The late autumn sunlight dappled the glass windows of "Yanshan Dessert Shop," casting a warm glow on Xu Yanchi's hair. Unlike in high school, she now had waist-length hair, the ends slightly curled, cascading over the shoulders of her off-white knitted sweater. Many years had passed, and Xu Yanchi had even blossomed into a more beautiful woman. Her contact information was constantly being added, and love letters had never ceased over the years. She was chatting idly with Xue Su behind the counter, her fingertips poking at the freshly made strawberry mousse.
"Your shop has been open for a year and the customers have never stopped coming in." Xu Yanchi stirred his coffee with a smile. "Especially this strawberry mousse, it's sold out every day. People who don't know better would think you're hiding some secret recipe."
Xue Su blushed slightly and glared at her, "There's no secret recipe. I just followed your instructions and added a little more honey." As soon as she finished speaking, the wind chimes at the door tinkled softly, and a series of familiar footsteps drifted over—not heavy, but like footsteps treading on her heart.
"I'd like a Goose Pond cake and a cup of hot milk."
A deep voice, tinged with laughter, reached her ear. Xu Yanchi's fingers froze, her breath catching in her throat. She slowly raised her eyes, meeting a pair of eyes brimming with tenderness—Xiao Fuzhou stood backlit, his figure even taller and more imposing than in his student days. His dark gray trench coat accentuated his handsome features, and he was smiling at her, the light in his eyes reflecting only her image.
Xue Su subconsciously looked in the direction of the speaker. The man in front of her was tall, and his face was not clearly visible in the shadows. Xue Su was a little puzzled, but she felt that the deep voice was very familiar. Nevertheless, she still said in that direction, "Sir, we don't have Yanchi cakes here. You can take a look at our menu. We have a few new products recently. You can take a look."
"Of course there is one. Isn't there one to Mr. Xue's left?" The man chuckled, looking at Xu Yanchi with a smile in his eyes.
"Floating Boat..." Xu Yanchi's voice was as soft as a feather, her long hair falling beside her cheeks, obscuring her flushed ear tips. She had already recognized the person in front of her as Xiao Fuzhou.
Xue Su, standing beside her, immediately drew out an ambiguous "Oh~", patted her head, and said with a sudden realization, "Oh dear, look at my brain, it's Xiao Fuzhou! I feel like your voice has changed a bit lately, I'm really getting old and forgetting everything." Xue Su paused, then tactfully turned and walked towards the kitchen, "Alright, I'll go heat up the milk, I won't disturb you two."
Xiao Fuzhou strode closer, his tall figure looming over her. He raised his hand and gently pinched her chin, his fingertips brushing against her delicate skin. His tone was tinged with a doting helplessness: "I was wondering why I couldn't find you at home. Turns out you were hiding here, slacking off."
Xu Yanchi looked up at him, her nose just touching his Adam's apple, and she could smell the faint scent of cedar on him. She scratched her head awkwardly, her ears turning bright red: "I...I didn't forget...I just thought I'd come and check on the shop and make you your favorite mousse."
"Oh? Made for me?" Xiao Fuzhou raised an eyebrow, leaned closer, and his warm breath brushed against the top of her head. "If the mousse cake isn't good, then what about my anniversary gift? Is Reporter Xu planning to just give me a slice of mousse?"
Xu Yanchi's cheeks flushed from his words. She reached out and pushed against his chest, but he grabbed her wrist instead. Feeling a little flustered, she asked softly, "What would you like to eat? I'll have Xue Su make it for you." Xiao Fuzhou gently pinched her chin, his warm breath brushing against her ear. "Let me try the 'Yanchi Cake' and see how it tastes." Xu Yanchi blushed and was about to retort when Xiao Fuzhou pulled her towards the storage room behind the counter—it was next to the kitchen. Once the door was closed, Xue Su's view was blocked, and only the sweet aroma of cream could be smelled in the air.
The storage room was cramped, piled high with flour sacks and sugar jars. Sunlight streamed in obliquely through the ventilation window, falling on their intertwined shadows. Xiao Fuzhou closed the door behind him, trapping her between himself and the wall. Looking down at her reddened eyes, his voice was so soft it could melt your heart: "Let me have a taste. We've been married for almost a year, it's about time I got some pleasure, isn't it? Hmm?"
Before Xu Yanchi could react, his kiss gently landed. First, it brushed against her flushed earlobe, then moved down to her slightly parted lips, as tenderly as if handling a fragile treasure. His fingertips gently tucked her long hair behind her ear, his palm against the back of her neck. Xiao Fuzhou pried open her teeth, exploring Xu Yanchi's mouth, deepening the kiss. The sweet scent of ylang-ylang mingled with the cedarwood on his body, filling the air. Xu Yanchi closed her eyes, her fingertips unconsciously gripping the hem of his trench coat, even her breathing becoming long and even. Five minutes later, Xiao Fuzhou reluctantly released Xu Yanchi. Both were panting heavily, especially Xu Yanchi, whose face was as red as a cherry, making her appear even more delicate. Xu Yanchi felt a tingling sensation all over her body; she seemed to still be reeling from the kiss. Looking at Xu Yanchi's profile, Xiao Fuzhou couldn't resist gently stroking it, treating it with the utmost care as if it were a precious treasure. He licked his lips and said, "Delicious. It would be even better if it were in bed." Xu Yanchi blushed and said, "Xiao Fuzhou, if you keep talking nonsense about anniversaries, I won't celebrate with you anymore!" Xiao Fuzhou smiled, his eyes sparkling like stars in the sunlight.
Only when Xue Su called out from outside the door, "The milk is almost ready," did Xiao Fuzhou slowly back away, his fingertips gently tracing her lips, which were red from being kissed, his eyes full of laughter: "It's not good enough yet, shall we go to bed?"
Xu Yanchi's cheeks burned, and she buried her face in his chest, giving him a muffled punch: "Don't mention this again, what if Xue Su just saw us?"
"It's good that she saw it." Xiao Fuzhou tightened his arms, encircling her in his embrace, his chin resting on the top of her head. "Let her know that my darling has already been taken home by me."
Just then, there was a gentle knock on the storage room door, and Xue Su's voice was filled with laughter: "The milk is ready! If you two don't come out soon, I'll eat all the mousse!"
Xu Yanchi abruptly pushed Xiao Fuzhou away, tidied her slightly disheveled long hair, her ear tips still red, but she couldn't help glaring at him. Xiao Fuzhou chuckled, took her hand, and gently pushed open the storage room door, his tone full of doting: "Come on, let's eat the mousse you made."
Sunlight fell upon them again, and the pearl hair clip behind Xu Yanchi's ear shimmered with tiny sparkles. The wind blew through the dessert shop, carrying the sweet scent of mousse and the lingering warmth of their kiss, swirling around them—it turns out the sweetest thing isn't the cake, but that even after all these years, you would still bend down and, in a corner where no one could see, give me a kiss filled with love.
