In the evening, it was clearly past dinner time, but the meal was still not served.
Tang Jun looked towards the kitchen curiously and saw that the food had already been prepared there.
She asked Grandpa Ming in confusion: "Grandpa, the kitchen has already prepared the dishes, why haven't we started eating yet?"
"There's still someone in our family who hasn't come back yet. We'll have dinner when he comes back." Grandpa Ming answered patiently.
Tang Jun and I were both confused and looked at the people in the living room. Grandpa, grandma and Mingsi were all there, so there was no one missing.
I asked tentatively, "Are there any guests coming to your house?"
Madam Ming smiled and took my hand. "They're not guests, they're family. Your uncle Mingyuan will be home tonight."
"Uncle Mingyuan!" Tang Jun suddenly exclaimed in surprise, "Uncle Mingyuan is actually willing to return to China?!"
Seeing how startled she was, I guessed that Uncle Mingyuan had been abroad for many years and hadn't returned.
Madam Ming was about to say something when she heard Uncle Liu shout in surprise—
"Master Mingyuan is back!"
I stood up, and Mingsi also helped Madam Ming stand up.
Madam Ming couldn't wait to take two steps forward, muttering, "My Xiaoyuan is back?"
A man walked in dragging a suitcase and smiled faintly at Old Madam Ming: "Mom, I'm back."
"Xiaoyuan!" Old Mrs. Ming couldn't wait to walk to Mingyuan's side. She had difficulty walking and almost fell down, but fortunately Mingyuan supported her in time.
Old Madam Ming looked Mingyuan up and down, then reached out and stroked his cheek, her eyes red with distress: "Xiaoyuan, why are you so thin again?"
This was the first time I met this uncle whom I had never met before.
Previously at the family reunion party, I heard Mingsi mention that she had a younger brother named Mingyuan.
I only knew that he was much younger than Mingsi, probably in his thirties, but looking at the person in front of me, how could he look like he was in his thirties? He looked like a male college student in his early twenties.
Mingyuan is tall, with handsome and bright features, clear facial contours and a distinct jawline. He is a very handsome man.
However, except when facing Madam Ming, his eyes were obviously cold when he looked at me and Tang Jun, and he didn't look easy to get along with.
Mr. Ming was afraid that Mrs. Ming would get too excited, so he pulled her aside and urged her, "Don't get sentimental here. The food is ready. Mingyuan has come all the way back, so let's eat first."
Only then did Old Madam Ming let Mingyuan go.
Mingyuan's eyes fell on me. After sizing me up, he raised his lips in a mocking tone, "Are you my niece who has a terrible eye for men?"
I was slightly stunned. Even this uncle who lives far away abroad knows about the bloody affair between Lu Zhiyuan and me?
Tang Jun was gloating on the side, looking like he was enjoying the show.
Old Master Ming tutted his words and frowned at Mingyuan: "Mingyuan, you are an uncle after all, how can you say such things about your niece!"
"It's okay, Grandpa. Uncle is right, my taste is indeed not very good." I smiled and looked up at Mingyuan without showing any weakness. "But in my eyes, uncle is a good man with both talent and beauty."
There was a hint of sarcasm in my words. It was him who said in public that I had poor taste.
Madam Ming was amused by my words and deliberately asked Mingyuan, "Your niece is praising you for your talent and beauty. Do you think she has good taste or bad?"
Mingyuan snorted coldly and ignored me. He turned around and ordered the servant: "Go and pick up the little cutie in my car."
