Chapter 264 She Didn’t Mean It

I just needed to find out the identity of the reporter who uploaded the video from Lan Feng, so I simply told her the address.

As soon as I got home, Lan Feng and Lan Xiaoyu came over.

"Auntie." Lan Xiaoyu called me obediently, looking at me with an apologetic look, obviously still brooding over what happened before.

Lan Feng was carrying two large bags of food and said to me flatteringly, "I know you haven't had a good appetite lately. I'll cook tonight."

The video incident caused trouble, and Lan Feng is here to atone for his sins.

I didn't refuse, but turned sideways to let the mother and daughter in.

Lan Feng went straight to the kitchen to busy herself. Lan Xiaoyu wanted to help, but I stopped her.

"You rest in the living room. I have something to say to your mother."

Lan Xiaoyu was stunned for a moment, but she quickly guessed what I was going to talk about with Lan Feng.

Lan Xiaoyu reached out and grabbed my sleeve, looking at me cautiously, "Aunt, my mother didn't mean to cause trouble for you. She was just angry at the time, so she was deceived by that reporter. She now knows she did something wrong."

Hearing Lan Xiaoyu say this, the last bit of anger in my heart disappeared completely.

From Lan Feng's perspective as a mother, I can understand her action of handing the video to the reporter. However, if Lan Feng was a little smarter, she might not have been deceived and exploited.

Meeting Lan Xiaoyu's worried gaze, I promised her, "Don't worry, I know your mother didn't do it on purpose. I just want to understand what happened, not to quarrel with your mother."

Lan Xiaoyu nodded doubtfully before letting me go.

I walked into the kitchen and saw Lan Feng busy cutting vegetables right after stewing the meat. Thinking back on how she had prepared different kinds of food for me over the years, it wasn't easy.

I picked up a bunch of vegetables and started picking them. Lan Feng saw me and reached out to grab them, but I dodged her.

Lan Feng tutted, a hint of unnaturalness on his face, "I've already told you to leave it to me, why bother getting involved!"

I raised my eyes to her calmly and asked directly, "How did you know that the person you met at the police station was a reporter?"

When talking about this matter, Lan Feng couldn't help feeling guilty.

She lowered her head and mumbled, explaining, "I was skeptical at the time, but she handed me a business card and said she was a reporter for Southern Weekly. I believed her when I saw the card."

Southern Weekly? I frowned slightly. I remembered that the media outlet that first posted this video online was not Southern Weekly.

Would a reporter sell the information he had worked so hard to dig up to other media outlets?

I became suspicious and asked Lan Feng, "Where's the business card? Is it still there?"

"Here." Lan Feng took the business card out of her pocket and handed it to me. "I thought it might be useful, so I brought it here specially. But I called the number above and no one answered."

I took the business card and took a look at it. The name on it was "Hao Qing".

"Okay, I'll go to Southern Weekly tomorrow and ask and talk to this reporter." I didn't ask Lan Feng any further about this matter. I put the business card in my pocket and continued to pick vegetables.

My calmness seemed to be beyond Lan Feng's expectations.

She stared at me blankly and asked cautiously, "You, you don't blame me?"

I looked up helplessly at her. "It's already happened. Is it any use for me to blame you? Besides, what am I blaming you for? Blaming you for not taking it out on your daughter?"
