"Knock, knock, knock!" Early in the morning, the rapid knocking sounds rang out at the gate of the Song family like a death warrant, one louder than the other.
Mother Song was thinking, "Who is this?" She knocked on the door so urgently, and hurried over to open it, only to see a man she had never seen before standing outside, panting and sweating profusely.
"You... who are you?" Song's mother asked doubtfully, looking up and down at the stranger in front of her.
"Aunt Song, I'm from Yunxi Village. My name is Chen Daniu. Please ask Chen Xiaoru to go back and take a look. Something big has happened in her family!" Chen Daniu said breathlessly, looking anxious, with beads of sweat on his forehead rolling down his cheeks.
"Ah? What happened?" When Song's mother heard this, her heart tightened and she asked hurriedly.
"Her stepmother and Wang Mazi from the village are dead. Please ask Chen Xiaoru to go back and deal with this matter. I... I'll leave first." After Chen Daniu finished speaking, he turned around and ran away. It seemed that he had something urgent to do and he didn't even have time to catch his breath.
"Okay, I'll go call someone now!" Song's mother responded, turned around and ran to Chen Xiaoru's room. She was very nervous, not knowing what big thing had happened.
Chen Daniu left without looking back.
Song's mother came to the door of the couple's room and raised her hand to knock on the door "dong dong dong", the sound was quick and loud.
Song Zhe was startled awake by a knock on the door. He looked down at Chen Xiaoru, who was sleeping soundly in his arms, a happy smile on his face. He gently kissed her smooth forehead and then carefully pulled his arm out from under her neck, fearing to wake the beautiful woman in his arms. He put on his clothes, tiptoed to the door, and opened it a crack.
"Mom, what's wrong so early?" Song Zhe asked in a low voice, afraid of waking up Chen Xiaoru who was still sleeping.
"Zhe'er, quickly wake up Xiaoru. Something big happened at the Chen family. Her stepmother and Wang Mazi are dead!" Mother Song said solemnly, with a hint of anxiety in her tone that was hard to conceal.
"What's going on?" Song Zhe was shocked, frowned, and asked hurriedly.
"I... I'm not sure either. You guys wait and see. Although Xiaoru was bought by us, mother has never felt this way." Mother Song sighed and said with a complicated look in her eyes.
"Okay, I'll go call her." After Song Zhe finished speaking, he gently closed the door, turned back to the bed, and looked at the person who was still sleeping soundly, with a surge of tenderness in his heart.
He leaned over, went close to Chen Xiaoru's ear, and whispered, "Xiaoru, Xiaoru, wake up." There was a hint of imperceptible doting in his voice.
Chen Xiaoru turned over, buried her head in the quilt, and muttered: "Well, don't make noise, I'm so sleepy..." Her voice was soft and full of sleepiness.
Seeing this, Song Zhe smiled helplessly, took off his shoes and lay back on the bed, gently holding her in his arms, and whispered in her ear: "Xiao Ru, wake up, your stepmother is dead, let's go over and see."
"Well, if he's dead, then he's dead! Don't make a noise, I'm so sleepy..." Chen Xiaoru said in a daze, without even opening her eyes, obviously not fully awake from her sleep.
Song Zhe looked at her dazed expression, his heart itching as if being gently tickled by a feather. He knew she had been tormented by him last night, and he felt both distressed and loving. He lowered his head and gently kissed her lips, tenderly and lovingly.
Chen Xiaoru was awakened by the sudden kiss. She was a little confused at first, but soon she felt his passionate affection, slowly responded to him, and her hands unconsciously wrapped around his neck.
After a long while, Song Zhe reluctantly let her go. Looking at her blushing cheeks, he whispered, "Are you awake now?" There was a hint of teasing in his voice.
"Husband, you are bad..." Chen Xiaoru glared at him coquettishly, but her eyes were full of tenderness and affection, without any hint of blame.
"If time allowed, I would really want to do something worse." Song Zhe said, his eyes became deep, as if he wanted to swallow her whole.
Chen Xiaoru's heartbeat quickened when he looked at her, and her cheeks turned even redder. She quickly changed the subject: "Husband, what did you just say happened?"
"Your stepmother and Wang Mazi are dead." Song Zhe restrained the lust in his eyes and said seriously.
"What? How could my stepmother die?" Chen Xiaoru was shocked and completely sober, her eyes full of confusion and shock.
"I don't know. Let's get up and take a look." Song Zhe said, patting her back gently and motioning her to get up.
"Okay." Chen Xiaoru nodded, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
The two dressed neatly and left the room. They went to the kitchen to get some water and wash up. Song's mother was already waiting inside. When she saw them come out, she hurried forward, took Chen Xiaoru's hand, and said with concern, "Zhe'er, Xiaoru, you should eat something first. You'll be hungry on the way."
"Okay, Mom." Chen Xiaoru nodded obediently, a barely perceptible arc raised at the corner of her mouth. She sneered in her heart. She was in no hurry to go over! But how did those two people die like that? It was really hard to understand.
"System, what's going on? Didn't we just use the nightmare talisman? Why did both of them die?" Chen Xiaoru questioned the system in her mind, with a hint of doubt and confusion in her voice.
"Host, this is what happened." The system's mechanical voice echoed in Chen Xiaoru's mind. "Last night, I listened to you and used the nightmare talisman. Li Cuihua and Wang Mazi were in that nightmare, being chased and hacked by Chen Dahe. They were like mad dogs, biting each other in a hideous display of violence. Waking up from the nightmare, your stepmother's rage, far from subsiding, intensified. She rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a gleaming kitchen knife, her eyes bloodshot, and roared as she threatened to cut Wang Mazi into pieces.
