Chapter 24 The Art of Eating Souls

Chapter 24 The Art of Eating Souls

When Qin Wuyan brought Mu Yao back to the room, there was a hint of anger in his eyes.

"Didn't I tell you? You haven't learned to conceal your aura yet, and you shouldn't use your spiritual power casually outside."

The thought that Lin Jingyu had also noticed that her spiritual power was different from that of ordinary people, and even wanted to take her to Qingyun Sect to cultivate, made Qin Wuyan inexplicably angry. She regretted that she hadn't beaten him up earlier because of her pride.

Mu Yao felt that his anger was inexplicable, and immediately said unhappily, "I didn't mean to. How was I supposed to know that using just a little bit would be noticed?"

The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. She turned and walked towards the door, but Qin Wuyan quickly grabbed her and apologized, "Okay, okay, it was my fault. I shouldn't have talked to you like that."

Hearing his words, Mu Yao calmed down, but still said with a stern face, "Master, next time, you must not scold me so casually."

During the past few months at Fox Hill, Mu Yao had basically figured out Qin Wuyan's personality. He was almost always willing to grant her requests, and whenever he saw that she was unhappy, he would try different ways to coax her. As a result, she became more and more willful and would occasionally dare to talk back to him.

Qin Wuyan did indeed indulge her in every little thing, so when Mu Yao spoke to him in this tone at such a young age, he was not angry. He simply said softly, "I will pay attention next time, but I was just worried about you."

Upon hearing this, Mu Yao was overjoyed. She threw herself into Qin Wuyan's arms, hugging him tightly, feeling incredibly warm and happy in his embrace: "I know. Master is the best to me."

Qin Wuyan sighed softly and reached out to embrace her. He truly had no way to handle her; if he was too strict, he feared she would cry, and if he was too indulgent, he feared she would lack the ability to protect herself in the future. Having lived for over thirty years, he finally understood what people meant by the saying, "To hold her in one's hands for fear she will fly away, to keep her in one's mouth for fear she will melt."

"By the way, Master," Mu Yao looked up, wanting to tell him about the other shore flower, but suddenly heard a knock on the door.

"who?"

Qin Wuyan, assuming she was a disciple, released Mu Yao and went to open the door. However, as soon as the door opened, a cloud of black smoke rushed in. He instinctively covered his face with his sleeve, but quickly realized something was wrong and turned to grab Mu Yao, but it was too late. All he could hear was Mu Yao's screams.

"Ah! Master, save me!!"

Qin Wuyan was shocked and rushed out the door. The wisp of black smoke was engulfing Mu Yao and flying towards the other side of the corridor. He immediately made a hand seal and chased after it, but when he reached a corner, the black smoke disappeared along with Mu Yao.

Black smoke?

Soul-eating technique?!

Qin Wuyan recalled Yunniang's description and was instantly terrified, breaking out in a cold sweat. What should he do? What should he do? Who was this person? Why did they target Mu Yao?

His mind raced, forcing himself to calm down. First, he summoned Tang Yuan and the others, ordering them to search for the person throughout the entire Shanhai Garden. Then, he went straight to the small pavilion where he had previously met Jin Ping'er. He didn't even bother to knock on the door and simply pushed it open.

To everyone's surprise, a man and a woman were standing in the room, embracing and kissing passionately.

The three of them seemed to freeze, dumbfounded, and every inch of the room seemed to exude the word "awkwardness".

After a while, the three of them reacted one after another. Qin Wuyan turned around, while Jin Ping'er and Lin Jingyu had already quickly separated and returned to their respective tables.

But Qin Wuyan didn't care about the two of them at all. He said directly, "The person who can absorb souls has appeared. He has kidnapped Mu Yao. Lin Jingyu, have you brought people? Can you help me find Mu Yao?"

Lin Jingyu suppressed his panic and replied, "I...I didn't bring anyone with me, but I'm familiar with that girl's aura. I should be able to use the Searching Technique to help you find her."

Jin Ping'er also feigned composure and said, "Xiao Huan is also in Heyang, I..."

Qin Wuyan was usually extremely calm, but the current situation involved Mu Yao, and his concern clouded his judgment. He completely forgot that he had cast a tracking spell on Mu Yao when he left home, worried that she might get lost. He only remembered this when he heard Lin Jingyu mention the search spell. So, without even listening to Jin Ping'er finish speaking, he recited the spell and rushed out the door.

Jin Ping'er watched Qin Wuyan come and go in an instant, her mind still reeling, and the words she hadn't finished saying continued: "I'll go find her in a bit, and I should be able to... be of help."

As soon as she finished speaking, the room fell silent again.

Thinking about what the two of them had just done, Lin Jingyu's ears turned even redder. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, he simply stood up and said, "I'll go and look for him."

"Wait a moment," Jin Ping'er called out to him, gazing at his retreating figure—the figure she had followed for so many years—and slowly said:

"I will pretend that nothing happened today. From now on, you will remain the head of the Qingyun Sect, and I will remain the head of the Hehuan Sect. As for the matter of the soul loss syndrome in Yudu, I will have Xiaohuan help you find out."

Lin Jingyu's breathing was still erratic, and his heart was pounding. He didn't dare to turn around and look at her. After a moment, he could only leave behind two words: "Thank you!"

Then, his figure moved like the wind, and he quickly disappeared.

...

“Biyao…Biyao…”

Mu Yao felt dizzy and disoriented, as if someone was calling her, but she clearly remembered that her name was not Bi Yao.

Did she mishear?

She forced her eyes open, and a dark figure was suddenly reflected in her eyelids. The person was dressed in a black robe, and a wide black cloak covered his face. In the bright moonlight, only his eyes could be vaguely seen.

It was blood red!

Mu Yao woke up with a start, only to find herself captured and placed in a forest, sitting on the ground with her back against a tree. She had never experienced anything like this before; those blood-red eyes were staring intently at her, as if they wanted to devour her. The fear in her heart amplified infinitely, and she stammered, "You...who are you? What do you want?"

The man didn't speak, but stretched out one hand. The hand was withered and thin, with long, thin nails like blades, and his wrist was covered with hideous red snake patterns.

"Ah!!!" Mu Yao screamed in terror, thinking the man was going to kill her. She frantically cried out, "Master, save me! Save me!!!"

She screamed for a while, but when she realized that the person had just stretched out his hand and froze in mid-air without making any further moves, she slowly calmed down.

"She is still young and weak. It is not the right time to take action."

Hearing someone speak, Mu Yao realized that there was another person standing behind the man in black, also dressed in black and wearing a black cloak. This man in black didn't have blood-red eyes; they looked like ordinary people. Therefore, he didn't seem so frightening. His eyes, reflecting the moonlight overhead, were bright and clear, like jade. When he looked at Mu Yao, he even winked at her.

She then realized that the red-eyed man in black hadn't attacked her because he was stopped by the people behind him.

Red-eyed, unable to move, stood stiffly, and said resentfully, "Am I supposed to wait for her to grow up? How old will she have to be?"

“I don’t know how old she is. It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to cultivate a person. Maybe she’s ten, maybe she’s a hundred? I don’t know much about the Divine Tree Body, but the Wood Element Divine Power has already appeared on her. I think it won’t be long. Be patient.”

"Patience? That's all you can say!!" the red-eyed man roared in fury.

"Then what else do you want me to say? Endure it? Ha!" He sneered and continued, "If you don't have the patience, you can take action, but don't blame me for not warning you, if you take action against her now, you will only get nothing."

"You..." The red-eyed man gritted his teeth in anger, but it took him a long time to calm down before he said, "Fine, then I won't touch her. What do we do now? Let her go?"

"right."

"No way! I went through so much trouble to catch it."

"Then what do you want?"

"Let me go, let me try a little bit, just a little bit, I want to see if it really works for me."

"Okay, you can only try a tiny bit, remember, only a tiny bit. Because if you kill her, you'll just have to wait to die too."

They used the word "taste," which made Mu Yao feel as if they were going to drink her blood and eat her flesh. Her eyes widened suddenly, and she trembled with fear.

Master, Master, she was utterly helpless and could only silently call out Qin Wuyan in her heart, hoping that he would come to save her soon.

The spell binding the red-eyed man in black had been released by the person behind him, and his hand immediately fell down like an eagle's claw.

"Aaaaaaah!!"

Mu Yao covered her head and screamed, instinctively shrinking her body and rolling to the side, only to bump into a warm embrace. The person suddenly wrapped their arm around her, and she mistakenly thought that she had been grabbed by another person, so she screamed and tried to break free.

"Yao'er, don't be afraid! Hiss..."

Qin Wuyan tried to comfort her, but it was too late. In her panic, Mu Yao bit him hard.

Behind him, the red-eyed man in black reached out to Mu Yao, but Qin Wuyan blocked him. The man's claws were as sharp as swords, and in an instant, they tore five bloody claw marks on his back.

Red Eyes, enraged by his failed attempt, was about to strike again when someone grabbed his cloak from behind and forced him to flee in panic.

Seeing that the two people had left, Qin Wuyan breathed a sigh of relief and loosened his grip on Mu Yao's arm. However, Mu Yao was still biting his arm tightly. At this moment, driven by her survival instinct, she had no rationality and only hoped that biting him would hurt him so that he would let go of her. Therefore, she used great force and almost bit off a piece of flesh.

Sure enough, the arm slowly loosened its grip. She didn't have time to see who the person was; she just tried to escape in a panic, but the arm was grabbed again, and she was forced to turn around.

"No!! No!!" she screamed in terror. Qin Wuyan quickly said, "Yao'er, it's me, it's Master!"

"Master!?" Mu Yao looked up, but could no longer see any terrifying red eyes. She only saw Qin Wuyan's extremely worried eyes, looking at her with heartache.

"Master..." As soon as Mu Yao saw him, she threw herself into his arms and burst into tears, "It was so scary, Master... Waaaaah... They wanted to eat me, wanted to eat me... Waaaaah!"

Qin Wuyan was extremely distressed and hurriedly asked her, "Are you hurt anywhere?"

Mu Yao looked up at him through her tears and shook her head. But she was still terrified and kept crying while hugging him.

Qin Wuyan finally breathed a sigh of relief. His right hand was bleeding profusely from where she had bitten him. Afraid that she would be even more frightened if she saw it, he turned his hand behind his back and held her with only his left hand, gently patting her back to comfort her, saying, "It's okay, it's okay, I'm here, I will protect you."
