Chapter 38 Sleeping Together
Shang Yuze put her on the bed, pulled the quilt over her, and then called the family doctor.
While waiting for the doctor to come, Shang Yuze used his mobile phone to search for some specific matters about menstruation on Baidu, and called someone to buy warming patches and hot water bottles, and also asked someone to make brown sugar ginger tea.
The doctor came hurriedly carrying a medicine box.
Gu Qingyue lay in Shang Yuze's arms. The cramps in her abdomen became more and more severe. She closed her eyes tightly.
Shang Yuze put his arm around Gu Qingyue and asked the doctor, "How is it?"
After the examination, the doctor said, "It's dysmenorrhea. It's cold now, and you caught a cold. The problem is not serious. Get some rest. In the future, don't drink cold drinks or touch cold water for a week beforehand."
He explained some precautions and prescribed some medicine before leaving.
Gu Qingyue was in so much pain that she was completely dazed. In a trance, she heard a big hand reaching into the quilt and putting something on her lower abdomen.
Through a thin layer of pajamas, a warm feeling wrapped around her lower abdomen, and the unbearable pain began to ease.
Gu Qingyue's tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and her pale lips regained a bit of redness.
She opened her eyes with difficulty, and what she saw was the handsome face of the man.
The light fell from above his head, outlining his facial features perfectly. His eyebrows were as black as swords, his eyes were narrow and long, and the upturned corners of his eyes formed a beautiful streamline. He had very long eyelashes and thin, rosy lips.
The light cast a fascinating shadow on him, and it seemed as if there was light on him too.
Shang Yuze fed the medicine to her lips: "Take the medicine first."
Gu Qingyue took the medicine obediently and drank half a glass of water from his hand.
Shang Yuze placed the pillow behind her so that she could lean back more comfortably: "Are you feeling better?"
"Much better." Gu Qingyue's voice was hoarse, and only then did she notice the man's clothes.
He was wearing smoky gray pajamas with a slightly open collar, revealing a large area of cool white skin, his collarbone was delicate and three-dimensional, and his Adam's apple was sexy.
Somehow, Gu Qingyue's mind suddenly popped up the scene where she bit Shang Yuze's collarbone.
Shang Yuze looked over and met her eyes. Gu Qingyue suddenly felt a flush on her face.
He sat on the edge of the bed, holding the bottom of the bowl with his bony fingers, and scooped a spoonful of brown sugar ginger water to her mouth.
"I can drink it myself." Gu Qingyue was not used to being fed, so she reached out to take the bowl from his hand.
Shang Yuze dodged her hand: "Don't move, have you forgotten what the doctor said just now?"
This question successfully confused Gu Qingyue. She had a terrible stomachache just now and didn't hear what the doctor said at all.
She lowered her eyes to look at the brown sugar ginger water in front of her, opened her mouth and drank it. The spicy taste filled her mouth and almost made her vomit.
Her little face wrinkled up: "It's so disgusting, can I not drink it?"
Her voice is soft and sounds like she is acting coquettishly.
Shang Yuze said in a serious tone: "No."
Gu Qingyue blinked her big watery eyes. Her glass-colored pupils were clean and clear, with a hazy mist in her eyes, making her look pitiful.
Shang Yuze's heart had long been softened, but thinking of her body, he still said in a hard tone: "It's no use looking at me."
Gu Qingyue was completely helpless. This man had such a cruel heart. She looked at the brown sugar ginger water in the bowl with a bitter and resentful look and said, "Then I'll drink it all in one go before it gets too hot. I really can't drink it spoonful by spoonful."
Shang Yuze put the bowl on the bedside table next to him.
Neither of them spoke, and the atmosphere was eerily quiet.
Apart from the last time when they took Chinese medicine, this was the first time the two of them stayed together late at night.
Gu Qingyue raised her eyes slightly. The man's eyebrows were calm, and his handsome face was as light and dark as an ink painting.
She was the first to break the silence: "Why aren't you asleep yet?"
Shang Yuze's sexy Adam's apple rose and fell as he spoke: "I just came back not long ago and just finished taking a shower."
Hearing this, Gu Qingyue hurriedly said, "I'm fine, you go and rest."
Shang Yuze didn't move: "I'm worried about you like this. I'll leave after you fall asleep."
Gu Qingyue lowered her eyes slightly and said in a muffled voice: "I can do it myself."
She had gotten through it on her own before.
"What would you have done if I hadn't seen it just now? Now is not the time to be showing off." Although Shang Yuze's voice was flat, his words revealed an unquestionable strength.
Gu Qingyue blinked her sore eyes.
In fact, she has become accustomed to relying on herself for everything, because there was no one behind her before.
So when she had a stomachache, her first reaction was to find medicine herself.
Shang Yuze felt very distressed when he saw her reaction.
She had lived a life of neglect and no one cared about her for twenty years, and those scars could not be healed overnight.
Behind being too sensible and independent are all unknown sorrows. The price of being forced to grow up is scars all over the body and a broken heart.
Shang Yuze collected his thoughts in a few breaths. He touched the bowl of noodles with his hand and found it was just the right temperature. He brought the bowl back to her and said, "It's not hot anymore. Drink it."
Gu Qingyue's face immediately fell. She held her breath and swallowed the brown sugar ginger water whole with an expression of being ready to die.
Shang Yuze took the bowl from her hand and handed her the cup of warm water that had already been poured in it.
Gu Qingyue gulped down half a glass of water, finally diluting the spiciness in her mouth. She complained, "It's so unpalatable! Who invented this thing?"
Shang Yuze took the cup from her hand and placed it on the bedside table, then helped her lie down and carefully tucked the quilt in for her.
The main lights were turned off, leaving only the night light on the bedside table emitting a faint glow in the darkness.
The space seemed to be split into two halves, with endless darkness behind them, but this night light created a circle of light for the two of them.
Shang Yuze patted her gently through the quilt, just like coaxing a child: "Go to sleep."
Gu Qingyue's hands clutched the quilt, with most of her face buried in it, revealing a pair of shy eyes. She hesitated and said, "How about we sleep together tonight?"
It was the middle of the night, and Shang Yuze was tired after another day. She felt a little reluctant to let him watch over her while she slept.
Shang Yuze's eyes were calm, and his dark phoenix eyes were even thicker and deeper than the night behind him.
Gu Qingyue couldn't understand his thoughts and said hurriedly: "If you think it's not possible..."
"Forget it." The three words were not even uttered.
"Okay." His voice fell, especially clear in the quiet night.
Gu Qingyue was stunned. By the time she reacted, Shang Yuze had already thrown the giant panda on her bed onto the stool at the end of the bed, turned off the bedside lamp, lifted the quilt, and lay down beside her.
A series of actions are completed in one go.
Gu Qingyue frowned, feeling that something was not right.
It felt like Shang Yuze had been waiting for these words.
