Chapter 197

Chapter 197

She was wearing a pure white shirt with white orchid prints, her hair was loose and a white orchid was pinned on her head. She was holding a newspaper in her hand and standing timidly at the door.

A very fair-skinned boy wearing black-framed glasses came over and said with a smile, "Who are you looking for?"

"Excuse me, is Mr. Xiao Zhou here?"

"Oh, he is writing a manuscript. Please come with me."

She followed the boy nervously into the house, a large living room with a large rectangular table, like the kind used for conferences. On it lay stationery like ink, calipers, staplers, and wire mesh boxes. Six or seven chairs were scattered on either side of the table, which practically took up the entire space.

In one corner of the room is a simple bookshelf with a small bookshelf of old books and a lot of newspapers. In the other corner is a drinking corner with three thermoses on a small table.

A girl in a white shirt and a bright red skirt is watering the azaleas on the windowsill. She has a pretty face and curly hair draped over her shoulders.

Another girl wearing a light yellow and black floral cheongsam was writing something at the table. She had delicate features and a pair of charming and long eyes.

Wang Jiazhi looked at them and felt a little uneasy.

The boy opened the door of a room, looked inside, and said, "Huh? Didn't Lan Jie come to talk to you about something?"

"What's wrong?"

"Is there a girl looking for him?"

I only heard the person in the room shout in a sarcastic voice: "Team leader, there's a girl looking for you!"

The door of a small room opened, and he came out in a white shirt and light grey trousers, looking like he hadn't slept all night.

"Who is looking for me..."

As he spoke, he had already reached her and saw her standing there, looking shy and at a loss.

She tried to keep her composure and not speak out of turn.

"Hello, I came to see you because I read your article."

"You are too kind. My writing is not worthy of scrutiny."

The boy saw that they were both shy and lowered their heads, not daring to look at each other, and were being so polite that it was ridiculous. He laughed and said, "We are all young people, why are you two talking so politely like old people?"

Both of them laughed awkwardly.

He and she sat down at the other corner of the table, and the boy brought tea.

He smiled and said, "Is there anything I can do for you?"

"I... I know about your cause, and I want to do something too. I wonder if I can join you. I also write some things, of course, just some literary and historical commentary, new story adaptations, etc. I'm not very good at writing current affairs commentary yet, but I can learn."

As she spoke, she took out several of her articles from her canvas handbag and began to read.

At this time, the door of the room where they had just called people opened. A boy went past them to pour water. When he came back, he said, "Team leader, are you trying to imitate Guo Jia and Song Yu and start applying spices on your body?"

He continued to look at the manuscript in his hand, without looking up at him, and smiled, "The jasmine flowers in my room have bloomed. The room is too small, and the fragrance of the flowers has stained me."

"drink!"

The man looked at her again deliberately.

When she saw the man's appearance, she exclaimed in her heart, "Hah!"

He quickly finished one article and was not in a hurry to read the second one. He said, "The writing style is truly extraordinary, and the insights are profound. It's beyond the reach of someone your age."

She laughed, "As if you were much older than me."

"I didn't mean anything else. I'm a snake."

"I'm a sheep."

"Then I am two years older."

After a moment of silence, he smiled and said, "You are welcome to join us, but life here is very hard. I wonder if you would mind."

"Of course not. I just want to do what I can. I'm not afraid of hardship. Although my savings are not much, I am willing to hand over all of them to support the activities."

By this time, everyone else in the room had stopped what they were doing and was listening to them.

"Okay then. I'll report this to my superiors and will let you know as soon as possible if possible. I wonder if it would be convenient for you to leave your contact information."

"Of course."

Wang Jiazhi was very happy. No matter what, he did not reject her immediately.

She wrote down her phone number and address for him.

He smiled and said, "I would like to keep the remaining two articles and read them carefully. I wonder if that's okay with me."

"Of course, please don't laugh at me."

When she finally stood up, she realized everyone was looking at her with surprise. This made her panic. Did she do something wrong or say something wrong? Then they might not welcome her.

He also sensed that the atmosphere was not right and said with a smile, "It's nothing. I'll take you out."

I heard the man hum again while holding the cup of water.

This again aroused Wang Jiazhi's anger.

When she passed by the man, she deliberately used the wooden handle of her handbag to knock his water cup away. The cup was filled with very hot water that had just been poured from the thermos.

"Ah!" The man was wearing thin cloth shoes and hot water spilled onto his feet.

"I'm so sorry, it's all my fault for not paying attention. I'm so sorry!"

He hurriedly said, "It's because the aisle is too narrow. Why would he care?"

The man muttered, "It's going to burn you!"

"I didn't mean to do that. Don't scare the girl."

He actually walked her downstairs and even to the door. After walking a distance, she looked back and saw that he was still standing there.
