Chapter 372 Returning a Favor

I was worried about Yan Meng. He was alone at home, and if he had another severe allergic reaction, there wouldn't be anyone to take him to the hospital.

I reminded Yan Meng, "Allergies are actually quite dangerous. They could even be fatal. Call your assistant or secretary and ask them to come and take care of you."

Yan Meng shook his head and refused directly: "It's time to get off work now. As a boss, I'm not so inhumane as to deprive my employees of their off-get off work time."

I looked at him helplessly: "Isn't this also a matter of priorities?"

Yan Meng remained indifferent and had no intention of contacting his subordinates.

I looked at the empty room and thought about Yan Meng's life experience. I suddenly realized that he had always lived alone and seemed to have no other relatives in the capital.

Out of humanitarianism, I took the initiative to say, "Since you are allergic, I will stay and observe you for a while. If there is no other reaction, I will leave."

Yan Meng chuckled and teased: "What? Are you feeling guilty? Don't worry, even if I really die of an allergic reaction at home today, it has nothing to do with you and your bestie..."

"Don't talk nonsense!" I interrupted Yan Meng and ordered him fiercely, "You should rest and sleep now. I will accompany you in the living room. If you feel uncomfortable, just call me."

I turned and walked out of the room, but stopped at the door.

I emphasized this: "I chose to stay and take care of you because you helped me before and found my biological parents for me. I'll just consider it as repaying you."

I said this just because I don't want Yan Meng to misunderstand my feelings. I can treat him as a friend, but I don't want to have any relationship with him other than friendship.

"Is that so..." Yan Meng suddenly said thoughtfully: "Since you are repaying my favor, then it is not that I obey your orders, but that you obey me in everything, right?"

I turned around and warned him with a sharp look in my eyes: "Don't push your luck!"

Yan Meng disagreed: "I didn't even say anything, so why do you think I'm pushing it too far? You don't think I want to do something to you, do you?"

My face darkened, and for a moment I regretted staying.

Yan Meng chuckled and sat up from the bed. "I just want to take a shower first. I just had an allergic reaction and sweated a lot. My body feels sticky and uncomfortable."

Yan Meng was not at all shy and started taking off his shirt in front of me.

I immediately turned around and walked straight to the living room, ignoring him.

I heard the sound of running water in the bathroom. I sat on the sofa and played with my phone to kill time, thinking, If Lemon has no other symptoms, I can leave in an hour.

Just as I was thinking about it, a message box popped up on the phone screen. It was sent by Qiu Qiu.

"Have you reached home yet?"

I hesitated for a moment, glanced at Yan Meng's empty room, and replied, "We're here."

I didn't tell Qiu Qiu that I was with Yan Meng because I didn't want to cause unnecessary misunderstandings.

Qiu Qiu, however, started talking in chatter mode, sending a bunch of messages. He seemed to feel that it was not enough, so he made a video call directly.

The sudden ringing of the phone startled me and I hung up in a hurry.

Qiu Qiu has been to my apartment. As long as I connect the video and let her see the background where I am, she will find out that I lied.

After being rejected by me, Qiu Qiu sent me a series of question marks and a heartbroken expression.

"Shanshan, you didn't answer my call. Friendship is indeed fragile."
