Chapter 11 "Bearing the responsibility and apologizing" (Part 1)
The gate of the prefect's mansion was easy to enter. Yu Fei revealed her identity as Jing Cang's savior, and the servants respectfully invited her in. However, his yard was surrounded by guards so densely packed that it looked like an iron barrel.
She explained her purpose to a man, and that man called a leader.
Yu Fei looked at the man's attire and thought he looked like Jing Cang's personal bodyguard Huo Dao.
Huo Dao said, "Miss Yu, please go back. My master does not want to see guests."
"Oh." Yu Fei remained calm and asked knowingly, "You don't want to see guests, or you don't want to see me?"
Upon hearing this, Huo Dao's face darkened even darker than the black clothes he was wearing, as if he really disliked her.
"It is a noble virtue to know one's own limitations." He paused for a moment, "Miss Yu, if you have any urgent matters, just tell me directly, and I will pass on the message to my master."
Yu Fei didn't take it seriously and said with a smile, "Will you also tell me about the concubine's affairs?"
Without waiting for Huo Dao to change his expression, she looked up at the bright moon hanging in the sky and said lightly: "As expected, the hierarchy between scholars, farmers, merchants and artisans is as high as the sky. When your master needs me, he hugs me and kisses me. When he doesn't need me, he refuses to see me and finds a servant to send me away..."
As he spoke, he glanced towards the dormitory in the courtyard with resentment, as if he was looking for the ungrateful man he was talking about.
As soon as these words were spoken, the guards on both sides bowed their heads, as if they wanted to plug their ears and not listen to a single private word from the prince.
"Miss Yu, please stop slandering others..."
"Whether I am talking nonsense or not, you can go ask your master yourself." Yu Fei straightened his back and spoke in a righteous and confident tone.
Huo Dao was hesitant.
The woman in front of him was indeed a rare beauty with a slender figure. If the prince did not know her character, he might be seduced by her. When he told the prince about the woman's past misdeeds, the prince was also very angry.
Could there be something going on between the two of them?
While he was hesitating, he suddenly heard a cold and angry shout from the bedroom door: "Let her get out of here!"
Huo Dao shuddered. It seemed that there was something wrong. The prince was a calm person and rarely lost his composure.
"Miss Yu, please come in."
His attitude is better than before.
Yu Fei walked into the room calmly and closed the door, but without any greeting, he tilted his body and fell to the ground.
"What are you doing?"
Jing Cang glared at her angrily.
"Didn't you tell me to get in?" Yu Fei blinked and said obediently, hugging her knees with her hands, as if she really wanted to get out.
Jing Cang was almost amused by her shamelessness: "You can understand what people say now. Was what you just did human work?"
It was clearly her who teased and flirted with him many times, but she turned the tables and slandered him as a mean person who harmed others for his own benefit.
"Brother, if I didn't say that, would you have come to see me?" Yu Fei said that Gun was just pretending, and stood up and spread his hands, saying innocently, "I wasn't wrong, we kissed and hugged, and you even touched me..."
"Shut up!" Jing Cang shouted, staring at her for a while, and said firmly, "You were not drunk that night."
"No, no, no, I'm drunk." Yu Fei shook his head like a wave drum. "I only remembered some fragments after I woke up. I also heard from Dingxiang that you rushed out of my room angrily, as if I had taken possession of you..."
Looking at Jing Cang's face which was darker than the night outside, she swallowed the word "cheap" and pointed behind her, "I came here specially to 'beg you to apologize' tonight."
Jing Cang glanced at her. She was wearing a green cape on her back, which perfectly matched the pink dress in front of her. Her black hair was flowing freely without any jewelry. Under the bright light, she looked like a beautiful and blooming lotus.
Hibiscus changes color three times a day: white in the morning, pink in the afternoon, purple in the evening. She is as fickle as the flower, and even more hypocritical.
He didn't want to know what she was up to. He took a sip of tea and said coldly, "When you walk among the common people, you're bound to run into an ignorant cat or dog. It's nothing strange to get bitten by one." He put down the teacup heavily and said, "Miss Yu, please go back."
After regaining his identity, he put on airs, and spoke in a veiled and intimate way, treating her as if she had been bitten by a beast. After hearing this, Yu Fei wanted to slap his cold and arrogant face.
She sighed and vented herself. Jing Cang must have known about the original owner's bad deeds and felt very ashamed. She came here today to clear her name and save her reputation, not to add fuel to his anger.
Yu Fei's eyes widened, and she pretended to be incredulous. She secretly pinched her palms, tears fell, and she said resentfully: "Brother, did you believe some rumors outside and have some misunderstanding of me?"
Jing Cang saw that she looked even more wronged than Dou E, and he chuckled, but it was a sneer: "Miss Yu, 'spending thousands of gold in a prostitute's house, flirting with a decent man in the street', your reputation is well known to everyone in Shu County, I'm afraid it's hard to mistake you for being wronged."
He glanced at her, as if she were a weed or an ant, "Also, don't call me brother. The distinction between scholars, farmers, merchants and artisans is as high as the sky."
The implication is that she doesn't deserve it.
Seeing that he clearly hated her attitude, Yu Fei thought that it would not be enough to just talk, he had to provide some real evidence.
She walked closer to him and said stubbornly: "Brother, I was wronged, I am innocent..."
Jing Cang saw her getting closer and closer, and was afraid that she would do something indecent to him again like she did that night when she was drunk, so he slammed the table and said, "Do whatever you want, it has nothing to do with me."
"Please go back!"
Yu Fei seemed not to hear him chasing the guest away. She leaned forward and knelt at his feet. She raised her bare arm and defended herself anxiously, "Brother, I am really innocent. I just came of age last month, and I even had the auspicious ointment..." She pointed to a red mole on her left arm.
He was not deceived by this, the original owner was a whore... and so was she.
Jing Cang lowered his head and saw the bright red stain on Yu Fei's snow-white skin, like the blood stains left on a white handkerchief by a newlywed woman.
It is indeed a symbol of chastity.
Just by seeing this, he felt as if he had peeked into her entire body without being noticed. It was as if a bug was crawling through his heart, and the bug even wanted to bite off the thing on her arm...
He brushed her off indifferently and repeated, "It has nothing to do with me."
