Chapter 178

Chapter 178

The days passed quietly like this. Wang Jiazhi would usually buy food for a few days and then stay at home for three or four days. In fact, she spent most of her time lying in bed, thinking about random things. When she was tired of crying, she would fall asleep, wake up, cry again, and then fall asleep again.

In the mornings, she leaned against the window to gaze at the scenery outside. The apricot blossoms had faded, green leaves had sprouted, and in a few days, the trees would be full of greenery and fruits. However, the apricot branch in her room was still in bloom. Her world was forever isolated from the outside world.

The warm sunlight on her body made her feel even more uncomfortable.

They also enjoyed basking in the sun together, but the sun they basked in came through the window, through the double layers of curtains, and then shone on them.

When the sun was shining, she would lie in his arms and bask in the sun with him. This was the only sun they could bask in together. But she felt warm and at ease, listening to his heartbeat, her body warm and comfortable. She always felt drowsy at this time, but she couldn't bear to fall asleep like that, as she would not be able to feel anything.

Only now did she realize that even sleeping was different. Back then, she felt peaceful when she slept, and she felt calm and satisfied when she woke up. Now, she sleeps all day in a daze, and when she does, she only feels more tired and sad.

Wang Jiazhi realized that every time she said goodbye to him, it was a terrible purgatory.

Her first time with him was without feelings, but it was all wasted. It wasn't just this one thing, but she realized she'd been tricked by that group. Late at night, the mountain road was pitch black, deserted, and she ran until dawn. During those days, she lived like a walking corpse, her life over.

The second time we separated was the same as now, except that I could still go to school at that time and had things to distract me.

There is no way this third time.

She had forgotten that she hadn't left the house for three days. Just as she was lost in thought, someone knocked on the door. It was the aunt from the second floor again.

After opening the door, the woman came in holding two tin boxes and said, "Do you want any? They say they're imported goods."

A box of sandwich cookies and a box of coffee.

Wang Jiazhi didn't know how much these two boxes were worth, but she really liked these assorted sandwich cookies.

After hearing the price from the aunt, it’s not very expensive.

She wanted to buy some, but there really weren't any Western pastries here at the intersection of town and country. They were just some simple pastries, and they tasted terrible. But then she thought, "I can't be too conspicuous. Buying food at the black market is already very conspicuous."

She thought, why not hint to this aunt that she is someone's concubine? After all, she is indeed the case. She was abandoned, but she has money. After living a good life, it is reasonable for her to continue to spend lavishly and eat up all the money she has left after being abandoned.

This would cause more discussion, so she pretended not to be interested and refused to buy it.

The aunt was obviously disappointed and kept urging her to buy it.

"They say it can't be sold here. What will we do if no one buys it?"

From her words, she probably guessed that these things were probably obtained illegally from customs.

It seemed that the aunt was determined to sell the product, so Wang Jiazhi had no choice but to buy it.

After the aunt left, she opened the box of cookies and ate one, which was delicious. Then she closed the lid and couldn't eat any more.

I made soup from a chicken and gave some away to others, but I couldn't finish it in three days.

The two boxes were beautiful. The cookie box was round, with a little white cat on top. Behind it was a candy house, with butter- and chocolate-colored square cookies for the walls, two chocolate bars for the roof, and the house studded with colorful candies. The square coffee box had six sides, a royal blue background, and a flower on one side. She held the box and looked at the flowers on each side: a white amaryllis, two white musk lilies, a white rose, a white fritillaria, a white hollyhock, and a white peony.

She remembered that she once saw a biscuit jar in a store. It was also the same color, but round, with several kinds of golden branches of flowers painted on it. Knowing that there were biscuits in the shapes of various flowers inside, she wanted to buy it even more.

When they got home, she asked him to count with her how many kinds of flowers there were. He never thought she was childish, and later he saw a box of animal crackers and bought some to count the animals with her.

Wang Jiazhi hugged the biscuit barrel and cried.
