First meeting

First meeting

Lingcang Peak was dyed white with snow, sparkling in the sunlight. The snow had already reached above the ankles and fell on a plum tree, pressing down the thin branches a little. Even so, it still raised its head as if unwilling to accept the defeat and supported its body, refusing to show weakness.

Yin Jingyi stood alone in the open-air pavilion of Ningyin Pavilion, gazing into the distance. "The winter on Lingcang Peak is really getting colder."

"You know it's cold, yet you're wearing so little? I don't want to take care of you when you're sick." Lin Yu stepped forward and put a pure black fox fur coat on Yin Jingyi. Yin Jingyi saw that the visitor still had a few flakes of unmelted snow on his head, obviously he had come in a hurry and didn't have time to hold an umbrella. Even in the snow, he was only wearing a thin casual dress for not entertaining guests and a simple snow-white outer coat. Yin Jingyi shook the visitor's hand, and a piercing chill spread to his palm. Yin Jingyi frowned slightly and asked, "It's so cold, why did you come wearing so little?"

"Just now, a gatekeeper disciple came to Ningyin Pavilion looking for you, saying that there was a young man at the door asking to see you."

So, the two of them went to the front door together. Upon opening it, they saw a young man who looked only fourteen or fifteen years old. He had fair skin, narrow eyebrows, and delicate features. His only flaw was a slightly sunken cheek, giving him a frail appearance. Despite the heavy snow, he was wearing only a thin shirt, which looked as if it had been worn for a long time. The original color had mostly faded, and it was covered in several patches. His knuckles were already blue and cold.

"Let's go to the conference room first." The cold wind outside the door was biting, and even someone like him who had been practicing for many years shivered. Yin Jingyi invited everyone in. After arriving at the conference room, Lin Yu sat down with Yin Jingyi. The young man was standing opposite them. Young Master Yin Heng was curious when he heard that a young man wanted to see the master, so he hurried from the school to the conference room to join in the fun.

"Why do you come here to see me in this weather?" Yin Jingyi looked at him, and the young man bowed to him.

"I happened to hear that the leader of the Cang Jing Sect of Ling Cang Peak is a kind person. Now that I have nowhere to go, I have come to ask the leader to take me in." The young man's cold voice was emotionless, and his eyes were low as he spoke, making it difficult to discern his emotions. While the vast Ling Cang Peak was not so poor that it could not afford to support this person, after all, unknown backgrounds were still a matter of consideration. Before Yin Jingyi could reply, Yin Heng appeared out of nowhere.

"Father, this man is pitiful because he has nowhere to go. Why not leave him here to practice with me?"

Yin Jingyi sighed and said, "Forget it. If you want to stay, then stay." Yin Jingyi didn't care. What could a young boy who was still wet behind the ears do? So he dismissed everyone and took Lin Yu back to Ningyin Pavilion.

After everyone left, Yin Heng leaned forward slightly to look at the face of the person in front of him. She was indeed a beauty, even more beautiful than a woman.

"May I have your name."

"The surname is Xiao, and the single character is Yuan."

"What a nice name! My name is Yin Heng. You'll follow me from now on. There's an empty side room in my residence, so you can live there."

Yin Heng took Xiao Yuan back to his residence. They were both silent the entire way. When they arrived, they saw the plaque at the entrance clearly inscribed with "Yujieyuan." The name was inspired by its owner, just like Yin Heng, gentle and smooth like jade.

"Wait in the side room first. I'll go get something." Xiao Yuan didn't stop to walk towards the side room he mentioned. Although no one lived in the side room, it was well furnished, which was perfect for a homeless person.

After a while, Yin Heng also came to the side room, but with a cloak in his hand. He handed the cloak to Xiao Yuan.

"My mother made this cloak for me two years ago, but I've never worn it. Judging from the looks of it, I should be older than you, so this is probably the only one I can wear. Try it on." Xiao Yuan didn't respond after hearing all this, but just put on the cloak silently.

"This blue color suits you very well. I'll give it to you. When the snow stops, I'll have someone make you some new clothes." Xiao Yuan nodded and said, "Thank you."

The two of them sat face to face in silence. Suddenly, Yin Heng approached the man with a smile on his face, his long black hair flowing forward like a waterfall. "Xiao Yuan, why are you so quiet? Have you always been so quiet?" Yin Heng added a smile to his words. "Then you'll have to get used to it. I'm a talkative person." Xiao Yuan was startled by the sudden words, and a hint of surprise lingered in her eyes. She hadn't expected this person to be so familiar. Xiao Yuan looked at the person in front of him, speechless. Without saying a word, he turned his head and picked up a book to read.

"Why do you always have so much to say? You're such a nuisance."
