Chapter 288 Stealing Parents’ Love

I'm not beating around the bush; I want to know the truth.

When Lan Feng heard my question, her hand trembled and the soup in the bowl almost spilled onto the table.

"What nonsense are you talking about? You have been in the Lan family since you were a child, and your parents love you so much, so of course you are your parents' child."

She answered me like this, but she didn't dare look at me at all. She kept pretending that her hands were busy with something, but she was just putting the lunch boxes back and forth in different places.

Her every move clearly showed that she felt guilty about what she had said.

She handed me the spoon, eager to change the subject: "Stop thinking about it and eat quickly."

I didn't take the spoon. Lan Feng's deliberate concealment made me even more suspicious.

I stared at her and felt uneasy.

I said word by word: "Sister, we have been together since childhood, I know you very well, I don't want you to lie to me."

Lan Feng's breathing was a little rapid, but she still denied it flatly: "No, how could I lie to you about something like this? You must be too sensitive lately. Don't always think too much."

Lan Feng's eyes were always evasive and his words were ambiguous.

I simply took out the copy of the adoption certificate that Yan Meng gave me from under my pillow and handed it to Lan Feng. "Since you didn't lie to me, then tell me, how do you explain this adoption certificate?"

Lan Feng just glanced at the copy and her expression changed immediately.

Her eyes were filled with shock and she asked in disbelief, "Where did you get this?"

"That's not important." I stared at Lan Feng with burning eyes, my tone solemn and low, "I just hope to hear the truth from you. Am I my parents' biological daughter?!"

Lan Feng was silent, as if she was trying hard to suppress something.

My heart sank suddenly, and her silence gave me a vague premonition.

After a moment of silence, Lan Feng asked me in a sentimental tone, "Does it really matter whether or not the child is your biological child?"

She finally dared to look me in the eye and told me the truth word for word: "You are right. You are not your parents' biological daughter. You were adopted by them."

really!

Something in my brain seemed to snap instantly. Even though I had prepared myself mentally, after learning the truth, I still found it hard to accept.

I'm really not the Lan family's daughter?!

I was stunned when Lan Feng sneered sarcastically, "So what if you're not my parents' biological child? Ask yourself, from childhood to adulthood, when have your parents ever treated you as an outsider? They even asked me to keep this secret, fearing that it would hurt you psychologically."

I slowly raised my head and saw the grief and anger in Lan Feng's eyes.

The smile on her lips turned bitter. "From childhood to adulthood, you were clearly the adopted one, but your parents always loved you more than me. They always asked me to give in to you, always worried that they didn't give you enough. I always wondered, why? Why did you appear in my home? Why did you take away all the love my parents should have given me? Even when they passed away, they still told me to take good care of you and not let you suffer any injustice."

Lan Feng's eyes were red. "In my parents' hearts, it was as if you were their biological child. I really hated you back then."

I was stunned, and suddenly understood why Lan Feng had been so jealous and resentful of me in the past.

It was me who stole the love that her parents should have given her.
