Chapter 15

Bai Fang nodded and moved over with Yu Yao.

When it came to asking about things, she could only stand by and watch them chat.

Yu Yao quickly ran forward and stood in front of the big tree and turned around. It looked like a very old tree. The trunk was very thick and Yu Yao couldn't get around it by herself. This season was also the season for growing new branches. The tree was lush and leafy and growing well.

She walked around to the back and looked at the houses behind the tree. They looked like bungalows that were a little different from the other small buildings in the area. She didn't know when they were built and why they had never been demolished.

"Are these these two rooms?" Yu Yao asked.

"Yes, that's them." Someone called out from the ground, "Speak up! Someone wants to ask you something."

"Cough cough." Two pretentious coughs were heard in the air.

"Can this little girl hear us?" A voice came from the small house closest to Yu Yao, and it was obviously hesitant. "Why are there more and more children who can hear us talking lately? They are all so young."

Other young children who could hear them?

Yu Yao caught this point with doubt.

"It's me. I can hear you talking." Yu Yao glanced at the two houses next to her. They were quiet and silent, obviously unwilling to pay attention to her.

Sometimes she would encounter some creatures that could talk but were too lazy to pay attention to Yu Yao, so she didn't care.

"I want to ask each of you, can you please help me check if she has come recently?" Yu Yao raised her cell phone and waved the photo of her roommate at the room that was willing to speak.

"Bring it closer so I can see." The house creaked.

Yu Yao stood by the wall with her phone in hand, facing the screen towards the wall.

Bai Fang stood behind, staring at Yu Yao's strange behavior with an incredible look on his face. Even though he knew her situation in advance, it still looked quite strange.

"How is it? This is the girl. Have you seen her recently? About a week ago." Yu Yao pointed at the person on the screen.

"Hiss..." The room took a breath and was silent for a few seconds. "I have seen it, but I don't know if I should tell you."

Yu Yao caught its attitude and asked, "Is there anything that can't be said?"

"This...it's just a matter of keeping out of each other's way. Generally speaking, we shouldn't get involved in their affairs, but you are someone who can hear us talking, so you should be the same kind of people, right?" The room fell into deep thought.

"They?" Yu Yao frowned slightly. It seemed that there was some secret hidden in its words.

"Yeah, I'm the same kind of people as them." Although she didn't know who the house was referring to, Yu Yao still agreed in order to get the point across.

"Since you could hear me talking, I figured you were probably the same kind of people. Anyway, I only have one room, and I rarely get to talk to young human girls. You probably overheard us chatting." The room coughed lightly, then said calmly, "The girl in the photo was indeed here a week ago."

Yu Yao immediately moved to the wall and listened attentively.

"A week ago, she was brought back by the group of people living on the outskirts of the village. She's been living here ever since. I see her out and about from time to time, but she never goes too far, and she never leaves the village. I guess she's still here."

"By the village?" Yu Yao turned her head and glanced at both sides. "Which side?"

"It's on your right. Go inside. There aren't many people there, but there are definitely people living there. She should be the only one there at this hour."

Yu Yao leaned over and glanced at the road on the right. It was a straight road with quiet houses on both sides. There was no sound and no one in sight. The road was a little shaky and crooked, and it was impossible to see the end at a glance.

"I understand, thank you." Yu Yao nodded. She guessed that the group of people it was talking about were probably the people who kidnapped Liang Wan's roommate as Bai Fang mentioned.

So he was really kidnapped?

Yu Yao returned to the big tree with a confused look on her face.

"How was the question?" Bai Fang stared at Yu Yao's expression, his whole face almost wrinkled with worry.

"I asked, and they said they had indeed been here, brought here by a group of people. They stayed here for so long and didn't go back. It's really possible that they were kidnapped."

Bai Fang was silent for a moment and nodded.

Then perhaps this missing case has nothing to do with the ghosts and monsters Liang Wan described.

"Let's go take a look first. We don't want to call the police and find out they're wrong. It would be a bit troublesome." Bai Fang stood up straight. "Tell me, how do we get there?"

Yu Yao peeked into the corridor and said timidly, "But what if they are really human traffickers or kidnappers? Would it be dangerous for two women like us to go there?"

Bai Fang glanced at Yu Yao and smiled slightly, "Don't worry, I can protect you."

Yu Yao withdrew her gaze and stared at Bai Fang. She silently compared the heights of the two men in her mind, and also compared Bai Fang's limbs. She then thought of the small fitness room in her home, and her eyes suddenly lit up.

"Then you have to protect me well." Yu Yao's eyes flickered, and she looked excited, no longer as timid as before.

Bai Fang nodded, and Yu Yao turned around and led the way.

"Have you asked what kind of people they are? What clothes they wear or what characteristics they have? If they are confused with ordinary people living here, we will be in trouble." Bai Fang asked in a calm voice.

"I forgot..." Yu Yao paused and smiled awkwardly, "But there shouldn't be any normal people living in there, right? Living with dangerous human traffickers and kidnappers is very dangerous."

Bai Fang nodded. It seemed that the big tree was the dividing line. The area outside was inhabited by normal office workers, while it was even more deserted as it went inwards. The houses on both sides looked like they were rarely visited. It was estimated that there were really not many people living in this area.

"But what was said in that room just now? I should be the same kind of people as them. What does this... mean?" Yu Yao was still a little upset about that. Thinking carefully, she remembered the conversation on the street before. She just chatted with those people normally.

Are the group of people mentioned in the video the same group of people as the group of people mentioned in the video?

The house said that she was the same as that group of people. Combined with what was said on the ground, does this mean that that group of people can hear objects talking just like her?

Yu Yao was a little bit hesitant to believe it for a moment.

"No matter what it is, it's always better to be careful when we get inside." Bai Fang's eyes swept across both sides quietly.

The road becomes narrower as you go in. Unlike the main road outside, the road inside is messy and has many small paths. The alleys between houses lead to new paths. It is like a maze. The paths and alleys between houses are intricately intertwined and you can go back and forth. Only people who live here often will be familiar with this place.

"There's really no one here at this hour." Yu Yao didn't meet anyone along the way. There was nothing in the entire area except quiet houses, and no human voices. It was like a deserted village, which made her feel a little timid as she walked.

Bai Fang also sensed this, and she couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure the news you heard is correct?"

Yu Yao was bewildered. "That's right, right? I've never heard an object lie. Most of them always answer questions and never lie. Unless it concerns their existence, they won't speak. But once they speak, they're usually right."

Bai Fang nodded thoughtfully. On this point, this information was more reliable than what others said.

Yu Yao has been listening to those things talking since she was a child, so her judgment should be correct. There are indeed people living in this area, but not at this time?

But if he is really a human trafficker, doing illegal business, or kidnapping, would he still work from nine to five?

This somewhat contradictory point made Bai Fang confused for a while.

"Doctor Bai..." Yu Yao suddenly stopped, grabbed Bai Fang, turned around and gestured to her to be quiet, and pointed towards the alley between the houses next to her.

Bai Fang stopped and followed her to look inside.

Looking through the alley to the other end, they could see a girl squatting on the side of the road with her back to them on the path behind the house. She looked like a young girl.

"Look, the hair length is almost the same, could it be her?" Yu Yao pointed at the photo of her roommate on her phone. From behind, the hair length was similar, but the other person was facing away, so it was difficult to confirm.

"Let's take a look first and confirm it." Bai Fang stood still, staring at the other end across the alley.

The girl was wearing a black coat and a gray skirt. She was squatting on the narrow path, doing something, but it was difficult to see clearly from this angle.

After a while, the girl stood up and saw a calico cat squatting at her feet, eating small bites of cat food scattered on the ground.

While the other party was getting up to leave, Yu Yao quickly took out her cell phone and looked through it to confirm several times.

"That profile looks like it's the same person, but it's a little far away so I'm not sure."

Bai Fang pulled her along and walked through the alley quietly, "No matter whether it is true or not, let's follow him and see for ourselves. We've been walking for so long and we just ran into someone like him."

Yu Yao was dragged across the alley by her. When the cat on the opposite road saw the two people, it shrank back, its eyes widened, and stared at them intently.

Seeing Yu Yao looking back at it, it quickly dropped the cat food, turned around and ran away, disappearing on the side of the road in a flash.

"Am I that scary? You run away when you see me. You can tell at a glance that I'm a dumb and lifeless cat." Yu Yao curled her lips and followed behind Bai Fang, keeping a distance from the girl.

"I feel a little bit strange and indescribable." Bai Fang, who was walking in front, said softly.

"Look at her, she's moving around freely, even coming out to feed the cats. She doesn't look like she was kidnapped. But she was brought here by a group of people and stayed there for a week. She didn't go back, and she didn't call. Liang Wan even called the police, but she stayed in this small, shabby village with no intention of going back."

After Bai Fang said this, Yu Yao also became confused.

"Really? How could someone who's been kidnapped find time to feed a cat?" Yu Yao's mind was a little confused. "This... isn't kidnapping?"
