Tang Yuan, "She's drunk, and you're drunk too, aren't you?"
Tang Yuan was shocked, his eyes widened, and he opened his mouth as if to say something, but when he saw Qin Wuyan's eyes were bloodshot and burning with anger, he immediately swallowed his words and lowered his head, not daring to speak.
Qin Wuyan said coldly, "What? You really intend to stay here with her?"
Tang Yuan shook his head repeatedly and bowed his head, saying, "This subordinate takes his leave!" After saying that, he hurriedly left the room.
Seeing Tang Yuan leave, Qin Wuyan quickly walked over and closed the door. As soon as he turned around, Mu Yao pushed him towards the door, saying, "Get out of here, I don't need you to care if I drink myself to death..." As she spoke, she reached out to open the door.
Qin Wuyan grabbed her wrist and quickly turned around to firmly pin her to the door.
He lowered his head slightly, his nose touching her forehead, and smelled the strong smell of alcohol on her. A pang of heartache flashed in his eyes: "Why did you drink so much?"
"It's none of your business..." Mu Yao struggled fiercely to pull her hand away from his grasp, lowering her head deeply as she resisted.
Her forceful resistance reminded him of her earlier intimacy with Tang Yuan, instantly igniting his jealousy. He tightly pressed down on her struggling wrists, suddenly pulling her into his arms, one hand tightly wrapped around her waist, and abruptly lowered his head, his soft lips fiercely kissing hers.
This was the most intimate moment the two had shared since the Lantern Festival.
The moment their lips touched, Mu Yao's mind went blank. She tried to break free, but felt weak and powerless, collapsing into his arms. Qin Wuyan cruelly ravaged her lips, their lips pressing against each other, rubbing against each other little by little, as if trying to wear away all the tenderness and affection.
She still carried a faint, pleasant scent of alcohol, making one unable to resist becoming more and more intoxicated by the kiss, even trying to pry open her lips to go deeper.
Mu Yao gritted her teeth and resisted, but Qin Wuyan was not in a hurry. He kissed her leisurely, his tongue skillfully sweeping over her teeth and slowly and methodically licking her soft lips.
In the end, Mu Yao could not resist his gentle and lingering kisses and caresses. Gradually, she began to respond to him with her lips slightly parted, her hands slowly sliding down his back and weakly wrapping around his waist.
Seeing that she no longer resisted, Qin Wuyan hugged her tighter and deepened his kiss, frantically savoring the sweetness in her mouth, instinctively craving more.
When they were both panting and breathing heavily, as if they couldn't kiss anymore, Qin Wuyan finally released her slightly. Mu Yao leaned limply against the door, gasping for breath.
Qin Wuyan was panting, feeling completely exhausted. His face was burning hot; in fact, his entire body was burning. Even though she was the one who was drunk and out of it, at this moment, he felt like the one who was drunk and out of his mind.
The thought of her leaving tomorrow, and the thought of never seeing her again, overwhelmed him with an indescribable heartache and reluctance. He instantly lost his mind, scooped her up in his arms, and rushed to the bed.
Because Mu Yao had been drinking, her head was spinning and she hadn't even realized what was happening when he gently placed her on the bed. He looked at her slightly dazed and confused eyes, and then kissed her lips again, the warm and lingering breath spreading between them.
His kiss was passionate and deep, drawing her in completely. At that moment, she didn't want to think about anything that had happened before; she just wanted to be immersed in this kiss and never be apart from him for the rest of her life.
"Yao'er..."
After an unknown amount of time, Qin Wuyan finally pulled away from her lips and called out to her with a slightly breathless voice. The corners of his lips curved slightly, as if in a smile, but that smile also carried a trace of sorrow. He closed his eyes slightly, and a drop of warm liquid fell onto her face without warning.
Mu Yao was somewhat dazed, and reached out to touch his eyebrows and eyes: "Wu Yan...you...you cried?"
She touched her eyes, and after confirming that they weren't her own tears, she widened her eyes in disbelief. These... were his tears? How could he...?
"Yao'er!"
Qin Wuyan took her hand and gently kissed the back of it, then her forehead, moving to her ear. His warm breath enveloped her, and she heard him sigh softly, whispering in her ear, "Yao'er, forget me..."
Mu Yao suddenly snapped out of her daze and struggled to sit up: "You... what did you say?"
Before she could react further, a burning kiss landed on her lips again, and at the same time, something sweet and fragrant accompanied his lips and tongue into her mouth.
Before she could even register it, a dreamlike, light feeling spread from her head throughout her entire body. She felt as if she were lying on the softest cloud, and suddenly she remembered the source of this feeling… the Forget-Me-Not Gu!
This type of Gu is not an insect Gu, but a pill made from honey produced by the Gu bees after the pollen collected by the Five-Colored Swallowtail Butterfly from the Forget-Me-Not Grass was fed to them for the first time.
She had even learned the process of making this kind of forget-me-not from him, and she tried it herself at the time. She clearly remembers the feeling.
The Forget-Worry Gu, though named for its ability to make one forget worries, actually makes one forget emotions.
The effectiveness of this Gu poison is related to the spiritual energy infused into the Gu bees during its creation. The stronger the spiritual energy, the more and cleaner the forgotten memories become.
"Hmm..."
Mu Yao struggled desperately, wanting to ask him why he wanted her to forget him. But her lips were sealed by him, and she couldn't speak at all. Her limbs were also weak, and she couldn't resist him at all. She could only be forced to swallow one Forget-Me-Not Gu after another.
Large tears rolled down my cheeks. Why?
Why do this?
Why won't you even leave her your memories?
Mu Yao closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face, indistinguishable as to whether they were his or hers.
"Yao'er... Biyao..." Qin Wuyan pressed his forehead against hers, his eyes filled with an unspeakable pain.
"Whether you believe it or not, you really are Biyao. For your safety, for your future well-being, I have no choice but to do this. I said I would protect you for the rest of my life, and this time, I will not break my promise."
In her last remaining shred of consciousness, she felt him place a very gentle kiss on her lips one last time: "Biyao, I love you!"
Although she couldn't move her body, Mu Yao refused to give up. She used all her breath to gather the spiritual energy in her body in an attempt to stop the power of the Forget-Me-Not Gu from spreading through her body.
Two forces collided violently within her body, like a river bursting its banks or ocean waves surging. She desperately searched for something amidst the towering waves. Wave after wave rolled up, submerging some things and bringing forth new ones.
Then, her consciousness seemed to be drawn by a tremendous gravitational force, as if she were about to fall into an abyss. In the end, she was powerless to resist and could only let herself fall... fall...
She gradually lost all consciousness...
