Fairy
In March, as the Spring Equinox approaches, the pear blossoms in the south of the Yangtze River always bloom earlier than elsewhere, creating a unique romance of this place.
The weather was gradually warming up, and the sun seemed to rise earlier than usual, rising at the hour of dawn and hanging high in the sky. Yin Heng got up early, changed his clothes, and went to the kitchen to get breakfast.
It was still early, so Xiao Yuan must not have eaten yet. He thought of bringing some food to Xiao Yuan as well. Yin Heng, carrying his lunch box, walked from the courtyard to Xiao Yuan's side room. Arriving at the door, he assumed Xiao Yuan wasn't awake yet, so he opened it without knocking and prepared to go in. But when he opened the door, he saw Xiao Yuan changing, his clothes unbuttoned, revealing a large expanse of fair skin. When Yin Heng realized what was happening, he was startled and quickly turned his back.
"What are you doing here?!" Xiao Yuanzi was frightened when he saw Yin Heng coming. He quickly buttoned up his clothes and questioned the visitor.
"I'm so sorry, I thought you weren't awake yet." Seeing Xiao Yuan angry, Yin Heng hurriedly explained.
"Then why are you still standing here? Go out." Xiao Yuan was speechless. How could someone be so stupid? Upon hearing this, Yin Heng ran out with the food box and waited in the yard.
A moment later, Xiao Yuan finished changing and emerged from his room. Yin Heng saw him blushing slightly. His eyebrows curved, and he smiled, "Xiao Yuan, why are you blushing? We're both men, so what's so embarrassing?" Xiao Yuan didn't bother to argue, silently cursing "hooligan" in his heart. The devilish Yin Heng noticed that he didn't say anything, but instead, he pressed his lips against his ear.
"Could it be... you are gay?"
Xiao Yuan's anger immediately flared up when he heard this. "Yin Heng! How can you, as the young master, say such foul language?!"
"Hey, don't be angry, I was just joking. You're no more capable of taking a joke than those old fogies."
Xiao Yuan frowned and was speechless, his anger mostly subsiding. "Forget it, you never say anything nice. What's the matter with you coming to see me so early in the morning?"
Yin Heng raised the food box in his hand with a smile, "Of course I'm here to bring you breakfast."
After such a misunderstanding early in the morning, Xiao Yuan accepted the lunch box resignedly, took out his breakfast, and ate silently. Yin Heng sat across from him, propping up his head and looking at him with a smile. Due to the weather, Xiao Yuan's eyes were misty and frosted. Xiao Yuan's hair was not tied up, and it was loose, reaching nearly waist length, with a few strands falling from her temples, highlighting her cool and cool look.
…
A month ago, Yin Heng had arranged training for Xiao Yuan, entrusting him to the sect's Ice School Elder Huaiyu. Xiao Yuan had also been diligent in his training, having already mastered the techniques in just over a month, presumably only needing to improve. Although the two were not under the same eldership, they attended classes together, aside from their core subjects. After all, Yin Heng's master, Elder Xuanye, was the head of the Cangjing Sect's elders, so his classes were naturally the most important.
There was no major course today so the two of them attended Elder Xuanye's class together. When it was time for class, they went to the school together. Today, Elder Xuanye reviewed the knowledge he had taught in the past. Yin Heng had already memorized it and naturally didn't want to listen. However, Xiao Yuan came late and had never heard it before so he listened very carefully. He was always so hardworking.
Yin Heng was bored and wanted to play a trick on him. He cast a spell to summon wind to blow Xiao Yuan's hair around. At first, Xiao Yuan didn't bother to pay attention to him and just focused on the class, but the man showed no signs of getting tired and became more and more excited. Xiao Yuan closed his eyes and pinched his brows, then opened them and slapped Yin Heng's hand.
Xiao Yuan deliberately lowered his voice and scolded, "Don't move, listen carefully." Seeing that he was serious, Yin Heng stopped teasing him and closed his eyes and fell asleep on the desk. When he opened his eyes, he found that the class was over and Elder Xuanye was long gone. He stood up, stretched, and dragged Xiao Yuan to dinner.
After dinner, Yin Heng informed Xiao Yuan that the weather had been fluctuating lately, and that Madam Lin was unwell and needed a visit. He told Xiao Yuan to make his own arrangements and then headed to Ningyin Pavilion. With nothing else to do after finishing his studies, Xiao Yuan grabbed a random book from his study and headed to Fengyu Terrace. It was pear blossom season, and the trees there were already covered in blossoms. Arriving under the tree, he knelt down with his book, leaning against the sturdy trunk. It was already twilight hour, the sun hanging high above the mountainside, and he gradually drifted off to sleep.
After Yin Heng finished visiting Madam Lin, it was already late at night. He returned to Yujie Courtyard from Ningyin Pavilion and searched the courtyard but couldn't find Xiao Yuan. Suddenly, he thought of a place. He ran to Fengyu Terrace and searched everywhere until he finally saw Xiao Yuan under the pear tree.
Beyond the crystal curtains, a bright moon shone, and pear blossoms lay layered with snow. Clusters of pear blossoms weighed low, resembling clouds perched on trees from afar. Up close, the petals seemed as thin as cicada wings, nearly transparent in the moonlight. Moonlight filtered through the petals, falling on Xiao Yuan's face, making her skin appear even whiter and more translucent.
Yin Heng walked over to Xiao Yuan, lifted some of his hair and tucked it behind his ear, unconsciously stroking his eyelashes. Xiao Yuan was woken up and slowly opened his eyes.
Yin Heng joked, "Whose pear blossom fairy is this? How come she ended up in my house?" Xiao Yuan frowned slightly.
"What Pear Blossom Fairy?"
"Xiao Xiaoyuan, would you like to take a look at yourself?"
Xiao Yuan looked down at someone's prompting, realizing he was covered in pear blossom petals. He truly looked like the "Pear Blossom Fairy." He brushed the petals off his body. Yin Heng, leaning against a tree trunk, bent down to help him remove the petals from his head. In a moment, all the pear blossoms on Xiao Yuan's body were gone. Seeing this, Yin Heng reached out to him.
"Fairy Lihua, it's getting late. Can you go back with me?" Xiao Yuan put her hand on his palm and used the force to stand up. The two were so close that they could almost hear each other's heartbeats, and their hot breath sprayed on their faces.
The moonlight dyed their hair silver-white, and time seemed to freeze at this moment. The two of them were together, never far away.
