Chapter 355 Feeding

I paused, avoiding his burning gaze, handed him the spoon, and said a few evasive words.

"You don't have to thank me. You were injured because you were trying to save me. It's our duty to take care of you. I just don't want to owe you a favor."

I tried my best to distance myself from him and let him know that I was not caring for him out of any old friendship.

Lu Zhiyuan's eyes dimmed instantly, and there was an unconcealable loneliness in his eyes.

He suddenly said, "Xiao Shan, I know you must still be blaming and hating me in your heart. I was helpless at the time, and I am sorry for you..."

His explanation was weak and meaningless. It made no sense to me and could not dispel the resentment I felt towards him.

I was indifferent and said calmly, "There's no point in you apologizing to me now, and I don't want to hear your reasons. I've already done what you wished, and you don't have to pretend to be affectionate in front of me. From the moment we divorced, there's no relationship between you and me."

To be precise, when he asked me to sign a letter of understanding as a condition for divorce, I had completely given up on him and wished I had nothing to do with him anymore.

My attitude may be a little heartless, but I have tried my best to give him enough dignity.

I suppressed the resentment in my heart and silently served a bowl of porridge to him.

"Eat, you're a patient now, and I don't want anyone to think I'm bullying a wounded person."

Lu Zhiyuan picked up the spoon with his left hand, shakily scooped up a spoonful of porridge and put it into his mouth.

His injured arm meant he could only eat with his left hand. He couldn't even hold a spoon steadily to eat porridge, let alone scoop vegetables with a spoon.

Seeing Lu Zhiyuan having so much trouble eating, I felt anxious too.

I simply snatched the spoon from his hand, picked up the bowl of porridge in front of him, scooped up a spoonful, blew it to cool it down a little, and brought it to his mouth.

This action was beyond Lu Zhiyuan's expectations. He was stunned for a moment and it took him a while to react before he opened his mouth.

I fed him porridge without saying a word the whole time.

I didn’t know what Lu Zhiyuan was thinking. Perhaps he was afraid of making me unhappy, so he didn’t say anything and just ate his porridge in silence.

Soon, the bowl of porridge was empty. I put down the bowl, picked up the tissue, and subconsciously wiped the corners of his mouth that were stained with rice soup.

Lu Zhiyuan suddenly raised his eyes, staring at me with burning gaze, and suddenly grasped my wrist with his uninjured left hand. His expression seemed to see through my thoughts.

The warmth on my wrist woke me up as if I had received an electric shock, and then I suddenly realized how ambiguous my action of wiping his mouth was.

We are both divorced, so this is really inappropriate and will easily cause misunderstandings.

Lu Zhiyuan's breathing was a little rapid, and his eyes seemed to have something to say.

Just as I was feeling extremely embarrassed, the door of the ward was pushed open and a nurse walked in cautiously.

He introduced himself: "Mr. Lu, Mrs. Lu, hello. I'm the caregiver who's here to take care of Mr. Lu."

When I heard him call me "wife" and his eyes fell on my wrist that was held by Lu Zhiyuan, I was shocked and could only sigh that she might have misunderstood.

I immediately pulled my hand out and was about to deny my relationship with Lu Zhiyuan, but the nurse beat me to it.

He said with a smile, "Mr. Lu and his wife have a really good relationship. But I'm here, so please don't bother yourself. Just tell me if you have any work to do."

As the nurse spoke, he looked around the ward for work to do. He was a quick and hardworking person.

I was too lazy to explain for the moment, so as not to make things worse, and just let him think whatever he wanted.
