Chapter 395 Adoption Certificate

I shook off the random thoughts in my mind. No matter if I chose it on purpose or brought it by chance, at least Tang Tianxiang could remember me. That was enough. I didn't ask for anything else.

I sat up, put the bracelet back in the box, and threw the box into the drawer without intending to wear it.

The next day, I was woken up by the alarm clock. I took a look at the reminder on the alarm clock and suddenly remembered that I had made an appointment with Yan Meng.

I got up to wash up, but found that Yan Meng's car was already parked in front of the villa gate.

I couldn't help but be surprised. Why did he come so early?

I hurried downstairs. Everyone else in the house was still asleep. I didn't even have time to eat breakfast and just walked out.

Yan Meng was standing next to the car. When he saw me, he didn't seem annoyed at all. Instead, he glanced at his watch and teased me with a smile: "You're ten minutes earlier than the agreed time. You're really quick."

I glared at him helplessly. "Why are you here so early? How long have you been waiting outside?"

"It's only half an hour. I was worried about traffic jams and didn't want you to waste time waiting for me, so I left early."

Yan Meng opened the passenger door for me and said, "Get in the car. The journey is a bit long and we have to leave early."

As Yan Meng said, it took us a full hour and a half to drive to our destination.

Looking at the low houses around, this place looks more like a town.

Yan Meng introduced me, “This town is called Qinglin Town. Your adoption certificate was issued from here.”

Yan Meng unbuckled my seatbelt and urged me to get out of the car: "Let's go, I'll take you to the neighborhood committee and take a look. Maybe we can find something."

I pushed open the car door and got out, then followed Yan Meng into the town. Looking at the surrounding environment, I felt unfamiliar.

As if guessing what I was thinking, Yan Meng smiled helplessly and said, "Don't look around. You were less than two years old at the time. Even a child prodigy wouldn't have any memories, right? Besides, the town has been constantly renovated and changed over the years. It's no longer what it used to be."

What Yan Meng said made sense. I stopped feeling conflicted and went to the neighborhood committee with him.

Yan Meng explained the purpose of our visit to the neighborhood committee staff. When they learned that I was adopted, the staff looked me up and down with an embarrassed look on their faces.

"It's been over 20 years, and the person who handled the adoption certificate has retired. We might be able to help you check the electronic database here, but the information is limited, so I'm afraid we won't be able to find much."

After all, it happened more than 20 years ago. At that time, many things were recorded in paper form and not all were recorded in computers. Paper records are easy to lose and difficult to check.

Despite this, I thanked you again and again: "Thank you so much for your help, no matter whether we can find it or not."

The current staff helped us review the files. The information in the files was incomplete and was exactly the same as what was written on the adoption certificate.

The only difference is that it says I was adopted in June 1997.

Yan Meng and I looked at each other, and we probably had the same confusion in our hearts.

This was only one month after I was taken away by the nanny and lost.

Excluding the time it took the Lan family to handle these tedious adoption procedures, it means that I was adopted not long after I left the Tang family.
