Chen Zhe opened the door of the conference room and made a "please" gesture at the door.
I walked in and heard Chen Zhe stopping Gu Rui.
I turned around and saw Chen Zhe saying to Gu Rui with an apologetic look on his face: "I'm sorry, you can't go in."
I frowned slightly and explained, "Gu Rui is my assistant. I wanted him to work with me on this project, so I brought him back."
Chen Zhe gave me an apologetic smile. "Boss Lan, it's not that I don't give you face, but this project involves some of our company's private technological information, so I can only communicate with you individually."
Since that’s the case, I won’t make things difficult for Chen Zhe anymore.
I waved to Gu Rui and comforted him: "Then you and Chen Zhe go wait outside first. I will come to find you after the meeting."
Chen Zhe also followed my words and said, "I can take him to understand the project, don't worry, Mr. Lan."
Gu Rui did not show any displeasure. He politely said to Chen Zhe, "Sorry for the trouble," and then left with him.
I was sitting alone in the huge conference room, and I felt that it was particularly empty.
I looked down at the documents in my hand when the door of the conference room was suddenly pushed open.
I raised my head almost subconsciously, and my eyes met with Lu Zhiyuan who had just walked in.
Out of politeness, I stood up and watched him sit down opposite me.
I glanced down at the watch on my wrist and half-jokingly eased the awkward atmosphere between us: "Mr. Lu is really punctual. The time is just right."
Lu Zhiyuan's expression was serious, and he stared at me with a cold gaze. He asked, "The last time you and Yan Meng went to Qinglin Town, was it to investigate the incident of you being abducted?"
The polite smile on my lips suddenly froze, and my eyes suddenly became sharp.
I frowned unhappily: "Are you investigating me?"
Lu Zhiyuan's behavior annoyed me. He and I were divorced, and I didn't want him to interfere in my personal affairs. But I repeatedly told him that, and he still investigated me.
"Answer me, okay?" Lu Zhiyuan stubbornly wanted an answer.
I looked up coldly, not trying to hide the displeasure in my tone.
"Mr. Lu, I came here today to discuss work with you, not to discuss personal matters. Besides, I've already said that I don't need you to interfere in my personal affairs, and I hope you won't cross the line."
My words made Lu Zhiyuan frown. "Crossing the line? Xiaoshan, I'm not doing this to harm you. I'm doing this to help you."
I sneered and didn't believe what he said.
"So you called me to a meeting today, it wasn't about the project at all. You tricked me into coming here on business, and then you're questioning me about my personal matters?" My patience was running low. "Lu Zhiyuan, what exactly are you trying to achieve by going through all this trouble?"
Lu Zhiyuan stared at me with a gloomy expression, but did not explain.
I suddenly felt disappointed and ridiculous. I actually still hoped that he would give me an explanation.
"I'm tired, and I really don't want to cooperate with your childish and rude behavior anymore."
