Chapter 94: The Final Chapter (Part 1)
Half a year passed in the blink of an eye. Although the days of cultivation were much more boring, Biyao felt at peace. She felt as if she had returned to the years when she was a teenager and followed Qin Wuyan, when flowers bloomed and life was peaceful.
Although now, recalling that she called him "Master" for five or six years makes her feel extremely ashamed.
But I have to admit, those were truly warm and wonderful times...
Qin Wuyan is a person who, upon first meeting, seems to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, full of cunning and deceit, and is truly detestable.
But once you get to know him better, you'll find that he's a gentle and kind person at heart, a side that he often only shows to those he's close to.
Besides, he was so handsome, it's perfectly normal that she fell for him back then without even realizing it.
Occasionally, when Biyao gets tired of cultivating in Lingyan Pavilion, she will go out to wander around various parts of Fox Ridge Mountain. Especially to Qinglong's side, he is now the sect leader and lives in Luoxing Palace, but he has many things to do and doesn't come to Lingyan Pavilion often.
As Biyao approached the Falling Star Palace, she heard soft laughter coming from inside.
She was startled!
Could it be that Brother Qinglong has found a lover as well?
She couldn't resist sneaking closer to the window and peering intently into the hall.
The mandrill brazenly sat on Qinglong's desk, leisurely swinging its legs, holding a bunch of grapes in its hand. As it ate, it smiled at Qinglong and said, "These grapes, perhaps you specially saved them for me?"
Azure Dragon said, "Is that right?"
The mandrill blinked. "I guessed..." She leaped forward and pounced into the Azure Dragon's arms, grinning. "Of course it is! Even if it isn't, if I say it is, it has to be!"
Qinglong couldn't help but laugh: "As expected of the Mountain God, his skin is truly thick!"
The mandrill punched him angrily: "You dare say that again?!"
"The Mountain God has the thickest skin in the world!" Qinglong repeated with a laugh.
"Are you asking for a beating?!" the mandrill yelled angrily.
Qinglong grabbed her hand, gave her a light kiss on the lips, and laughed, "You're not asking for a beating, but you're definitely asking for a kiss!"
"..."
Biyao covered her face, too ashamed to look! Good heavens!! Brother Qinglong was actually with Sister Mountain Demon…
Um... how do I describe this? Have they hooked up?
Pshaw! They're clearly in love!
The secret she stumbled upon was so shocking that she didn't know how to describe it.
Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard the mandrill in the room shout angrily, "Who?! Who's outside?"
Biyao was so frightened that she hurriedly ran away.
The mandrill ran out the door, only to find no one in sight.
Qinglong chased after him, puzzled, and asked, "Why didn't I hear anything?"
The mandrill said, "No, I just sensed a strange aura outside the door. It doesn't seem like a mortal, nor a demon... it's more like..."
She frowned and pondered for a moment, then said, "It's very similar to mine, but not exactly the same. It's a pity that the aura was a bit weak and disappeared too quickly, so I couldn't tell the difference."
Azure Dragon pondered for a moment and said, "Neither mortal nor demon? Could it be that the dragons of the celestial realm have returned?"
"Impossible! The aura of the dragon is the most unique; I can tell just by smelling it. If it's not a dragon, then forget it! As long as it's not a demon, that's fine."
The two returned to the hall.
Biyao ran frantically, and after a long while, she suddenly realized, why was she acting so sneakily like a thief? Anyway, they couldn't see her!
She turned to return to Lingyan Pavilion, only to suddenly realize that she hadn't been running on two legs at all; she had unintentionally turned into a gust of wind and moved away.
What?! What's going on?!
No wonder she felt like she hadn't run very far, yet she had somehow reached the foot of Fox Ridge Mountain.
But when did she cultivate such profound magic?
Unable to figure it out for the moment, she had no choice but to return to Lingyan Pavilion. Having fled too quickly, she was no longer strong enough, so this time she chose to walk back slowly on foot.
Just as they reached the entrance of Fox Ridge Mountain, several disciples guarding the mountain blocked their way, shouting, "Who are you? How dare you trespass on Fox Ridge Mountain?"
? ? ?
Biyao was stunned, and it took her a long time to react: "You...you can see me?"
The disciple guarding the mountain gate glared at her: "We're not blind, of course we can see you!! Girl, Fox Ridge Mountain isn't a place you can just walk into, please turn back!"
Biyao was overjoyed; she had finally cultivated herself into a human form!
There was no need to care about these disciples guarding the mountain. With a thought, she transformed into the wind and disappeared once more.
The four or five people guarding the mountain gate felt a sudden gust of wind sweep by, sending sand and stones flying. Then the people from before had vanished without a trace. Terrified, they cried out, "Quickly, report to the sect leader! A monster has invaded Fox Ridge Mountain!!!"
Biyao flew all the way back to Lingyan Pavilion, but when she arrived at Qin Wuyan's room, she was somewhat hesitant to see him.
Is the human form she created still the same as her original self?
Is she still very young? Or is she quite old?
Thinking of this, she immediately turned around and went to the hot spring pool in the backyard.
The spring water in the pool was crystal clear, reflecting a clear human figure.
Her long, jet-black hair cascaded down her sides, and her fair and clear face was adorned with thick eyebrows, large eyes, red lips, and white teeth.
She looks the same as before, even more beautiful and refined, but...
Why does that disheveled look make her look so much like a female ghost?
She looked down and noticed that she was dressed in bright red, as vibrant as fire, exactly the same color as the blooming redwood flowers. It looked quite beautiful, but…
She looks more like a female ghost...
It seems the disciples guarding the mountain gate only regarded her as a monster and didn't call her a female ghost, which was already very polite.
Biyao sat by the pool, gazing at her reflection, carefully tying her hair into a bun. She was only halfway through when she suddenly heard an angry shout behind her:
"Who? Who's there?!"
She turned her head and saw Qin Wuyan walking towards her with a cold expression. She was immediately unsure whether to be frightened or delighted. She instinctively tried to stand up, but before she knew it, she fell into the water.
Fortunately, the water wasn't very deep, only submerging half of her body. She was soaked to the bone, and just as she shakily stood up in the water, there was a splash in the pool.
Qin Wuyan leaped into the water, grabbed her by the neck, and said viciously, "Who are you? Sneaking into my study is one thing, but daring to cause trouble here!!!"
Biyao frantically tried to break free from his grasp, but he only tightened his grip. She was soaking wet and her hair was disheveled; no one would guess she had returned. After struggling for a while without success, she decided to act. Her body transformed into a gust of wind, circled behind him, and then reverted to human form, shouting urgently:
"Qin Wuyan!! It's me!"
Qin Wuyan was stunned. That voice...
He slowly turned around and saw a woman dressed in red, with skin as white as snow. She brushed aside the messy, wet hair that was covering her face and exclaimed loudly, "I am Biyao! I'm back!"
Qin Wuyan's body stiffened, only two words remaining in his mind...
Biyao? Biyao!!!
He stared intently, looking at her in disbelief for a long time, then stepped forward and cupped her face in his hands: "Biyao? Is it really you!?"
Biyao nodded, her eyes shining: "It's me! It's me! Wuyan, I'm back!"
However, he looked up at the sky and muttered to himself, "It's not dark yet. Am I daydreaming?"
"..."
Biyao was both amused and exasperated, wondering how to tell him, when suddenly, Qin Wuyan pulled her into a tight embrace and leaned down to kiss her.
His kiss was lingering yet forceful, leaving her completely weak from the start. Biyao was somewhat bewildered. She had imagined that when he saw her again, he would be overjoyed, holding her and weeping, repeatedly saying, "You're finally back!" before anything more intimate would follow.
But...why didn't he say more than a few words before jumping straight to the point?!
Biyao was overwhelmed by the kisses and tried to back away, but he wouldn't let go. He held her waist and, with each step she took backward, pinned her against the rock wall of the hot spring pool.
The closer the hot spring is to the rock face, the hotter the water becomes, even producing wisps of white steam. The rising steam makes the faces of those in front of them appear even more hazy and indistinct.
Qin Wuyan gently stroked her eyebrows and eyes, his gaze overflowing with tenderness. He gave a bitter laugh and said self-deprecatingly, "I must have forgotten to take my medicine and was dreaming again. But, Biyao... I miss you so much. I haven't dreamed of you for so many years. I hope this dream won't be so cruel to me again..."
His voice faded, and he leaned down again to kiss her lips.
From the day he returned to Fox Ridge Mountain and planted the Ruomu Divine Tree, he often dreamed of her.
The longest and most vivid dream he had was when he returned to the year he proposed to the Ghost King, and to his surprise, Biyao said she was willing to marry him. Afterwards, he successfully obtained the antidote from the Poison God, and the Ghost King held a grand wedding for him and Biyao on Fox Ridge Mountain.
On their wedding night, the moment he lifted her veil, she was dressed in fiery red, stunningly beautiful, and utterly captivating.
But a few days later, he learned from her that it was all just a beautiful but illusory dream. If the dream didn't end, her soul would be devoured by it and vanish into nothingness.
The only way to shatter his dream is for her to kill him.
He handed her the sword, prepared to face death, but watched helplessly as she took the sword and committed suicide in front of him.
He was in excruciating pain and woke up in a cold sweat.
Later, he would repeatedly see her in his dreams. In each dream, no matter how beautiful, she would always die in front of him. Sometimes she would commit suicide in front of him, sometimes she would die under the Zhuxian Sword, sometimes she would leave him at the gates of the underworld, and sometimes she would be disemboweled and have her heart ripped out by the Nine Netherworld Emperor, falling down covered in blood.
A beautiful dream turned into a nightmare, and every night was filled with terror!
He couldn't take it anymore, so he made himself a lot of Dream-Dispelling Pills and took them every day. From then on, he finally stopped dreaming, but he could no longer see her.
For ten whole years, he longed for her day and night, spending almost every day by the Ruomu Divine Tree. But even though the tree had blossomed, there was no sign of her return.
The hot spring was filled with steam, and her bright red dress was eye-catching. She used to only wear light green dresses. Only when he married her in his dream did he see her radiant beauty in a red wedding dress. In his daze, Qin Wuyan felt that this was just another dream.
"Biyao..." he called out affectionately. Night had fallen, a crescent moon hung high overhead, and in the hazy moonlight, he inexplicably recalled what the mountain spirit had told him: Biyao had encountered Zhang Xiaofan in the illusion of the Six-Star Reincarnation Disc. His mind went blank for a moment, then he remembered what she had said to him after he returned to the past in the illusion: "Qin Wuyan, do you think I'll like you just because Zhang Xiaofan is dead? You're dreaming!!!"
He was heartbroken. In order to stop her from going to Qingyun Sect, he knocked her unconscious and locked her in a small house in Poisonous Snake Valley. She cursed him every day, wishing he would die immediately.
Even though he knew that the woman in the illusion didn't love him because she had no memories of reality, every word she said still felt like a sharp knife stabbing into his heart, causing him excruciating pain.
Years of suppressed emotions were about to erupt, making him increasingly disoriented about his time and place. His eyes gradually became bloodshot, and his dark pupils churned with obsession.
"Biyao, do you love me?" he murmured softly, his voice filled with sorrow.
"I love... Waaah... Wu Yan, please let me go..."
"Liar!!"
Qin Wuyan lowered his head and kissed her deeply again, tasting the tears rolling down her cheeks. A bitter feeling spread through him, as if flowing from his mouth to the depths of his heart.
She doesn't love him at all. If she really loved him, why hasn't she come back? Why?!
Biyao tilted her head slightly, but he forcefully grabbed her chin and turned her back. In the moonlight, her eyes were red and swollen from crying, just like the eyes she had once cried when Zhang Xiaofan died.
A surge of anger welled up within him, and tears inexplicably welled in his eyes. He lowered his head and kissed her lips fiercely: "You don't love me, you don't love me at all, you only love Zhang Xiaofan!!"
Biyao thought he was completely insane! Zhang Xiaofan has been dead for so many years, why is he still mentioning Zhang Xiaofan???
Darkness suddenly descended; it turned out that he had lowered himself again, blocking the moonlight.
He didn't know if it was because he had been too celibate and ascetic over the years that his long-suppressed longing and love had turned into a crazy desire, making him dream of her appearing in such a confusing and intoxicating place.
Beautiful yet absurd!
Even if it was just a ridiculous nightmare, he accepted it!
Biyao had never seen Qin Wuyan like this before. At least… he had always been gentle and tender, never so forceful towards her. Finally, she couldn't hold back her tears and burst into sobs, but he remained unmoved. She didn't know how long she cried before he finally stopped, kissing her cheek, still whispering repeatedly, “Biyao, I love you, I love you! Don't leave me! You mustn't leave me…”
She couldn't respond at all and fell asleep in his arms.
The next morning, Qin Wuyan was awakened by the chirping of birds in the courtyard.
He found it very strange; the incessant chattering seemed to be right next to him, even though he clearly remembered that his room was fairly soundproof.
Opening his sleepy eyes, he was surprised to find that he had slept in the hot spring pool all night.
What shocked him even more was that he was holding a woman in his arms, and both of them were completely naked...
The Poison Prince, who had always been proud, calm, and composed, had never been so flustered and embarrassed.
What happened? He didn't drink last night, and he certainly didn't...
No… Qin Wuyan suppressed his panic and bent down to see who the woman in his arms was.
He should have looked away, because what he saw almost scared him to death... This girl looked exactly like Biyao?
Is someone impersonating him? Or is he still dreaming?
He simply pinched his arm hard, and couldn't help but groan in pain.
Isn't it a dream?
Was it not a dream? Was someone impersonating Biyao to seduce him? Or perhaps...
Biyao is back?
But if she came back, how could the two of them end up in the hot spring pool...?
Qin Wuyan was completely baffled and grew increasingly uneasy. After thinking for a long time, he finally realized that the two of them were still outside and that the most urgent thing was to get back to their room.
He barely managed to wrap himself in his clothes, which had been soaking in the water all night, and hurriedly carried the woman back to the room. She seemed to be sleeping soundly and showed no signs of waking up. The thought that this person might be Biyao, even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance, made him dare not be negligent.
But... when he personally dried her off the remaining hot spring water and prepared to change her clothes, he realized what an outrageous and absurd thing he had done...
Her fair skin was covered with purplish-red marks, and there were even a few bluish-purple finger marks on her waist, as well as many bloody scratches from being scraped by the rock wall...
He...he...he...he...he...he...
He was increasingly at a loss. If this woman was Biyao, how could he have been so rude to her? How would he explain himself after she woke up? If this person wasn't Biyao, wouldn't he be even more...
Qin Wuyan truly wished he could draw his sword and commit suicide!
Biyao slept for almost the entire day. When she opened her drowsy eyes, she found herself lying on the couch, her white undergarment clean and tidy, clearly having been changed. She tried to get up, but felt aches all over her body, as if her bones were about to fall apart.
Yesterday's events gradually resurfaced in her mind, and Biyao suddenly flew into a rage, roaring, "Qin Wuyan!! You get out here right now!!"
Qin Wuyan, who had been silently waiting outside the door for a long time, pushed it open and entered. This angry shout made him feel that the possibility of the person in front of him being Biyao had increased even more.
He hung his head, not daring to look at her.
Biyao was even angrier. What was with his pitiful look? She was the one who was being bullied, yet he was acting like he was the victim.
She gritted her teeth, so angry that she threw a pillow at him, saying resentfully, "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Qin Wuyan then looked up at her, still feeling extremely guilty: "I...I..."
He stammered for a long time, unsure of what to say. After thinking for a moment, he cautiously asked, "Biyao, is it really you? You're really back? Am I dreaming?"
Biyao finally understood why he dared to treat her that way yesterday; he thought she was dreaming. Enraged, she laughed coldly, "Dreaming? Ha! Qin Wuyan, aren't you dreaming? Keep dreaming!! I wish I had never come back!!"
She got up to leave, but Qin Wuyan quickly hugged her, both overjoyed and excited: "Biyao, don't go!!"
Biyao struggled fiercely, but still couldn't break free. She turned around and simply raised her hand to give him a light slap.
Qin Wuyan was hit, but it didn't hurt much; instead, he laughed.
"What are you laughing at? How dare you laugh?!" Biyao was furious and gave him another hard elbow.
Qin Wuyan wasn't annoyed. Only now did he truly realize that this might not really be a dream...
He hugged her tighter, resting his chin on her forehead, almost crying with joy: "Biyao, it's you, it really is you! Ten years, you've finally come back..."
He waited so long that he thought she no longer loved him, and that she might never come back.
He thought yesterday was just a beautiful and glamorous dream, and waking up would only make him more desperate.
But now, she was right in front of him, beating and scolding him just like before. At this moment, even if she verbally abused him mercilessly and beat him until his bones were broken, he would gladly endure it.
Hearing his words, Biyao knew he had indeed waited hard all these years, and her heart softened. She reached out and hugged him back, and after a long while, she cried out in a wronged tone, "What was wrong with you yesterday? I finally managed to cultivate into human form to see you, but you wouldn't listen to me properly, and... and you treated me like that! You... you're such a jerk!!"
Knowing he was in the wrong, Qin Wuyan carried her back to the couch and sat her down, smiling apologetically, "It's my fault! It's all my fault! The hot spring was steaming at that time, and when I suddenly saw you, you were wearing a red dress, and I thought I was dreaming again."
Biyao punched him lightly with her fist: "You can treat me like that even in a dream? Qin Wuyan, you actually harbored such thoughts!!"
Sigh! Qin Wuyan sighed inwardly. He had witnessed firsthand how he had tormented her, and he was at a loss for words to explain.
After all, even he himself didn't expect that this was something he could actually do...
After a long pause, he could only lower his head again and admit his mistake: "Biyao, I was wrong, really wrong! I will never do that again... If you are still angry, then hit me! Even if you beat me to death, I will not fight back!"
"Hmph!" Biyao calmed down slightly, leaned against him, and said sullenly, "Wuyan, actually... actually I came back a long time ago. It's just that at first I only had a soul, so you couldn't see or touch me. I cultivated by your side for more than half a year, and only yesterday did I realize that I had a real body."
Qin Wuyan was stunned: "You...you came back a long time ago? And stayed by my side for half a year? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why..."
Why was she still at the hot spring pool? And she was wearing a red dress, which made him lose his mind and do many absurd things to her.
But he really didn't dare to say the second half of that sentence.
Biyao saw through his thoughts and rolled her eyes: "I went to the hot spring to freshen up before seeing you, who would have thought you would..."
Thinking of everything that happened yesterday, she raised her hand to hit him again, but instead of hurting him, she felt even more pain. She couldn't help but burst into tears, sobbing in his arms, "You went too far!!!"
"Yes, yes, yes! It's all my fault, all my fault!" Qin Wuyan hugged her, feeling deeply remorseful for his unrestrained behavior. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, "Does it still hurt?"
Biyao glared at him fiercely: "You dare to ask?!"
"Sigh!" he sighed deeply. "I'm really worried about hurting you."
She blushed instantly, pouted, gave a soft huff, and said reproachfully, "Stop it!! I begged you so many times yesterday, and you didn't even show me a shred of sympathy!"
"..."
Qin Wuyan dared not speak again.
