Chapter 516: Responsible to the End

Lu Zhiyuan never wanted his family to worry about him, so he naturally wouldn't tell his parents about his injury.

But he didn't have many friends in Haicheng, and he didn't want to make a big fuss and ask his assistant to rush over from Beijing, so he could only think of me.

Lu Zhiyuan discussed with me: "I'm injured and the doctor won't let me move around, so I'd like you to come and help me with the hospitalization procedures."

To handle the formalities, one has to run around everywhere, issue invoices and pay fees, which is indeed a bit tiring for a wounded person like Lu Zhiyuan.

I agreed decisively: "Okay, leave it to me."

No matter what, he was injured because of me, so I naturally have no choice but to do this little favor.

After helping Lu Zhiyuan complete the hospitalization procedures, I had a pile of orders in my hands.

As soon as I pushed the door and walked into the ward, I saw Lu Zhiyuan about to get out of bed.

"Hey, don't move." I hurried forward to stop him, supported him, and pushed him back to the bed. "The doctor said it's best for you to rest in bed for the next two days and don't move around. This will help the wound heal."

Lu Zhiyuan smiled helplessly and explained to me, "I just wanted to open the window. This room is a bit stuffy."

"I'll go open it."

I walked to the window, opened it, and went back to Lu Zhiyuan, putting all the lists in my hand into the drawer of the bedside table.

"I've already taken care of all the hospitalization procedures for you. You'll have a few more tests to complete over the next two days before you can be discharged. I'll come with you tomorrow to get the tests, and I'll also pick up the blood test form for you..."

Listening to me chattering about the arrangements for the next two days, Lu Zhiyuan's mouth corners slightly raised, and he looked serious. He nodded in response to whatever I said.

I felt a little uncomfortable with his sudden obedience.

The smile on Lu Zhiyuan's lips deepened: "I suddenly feel very happy that you care about me."

"I'm not concerned about you. I just don't want to owe you a favor." I poured a glass of water and handed it to him. "There are no tests to be done today, so just rest in the ward. I'll come back tomorrow."

I turned to leave, but he suddenly called me.

"Xiaoshan!"

I turned back suspiciously: "Anything else?"

Lu Zhiyuan paused, wanting to speak but hesitant. After two seconds of silence, he said softly, "Thank you."

I shrugged, "You don't need to thank me. After all, you took the knife for me. I will be responsible for you to the end."

Hearing my answer, Lu Zhiyuan's eyes showed a bit of loneliness, and the smile on the corner of his mouth also became a bit sour.

Did I say something wrong to make him unhappy?

I didn't go into it further, but just told him not to walk around and to have a good rest, and then left the hospital.

In the evening, when I saw the nutritious soup being stewed in the kitchen, I couldn’t help but think of Lu Zhiyuan. He was stabbed and lost a lot of blood, so he also needed some nourishment.

"Uncle Liu, please buy some blood-boosting ingredients tomorrow morning and ask the kitchen to make some soup."

When the housekeeper, Uncle Liu, heard my order, he instinctively nodded in agreement. But then he suddenly realized something, looked me up and down, and asked with concern, "Miss Xiaoshan, have you been lacking in energy and blood recently?"

"Not me. I'm taking him to the hospital to visit a friend."

Uncle Liu finally felt relieved and agreed immediately.

After breakfast the next day, I changed my clothes and prepared to go out. Just as I was about to go to the kitchen to ask if the soup was ready, Mingsi stopped me.

"Xiao Shan, the soup you want is here."

I turned around and saw Mingsi holding a soup bowl in his hand with a slightly serious expression.
