Chapter 291: Being Switched

The store manager picked up the test report and my hospitalization certificate on the table in shock, looked at them carefully, and his face changed suddenly.

"That's impossible!" the store manager insisted firmly. "There's no way there's anything wrong with the cakes in our store. Could it be that you remembered it wrongly? Did you order cakes from someone else's store and mix them up?"

Seeing that the store manager was so confident about the cakes in their store, I couldn't help but feel a little shaken.

If there really was something wrong with this cake shop, or if they were bribed and deliberately tampered with my cake, the manager would have run away by now and would not have come to see me at all.

But the store manager's words suddenly reminded me of something.

I did receive the cake that night, but that doesn’t mean it was the one made in the store.

At this time, I saw a man who was responsible for delivery walking outside the door. He was wearing an orange shirt, which seemed different from the clothes of the deliveryman I saw that day.

I suddenly asked, "Manager, do your delivery staff have to wear work clothes when delivering cakes?"

My sudden jump in thought left the store manager unresponsive. He paused for a few seconds before replying, "Yes, our cake shop is a national chain, and we have regulations. If a delivery driver isn't wearing work clothes when delivering food, and a customer reports this, their salary will be deducted."

I took out my cell phone and checked the surveillance footage at my doorstep the night I ordered the cake.

Just as I was going out to pick up the cake, the store manager paused the surveillance footage.

The store manager pointed out seriously, "Look, this deliveryman isn't wearing our store uniform at all, and he's not even from our store!"

I suddenly felt a chill down my spine.

The person who delivered the cake to me in the surveillance video was a man. He was wearing a baseball cap at the time, so I couldn't see his face clearly. In the surveillance video, he did not leave immediately after delivering the cake. Instead, he stood outside my door for a while and left after a long time.

Am I afraid that someone is watching me?

The store manager was also very angry. After all, this behavior was damaging the reputation of their store.

The store manager immediately said, "I'm going to help you find out who the delivery person was who delivered your cake that day. There must be something fishy going on!"

After some operation by the store manager, my order was transferred out and the deliveryman was a young man in the store.

The store manager called the young man over and asked him directly about the cake delivery that day.

The store manager angrily questioned, "What do the store's rules say? The cake must be delivered to the customer in person! Why did the cake you delivered end up being handed to the customer by a stranger?"

The young man was completely confused. He scratched his head and explained innocently, "I thought the person who received the cake was this lady's boyfriend. I delivered it to the neighborhood, and then I ran into the man in the surveillance video. He told me that it was ordered by his girlfriend and asked me to give it directly to him. He even gave me the exact phone number and name. I checked and made sure there were no mistakes, so I gave him the cake."

The store manager suddenly realized something, looked at me, and said, "So, that man must have deliberately waited there and switched the cakes! He was deliberately trying to harm you!"

I felt a chill in my heart and decisively decided to call the police.

The store manager and I went to the police station to cooperate with the investigation. I handed the surveillance video on my mobile phone to the police. By pausing the surveillance screen, the police could clearly see the man's appearance.
