Chapter 4

"Okay." Yu Yao immediately sat back in her seat and watched Bai Fang get up and open the door obediently.

Hearing a noise inside the house, the clanging door stopped for a moment, and Bai Fang opened the door. Yu Yao immediately looked out and found that the person standing outside the door was the owner of the braised meat shop who had been staring at her downstairs just now. He was glaring at Bai Fang with a ferocious look on his face, obviously coming up with full of anger.

"How many times have I told you this? Bitch!" The other person's voice was raised high, and he showed no sign of being gentle towards Bai Fang. He glared at her with malice, "Can you be quiet upstairs? I can hear you talking upstairs whenever I'm working in the kitchen. If you weren't a woman, I would have taught you a lesson long ago!"

Facing the braised meat shop owner's harsh words, Bai Fang remained quite calm, maintaining a smile as he said, "I've said this many times before. I didn't make any loud noises up there. I hope you understand that the separation between the floors isn't very thin, so my words wouldn't be easily heard down there."

"Bullshit! You're the only one living upstairs here. If it wasn't you, who else could it be? Ghost?" The boss glared at Bai Fang angrily.

Yu Yao immediately raised her hand and spoke out, "Boss, it's really possible. There's a ghost in you speaking."

The boss narrowed his eyes and glared at Yu Yao in the room, seeming a little angry and embarrassed. He rolled up his sleeves and was about to come in to do something, but Bai Fang knocked on the door in time and blocked him outside.

"Since we are neighbors, I will not mind your disturbing behavior. I hope you will respect yourself."

The man's face twisted, "Stinky woman! Don't think that just because you're a woman, I won't dare do anything to you."

Bai Fang glanced at the man quietly through the crack in the door.

From Yu Yao's position, she couldn't see what the two people were doing through the crack in the door. She only heard Bai Fang mutter a few words softly, and then he slammed the door shut.

The man outside the door was quiet for a while, and instead of harassing her again, he left cursing.

"The owner of the braised meat shop downstairs is so fierce. No wonder he was glaring at me just now." Yu Yao retracted her head, stared at Bai Fang and sat back on the sofa. Facing the man's harsh words just now, she remained calm and not angry at all.

Bai Fang smiled and straightened his sleeves calmly, "Because of his bad temper, there are not many customers in the store, and business is bad, so he sulks all day long."

Yu Yao said "Oh" thoughtfully, and then fell silent.

"What happened to him just now..." She muttered softly, and then fell silent again, looking as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

"What's wrong?" Noticing her reaction, Bai Fang asked naturally and considerately.

Yu Yao raised her eyes and blinked, staring at Bai Fang. "Doctor Bai, it's better not to provoke that man. He makes strange noises and he's so fierce."

"Strange sound?" Bai Fang seemed to be interested and sat up straight. "Ms. Yu, can you tell me, are you hallucinating something again?"

Yu Yao tilted her head and thought for a moment, "Doctor Bai, do you really want to hear this? Even though this is just my personal auditory hallucination, I think I can only listen to it for fun."

"You can tell me, didn't you come to me today to tell me some things that you don't want to tell others?" Bai Fang smiled. He was good-looking and very friendly when he smiled. Yu Yao let down her guard instantly and nodded dazedly following Bai Fang's rhythm.

"Yes, I am here to tell you about these troubles, so let me tell you."

She straightened up her body that was leaning on the sofa and sat up straight.

"It seems like Doctor Bai is often visited by him to complain about the noise problem on the floor, right?"

Bai Fang nodded.

"Just now, we were two upstairs, and I can confirm that we didn't make any loud noise. But the owner of the braised meat shop still came up angrily, saying there was a noise. It was obvious that the source of the noise was not us, but his own place."

Bai Fang raised his eyebrows slightly, and his expression became a little complicated.

"I said, I can hear a lot of sounds, animals, plants, houses, tables and chairs, from natural to man-made objects, including some things I can't see." Yu Yao's body slowly leaned forward, supporting herself on the table, closing the distance between the two of them, lowering her voice and speaking mysteriously.

"Something invisible?" Bai Fang narrowed his eyes slowly, "You mean..."

"To be precise, it's not that I can't see them, but they don't appear. I can only hear some soft whispers that I can't find the source of. Those are human voices."

Yu Yao's hint was so obvious that Bai Fang knew exactly what she was referring to. She pondered for two seconds and then whispered, "What was that sound coming from the owner of the braised meat shop just now?"

"There were two sounds." Yu Yao retreated to the sofa, her expression solemn. "One was the sound of an object. I don't know which one it was on his body, but it kept telling us not to mess with him."

"And the other one was just a very small human voice. I couldn't quite make out what they were saying."

Bai Fang's expression was also somewhat solemn, and the two of them fell into silence.

After hearing what Yu Yao said, I always felt that I would imagine some dangerous events happening to the owner of the braised meat shop.

"But, these are all hallucinations." Yu Yao laughed and broke the silence. "Maybe it's just my imagination because I judge people by their appearance. Doctor Bai, please don't take it to heart."

Bai Fang did not respond, but lowered his eyes and thought about something.

"Doctor Bai?" Yu Yao called out tentatively.

Bai Fang suddenly came back to his senses, a smile reappearing on his face. "But if that's what you think, then what about the sound the owner of the braised meat shop heard? I'm the only one living upstairs from him."

"What does Doctor Bai think is the source of that sound he heard?"

Bai Fang was silent for a moment and shook his head.

"There's a high possibility that it's the voice in him that's been talking all the time."

"For example, if a soft whisper floats above you, you would automatically think it's someone speaking upstairs."

"Doesn't this happen sometimes? The walls at home are very thin, and when people in the next room talk, it comes through the wall and becomes very small, like their whispers."

Bai Fang nodded, not quite understanding. "So, why can he hear strange noises like you? I didn't hear any at all."

"Oh, that." Yu Yao explained calmly, "Didn't I just say that there are some voices whose sources I don't know? It's not that I can't see them, but that they don't appear. Because the sounds I can hear are all visible to me."

"Actually, they do exist and can be seen, but ordinary people can't hear or see their existence. Except for special cases like me, there is another situation."

Yu Yao smiled and curved her eyes. "He's about to become the same as that voice."

"That is, he can hear the voices of the dead, which means he is about to die."

Bai Fang was stunned. "There's a dead person next to him who keeps talking to him, and he can hear it because he's dying?"

Yu Yao shrugged. "Based on my understanding of my auditory hallucinations, that's about right. But it's just an auditory hallucination, so I shouldn't worry about it."

Bai Fang pondered, then raised his eyes and stared at Yu Yao. "So, does that mean that many people around you seem to have human voices?"

Yu Yao waved her hand. "No, that wouldn't scare me. The sounds I hear most from people are the sounds of objects, not people. And generally speaking, these people's voices are rare. It's rare to encounter someone who stays on that person and keeps muttering. Is there something important?"

Bai Fang nodded, his face full of thoughts.

"Why is Doctor Bai so interested?" Yu Yao moved closer with great interest. "Is Doctor Bai a fan of this kind of thing?"

Bai Fang shook his head. "It's just that your auditory hallucinations make me curious. Listening to your descriptions, they sound like they're real, the sounds of objects and plants."

Yu Yao couldn't help but laugh. "I'm surprised Dr. Bai is interested in this kind of thing. If you heard a mentally ill person talk, would you believe everything?"

"This is just my auditory hallucination. Doctor Bai, don't take it to heart. Why should you believe something that I don't even believe in?"

Bai Fang smiled and said, "I don't believe everything everyone says. It's just that something strange happened to me before, which makes me more sensitive to this kind of thing."

"Most of the clients I usually see are worried about various pressures such as love, career, family, and study. It's rare to encounter someone with such a strange auditory hallucination as yours. Personally, I'm quite interested in it and want to find out whether it's a true hallucination or something else."

Yu Yao carefully pondered over Bai Fang's words in her mind and highlighted the key points.

In short, Dr. Bai is very interested in her now? !

Yu Yao walked forward with sparkling eyes, blinked, and stared at Bai Fang. "Doctor Bai, are you willing to help me resolve my mental issues and delve into my auditory hallucinations?"

Facing Yu Yao's expression that was three parts expectation and seven parts calculation, Bai Fang nodded hesitantly.

Yu Yao danced with excitement in her heart.

Very good! As long as there is a legitimate reason, we will continue to have long-term contact in the future!

"Now then..." Bai Fang pointed downstairs, "Let's go to the braised meat shop downstairs and confirm what that voice is saying."

Yu Yao paused. She didn't expect Bai Fang to be so proactive.

"Doctor Bai, are you sure you want to go downstairs now?"

Bai Fang, who had already stood up, turned around and glanced at Yu Yao, his smile gentle and kind, radiant. "Isn't this for you?"

Yu Yao was dazzled by the beautiful smile. Her chest thumped twice and she immediately stood up. With her cheeks flushed, she followed Bai Fang obediently like a little duck.

"The corridor is not very bright, so you should be careful." After Bai Fang waited for Yu Yao to leave, he turned around and locked his door. He stretched out his hand to Yu Yao, and asked Yu Yao to carefully hold her arm and go downstairs.

Yu Yao hugged Bai Fang's arm with excitement, and just when she wanted to feel the soft and warm arm of her gentle elder sister, she touched it.

Huh? It doesn't seem as soft and delicate as I imagined.

And through the delicate touch of the white shirt, the outline of the arm seems... a little muscular?

For some reason, the box of fitness equipment in Bai Fang's room suddenly popped up in Yu Yao's mind.
