Fu Man'er's strange behavior was quickly investigated, but the answer she received did not satisfy her.
"Butler Qi?" She remembered the chubby man with shrewd eyes.
"Yes, I did some inquiries. Since Master Qi passed away, Steward Qi has basically been in charge of the Qi family," the servant replied.

"Where is Qi Shi?" Fu Man'er asked, having heard that he had been brought back to the Qi family.
"The people in the Qi family look down on this young master, saying he's a country bumpkin who doesn't know anything."
“Now, apart from letting him rest in bed, he can’t get involved in anything else.”
Fu Man'er had anticipated what the servant had said. Since the Qi family had no master, their property would definitely be divided up by the person closest to them.
Now, suddenly, a Cheng Yaojin appears out of nowhere. Anyone would feel annoyed, let alone the fact that this Cheng Yaojin can rightfully inherit the Qi family's property.
"Keep a close eye on Steward Qi's affairs." Fu Man'er had dealt with the Qi family before, and she always felt that Steward Qi didn't seem to be someone from the Qi family.
The servant left as instructed. Fu Man'er glanced at the hourglass in the room; it was already noon, and she couldn't see her brother downstairs. It seemed her brother was also very busy today.
Just as Fu Man'er was about to have the dishes served, Xu Yi came in.
"Brother." Fu Man'er was overjoyed to see him, but Xu Yi's expression was not good. Before Fu Man'er could ask, Xu Yi spoke first.
"The officials might come to question you later. Don't be afraid. Just tell them what you know. I'll stay with you."

Xu Yi rushed over from elsewhere, and his meticulously styled hair was now somewhat disheveled.
"They want to question me?" Fu Man'er was taken aback, then realized, "It's not about the Qi family, is it?"
Xu Yi nodded, which is why he rushed over so quickly.
Fu Man'er looked puzzled. She was afraid of getting involved with the Qi family's affairs, which was why she restrained her subordinates from talking nonsense.
How come the officials still managed to find her here?
The officials arrived almost immediately after Xu Yi, but they were still taken aback when they saw him.
One of the leaders, Constable Wang, spoke politely to Xu Yi.
"Commander Xu, we just want to ask Miss Man'er a few questions." The implication was that they would still treat Fu Man'er with courtesy.
Since the two got engaged, many people knew that they were betrothed, so Officer Wang naturally knew why Xu Yi was here.
Now everyone in Yunzhen knows that our CEO Xu Qian is very fond of his fiancée, whom he raised since childhood, just like protecting the apple of his eye.
"Go ahead and ask. The guards are obligated to assist your government in handling matters." Anyway, I'm just standing here and not moving. You can't force me to leave.
Of course Officer Wang knows, but it's not like you, Commander Xu, need to show up all the time.
With Xu Yi, this formidable figure, keeping him in check, Constable Wang had to speak softly, afraid of frightening the young lady and then getting a glare from Xu Yi.
The questions were simply about what Fu Man'er was doing when the Qi family had their accident, to see if she had the opportunity to commit the crime.
Hey, this question means either Fu Man'er is with Xu Yi, or Xu Yi is with Fu Man'er.
Officer Wang wiped his face, but before he could speak, Fu Man'er added, "Besides him, there's also the manager of my cloth shop, my maid, and the coachman."
“I spend a lot of time in the bookstore, and everyone here can vouch for me.”
Now that things have come to this point, if Constable Wang asks any more questions, he really will be thrown out by Xu Yi.
"Then we won't disturb General Xu and Miss Man'er any longer. We'll take our leave." He was about to leave with his men when Fu Man'er called him back.
"Brother Constable, I'd like to ask you why you suddenly want to question me?"

Officer Wang glanced at Xu Yi and lowered his voice, saying, "This morning someone found a letter at the entrance of the county government office."
"It lists several people who might target the Qi family, one of whom is your Xuanhe Cloth Shop."
Fu Man'er understood, thanked Constable Wang, and then had them sent away.
“I thought I had the workers’ mouths shut, but I didn’t expect someone to deliberately bring it up,” Fu Man’er said to Xu Yi.
As things unfolded, Xu Yi realized, "Anyone who gets involved with the Qi family is doomed."
Fu Man'er was considered lucky; I heard that the letter mentioned a cloth shop, and the people there were taken directly to the yamen (government office).
Before the incident, Master Qi had a huge argument with the owner of that cloth shop. The argument was so intense that they didn't care about anything else when they spoke.
Now that someone is in trouble, won't their past words be brought up and used against them?
"Don't worry too much. Just do what needs to be done. There's no need to be afraid of the Qi family," Xu Yi comforted him.
At this point, it seemed that anyone who opposed the Qi family was suspected of plotting against them.

Fu Man'er smiled calmly, "I'm not afraid at all. Only a fool wouldn't make money when there's an opportunity."
Fu Man'er never backs down from any order that competes with the Qi family; whoever gets it will have to rely on their own abilities.
We can't just give it up because we're afraid of getting involved.
"Brother, I always feel that there's something strange about the Qi family."
Xu Yi nodded. "It's not just suspicious, I feel like someone set up a trap."
"Ah, then tell me quickly." Fu Man'er had already moved a small stool over and sat down. She wasn't very bright; she only knew something was wrong, but she hadn't thought of it as a setup.
The little girl rested her chin on her hand, her eyes shining brightly as she looked at Xu Yi; she was incredibly cute.
Xu Yi's heart melted, and he wanted to tease her.
"Then I'll have to think about it."
"Huh? We still need to think about it?" Fu Man'er pouted. "Isn't the government office allowing us to talk about this?"
She knew that some things related to the case shouldn't be said casually, so she didn't ask.
However, this is Xu Yi's own speculation and idea, which is not within the scope of the government's restrictions.
"Of course not, but how could I just say that without some benefit?" With that, Xu Yi casually sat down in the chair and put his hands on the armrests.
Fu Man'er immediately saw through the obvious hint: "It's just a back massage, I'll do it."
The reason for this was that when Xu Yi returned home the night before last, he found Fu Man'er massaging Liu Fang and Xu Genshan's backs, saying it was to show filial piety to her parents.
Xu Yi immediately said sourly, "Man'er, I want to too."
The little girl was giving a passionate massage when, without even looking up, she snapped at Xu Yi, "Then I'll have the maid do the massage?"
Xu Yi refused without even thinking; he didn't want any other woman near him.
Now that he has the opportunity, how could he not take the chance to experience it?
Fu Man'er rolled up her sleeves, clenched her fists, and started punching Xu Yi's shoulders, one up and one down.
She stood behind Xu Yi, unable to see the expression on his face, and asked while punching him, "How is it? Is the force okay? I learned from the master."
Xu Yi gritted his teeth, his eyebrows furrowed tightly, and his body stiffened when Fu Man'er's fist came down.
"Okay, okay." He said, quickly stepping aside.
"Hmm? I've only just begun," Fu Man'er said, indicating that she hadn't yet shown off the skills she had learned from her master.
Xu Yi forced a smile and pulled Fu Man'er to sit down next to him. "Alright, I was just joking with you. I wouldn't really let you massage my back."
Fu Man'er's hand was held in Xu Yi's hand. Xu Yi looked down at her soft, boneless little hand and just couldn't understand it.
How can such small hands be so strong? If Fu Man'er really hits him, his shoulder blades could be crushed.
Fu Man'er was a little disappointed that she couldn't continue. "Okay, then you said you didn't want this benefit, so don't blame me."
Xu Yi shook his head. "It's alright, I don't blame you." He dared not accept such a benefit; he was afraid that if he did, he would have a hard time leaving the bookstore today.
It's just a pity he didn't have a body as strong as a copper wall; otherwise, at least he could have gotten a few punches from Man'er.
"Then tell me quickly," Fu Man'er urged.
Xu Yi looked down and saw the little girl's face tilted back. He was stunned because they were so close.
Fu Man'er waited a while but he still didn't speak. She blinked and, as if thinking about something, suddenly stood up.
Then Xu Yi felt something soft press against his cheek, and the usually composed Xu Qianzong's eyes widened as big as saucers.
"Speak," Fu Man'er urged again.
"Say, say what?" Xu Yi stared blankly at Fu Man'er, stammering slightly.
The little girl got annoyed. She was the one listening, so how could she know what to say? She slapped Xu Yi's arm.
Fu Man'er glared at him fiercely, "What did you say?"
Xu Yi still didn't know what to say. All he knew was that the sound of that slap was as loud as the sound of his heartbeat.
