36 I am your mother's good friend
Jin Lang approached, leaned against the kitchen door, and silently looked at her back without saying a word. He actually wanted to walk over and put his arms around her waist from behind, and then leave a kiss on the side of her face. He sighed silently in his heart, but unfortunately, he couldn't. "Beep, beep," the microwave prompt sounded, and Liu Yuwei opened the door and took out a plate of stir-fried loofah and clams. She took a step and turned around, and because she was too focused, she almost bumped into Jin Lang who was coming forward. She screamed and her body instinctively stepped back. In the end, she stabilized herself, but the soup still splashed on his clothes. "I'm sorry, I didn't notice you were here." Liu Yuwei quickly took two pieces of kitchen paper and frantically wiped back and forth on his light brown sweatshirt. Her fingers pressed hard, trying to absorb the soup between the fibers of the clothes, but inadvertently touched the tight muscles under the fabric... Her movements froze instantly, and her cheeks quickly became hot. Jin Lang noticed her abnormality and a faint smile unconsciously curled up at the corners of his lips. He then pulled out the spiral-patterned tissue from her still hand, and his fingertips inevitably rubbed against the white and smooth back of her hand. Liu Yuwei felt as if she had been burned by something. There had been more intimate actions in the past few days, but none of them could be as exciting as this subtle touch. She hurriedly picked up the plate again and hurried away from him. Jin Lang rubbed it with the paper twice and followed her back to the dining table. Seeing that Liu Yuwei was already sitting next to Li Xin, he could only pull out the chair opposite. He picked up the chicken wing wood chopsticks on the table and raised his wrist but did not pick up any food. "Mom, how are you feeling? I'll take you for a comprehensive physical examination in a few days!" "It's just low blood sugar, nothing serious." Li Xin said casually. Before Jin Lang could speak again to persuade her, Liu Yuwei took the lead. "Auntie, it's better to check!" She blinked, as if in secret. "Taking care of yourself is most important!" Li Xin understood, grasping Liu Yuwei's hand and clasping it gently in his palm, muttering, "Yes, taking care of yourself is most important!" Jin Lang saw that the two seemed to be playing a game of charades, but then he heard his mother say, "Okay, then I'll do as you say. Check it thoroughly from beginning to end." He nodded with satisfaction, picked up a plump clam from the plate, and slowly chewed it. A faint ringing sound came from the pocket of his coat in the entrance hall. "I'm going to answer it." With that, Liu Yuwei stood up and walked towards the source of the sound. Li Xin was about to ask Jin Lang if returning early affected his work, but he saw him lowering his head and fiddling with the rice in his bowl with the tip of his chopsticks...
Jin Lang approached, leaned against the kitchen door, and silently looked at her back without saying a word. He actually wanted to walk over and put his arms around her waist from behind, and then leave a kiss on her cheek.
I sighed silently in my heart, unfortunately, I can’t.
"Beep beep", the microwave oven beeped, Liu Yuwei opened the door and took out a plate of stir-fried loofah and clams.

"I'm sorry, I didn't notice you were here."
Liu Yuwei quickly pulled out two sheets of kitchen paper and frantically wiped his light brown sweatshirt back and forth. Her fingers pressed hard, trying to absorb the soup from the fibers of the clothing, but she accidentally touched the firm muscles beneath the fabric...
Her movements froze instantly, and her cheeks quickly heated up.
Jin Lang noticed her abnormality and a faint smile appeared on the corner of his lips unconsciously. Then he pulled out the spiral-patterned tissue from her still hand, and his fingertips inevitably rubbed across the white and smooth back of her hand.
Liu Yuwei felt like he was burned by something. There had been more intimate actions in the past few days, but none of them could be as arousing as this subtle touch.
She hurriedly picked up the plate again and quickly ran away from him.

He picked up the chicken wing wood chopsticks on the table and raised his wrist but did not pick up any food.
"Mom, how are you feeling? I'll take you for a comprehensive physical examination in a couple of days!"
"It's just hypoglycemia, nothing serious." Li Xin said casually.
Before Jin Lang could speak again to persuade him, Liu Yuwei took the lead in speaking.
"Auntie, it's better to check!" She blinked, as if to signal, "Taking care of yourself is the most important thing!"
After hearing this, Li Xin understood and took Liu Yuwei's hand, clasped it in his palm and patted it gently, muttering, "Yes, taking care of yourself is the most important thing!"
Jin Lang saw that the two seemed to be playing charades, but then he heard his mother say, "Okay, then I'll listen to you and check it carefully from beginning to end."
He nodded with satisfaction, picked up a fat clam from the plate, put it in his mouth and chewed it slowly.
A faint ringing sound of a cell phone came from the pocket of his coat at the entrance.
"I'm going to answer a phone call."
After saying that, Liu Yuwei stood up and walked towards the source of the sound.
Li Xin wanted to ask Jin Lang if coming back early affected his work, but he saw him lowering his head and fiddling with the rice grains in the bowl with the tip of his chopsticks, his eyes wandering, obviously his attention had already flown elsewhere.
So, the two people at the table unconsciously listened to the noise coming from the other side of the living room.
"What's wrong with the deer? Don't be anxious, tell me slowly."
There was a hint of anxiety in the woman's voice.
"Are you going to the Children's Hospital or the Children's Research Institute?"
"Okay, I'll call you when I get to the hospital."
Liu Yuwei returned to the restaurant clutching her phone, her face full of worry.
"Auntie, I have something urgent to do here. Jin Lang is back, so I'll say goodbye first." She spoke quickly.
Li Xin vaguely heard the words "Children's Hospital", and his concern was mixed with a bit of surprise and unspeakable disappointment.
"Is the child sick?"
"Yes, then take your time eating!" Liu Yuwei was anxious and didn't bother to explain at this time.
"Wait a minute, I'll change my clothes and send you off."
Jin Lang put down his chopsticks, his expression very serious. He knew Liu Yuwei would definitely refuse, so he continued to persuade her, "It's hard to get a taxi here, and it takes more than ten minutes to walk to the entrance of the community!"
Liu Yuwei thought about it and didn't refuse anymore. She just asked Li Xin, "Auntie, is it okay for you to be home alone?"
Li Xin waved his hand, signaling them to hurry up and deal with the important matters.
Five minutes later, a large black G-Class roared out of the underground garage at Palm Bay and sped toward the road. Inside, Liu Yuwei turned up the navigation system's volume, a robotic female voice echoing through the cramped cabin. Her eyes were fixed on the road ahead, as if she could clear the way with her gaze.
When they encountered a red light, Jin Lang slowly stopped the car and tilted his head to glance at her right hand placed on her knee. Her thumb and index finger were rubbing back and forth. It was a small subconscious movement she made when she was nervous.
"Don't worry too much, the child will be fine!" His voice was very low and had a slight nasal tone.
When Liu Yuwei heard his words, she turned her head and their eyes met. The expression on his face seemed distant and polite.
She saw that Jin Lang had some dark circles under his eyes and some stubble on his chin, and he looked very tired.
"We'll be at the hospital entrance soon. Put me down and go back quickly."
Liu Yuwei spoke softly, her voice gentle but her attitude firm. After she finished speaking, she lowered her head to check the real-time traffic conditions on the map software.
The kind words fell into Jin Lang's ears, but somehow their meaning changed. He frowned, stepped on the accelerator, and slowly turned following the traffic in front.
"Has the child's father gone to the hospital?" He couldn't help but ask indirectly.
"dad?"
It would have been fine if he hadn't mentioned it. Liu Yu's only thought was about Xiaohe's scoundrel ex-husband, and the rage boiling over him instantly ignited a firestorm. Xiaohe had just said on the phone that Xiaolu's incompetent father said he had an important meeting that afternoon and couldn't take leave. A father who neither provided money nor love was better off disappearing completely.
Thinking of this, she cursed fiercely.
“Dead!”
Jin Lang widened his eyes, thinking he was hallucinating.
"What did you say...dead?" He turned to look at Liu Yuwei, his eyes full of confusion and surprise.
She sighed and replied helplessly, "No, I'm alive and well!"
But I felt so angry that I added, "But some people are better off dead..."
Seeing her gloomy face, Jin Lang didn't want to ask any more questions, but he was thinking that an egg with a crack would be easier to break.
After exiting the ring road, the line of cars was already approaching the intersection before they even saw the Children's Hospital gate. A car happened to be leaving a nearby hotel parking lot, and Jin Lang, seizing the opportunity, dove headfirst into it.
"Get off the car, it's faster to walk, I'll go with you!" with a tone that left no room for refusal.
After saying that, he pulled the handbrake, unbuckled his seat belt and was about to get out of the car.
"Wait, are you going to the hospital like this?" Liu Yuwei pointed at his face and head. "You'll be on the headlines tomorrow!"
He said "Oh" and suddenly leaned towards the passenger side. Liu Yuwei's back couldn't help but press against the seat.
Jin Lang reached out and opened the storage box in front of her knees. Liu Yuwei stared at the neck in front of her, the familiar ocean wood aroma once again invading her nostrils. As he lowered his head, the hair that fell down brushed back and forth across her wrists.
After a moment, he pulled out a black baseball cap.
"Do you have a mask?" Jin Lang sat up straight and asked Liu Yuwei.
Just as she was about to say no, she suddenly remembered that a bank next to the law firm had held an event a few days ago and gave away an orange mask with a cartoon logo and slogan printed on it.
She took it out of her bag and handed it to him. Jin Lang took it in his hand and glanced at her, as if to say, "Is this all you have?" Liu Yuwei ignored him and opened the door and jumped out of the car. Jin Lang had no choice but to arm himself and quickly follow.
After entering the hospital lobby, Liu Yuwei called Xiaohe, who said the car was already parked and would be there soon.
While waiting, she glanced sideways at the man next to her. There was a striking touch of orange between his black hat and dark green coat.
No one would have guessed that the person standing here was a celebrity who was active in major fashion magazines and whose main job was to dress in style. Liu Yuwei couldn't help but twitch her facial muscles rapidly. When Jin Lang looked at her, she could only turn her head away and cough awkwardly.
When she looked up again, she saw Lu Xiaohe looking around at the door, and Xiaolu was held in the arms of a familiar man.
In the hospital lobby, people were coming and going, and noisy sounds were heard one after another.
"Xiaohe, here!"
She raised her arms high and shouted at the top of her voice, attracting the attention of others.
Liu Yuwei suddenly realized that there was a man who was "not convenient to see people" standing just one step away, so he quickly apologized to both sides, "Sorry, sorry!"
Jin Lang followed her gaze and, as expected, the "resurrected" father followed him, his eyebrows tightly knitted together under the brim of his hat.
Xiao He heard the shout and walked over quickly, "How come you're here so soon?"
"Someone drove me here."
Xiaohe then realized that there was someone next to him. He glanced at him quickly and was about to speak when he seemed to realize something and turned around again to look him up and down carefully.
Her eyes widened as if she had seen an alien, "You are...Jin..."
Before he could finish his words, his mouth was covered by Liu Yuwei's hand.
"Okay, I'll explain it to you later." Liu Yuwei whispered in front of her.
"Hurry up and register Xiaolu and get a number!" Xiaohe walked away. Liu Yuwei saw Xiaolu lying on Ren Yiming's shoulder. His heart tightened. He went around to her back and touched her little head.
"Poor baby, does it hurt?" she asked softly.
Xiaolu looked up and saw that it was Liu Yuwei. A glimmer of light flashed in his dim eyes, but then he became aggrieved again.
She straightened up, turned around and said to Liu Yuwei, "It hurts, hug me!"
Anyone would be heartbroken to hear this.
Liu Yuwei quickly took the child from Ren Yiming's arms and gently stroked her back.
Because she was holding the deer, her body center of gravity shifted, and the dumpling bag on her shoulder slid down into her arm.
The two men seemed to be competing in hand speed, one holding the bag's strap while the other lifted the bottom. For a long moment, neither of them showed any intention of letting go.
Liu Yuwei silently withdrew his arm from the semi-arc and spoke to Jin Lang.
"Thank you for bringing me here. The hospital is crowded and chaotic. Please go back quickly!"
After hearing this, Ren Yiming put down his hand that was dragging the bag, straightened his body, and took another small step deliberately, almost sticking to Liu Yuwei's side.
Although only a pair of eyes were exposed under Jin Lang's baseball cap, the message of "I'm unhappy" emanating from his body was quickly received by Liu Yuwei, and she subconsciously explained again.
"You must be very tired after sitting on the plane for so long. Go home and rest quickly!"
The face hidden behind the mask relaxed a little, and his hands clenched the leather straps as if protecting "trophies".
"It doesn't matter. More people means more strength."
The man's voice reached the child's ears.
The deer turned its head, stared at the stranger, and asked quietly, "Who are you?"
"Hello, I'm your mother's good friend!"
Jin Lang bent down slightly, moved closer to Xiaolu, and gently touched the tip of her nose.
Coincidentally, Lu Xiaohe ran back with a long white registration slip in his hand, his steps hurried and his chest heaving.
"Mom, is this your good friend?"
When the child's voice fell, Jin Lang and Xiao He were both stunned and stood there in a daze.
Jin Lang subconsciously pointed at Xiaohe, with a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
"You are...her mother?"
Xiao He also cooperated by pointing his index finger at the other person, "My...good friend..."
Liu Yuwei, who was still clear-headed, urged, "Let's go, let's go to the clinic and see Xiaolu first!"
She rushed forward holding the child, and the people behind her reacted and quickly followed.
The young parents queuing not far away were whispering.
"Usually when children come to see a doctor, it's always the mom and dad followed by their parents. Why are there two sets of parents here?"
"Hey, a reconstituted family, the biological parents divorced and remarried!"
"Oh, this child is so pitiful!"
"It's okay. Look, not only are my biological parents here, but my stepfather and stepmother are here too!"
"Too!"
