Xuanyuan Che's heart sank suddenly. He knew Chen Xiaoru wouldn't have a stomachache for no reason. There must be something fishy going on. He turned to look at the imperial physician, palace maids and eunuchs kneeling on the ground, a cold glint in his eyes:
"Who murdered Concubine Chen?! Investigate for me! Investigate thoroughly! If I can't find the real culprit, I will bury all of you with me!"
"We dare not!" Everyone was trembling with fear and knelt down to beg for mercy.
Xuanyuan Che no longer paid attention to them, but turned his gaze back to Chen Xiaoru and said softly, "Xiaoru, don't worry, I will definitely take care of it for you and find the real culprit."
Chen Xiaoru nodded weakly and closed her eyes again.
Xuanyuan Che saw that Chen Xiaoru had fallen asleep, so he left the bedroom and went to the side hall.
"Li Dequan, go investigate for me! I want to see who dares to tamper with the emperor and harm my concubine so blatantly!" Xuanyuan Che's voice was like an icicle in the cold winter, with a biting chill, hitting the empty hall and causing waves of echoes.
"Yes!" Li Dequan bowed and accepted the order, then retreated like a gust of wind.
After Li Dequan left, Xuanyuan Che stood alone in the center of the hall, his face as dark and gloomy as the sky before a storm. He stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze sweeping across every corner of the hall like a knife. Chen Xiaoru's painful moans lingered in the air, the sound like sharp needles piercing his heart.
Chen Xiaoru's pale face was like a brand, deeply imprinted in his mind, lingering forever. A surge of rage, like a volcanic eruption, burned fiercely in his chest, the scorching heat threatening to engulf him whole.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm the surging emotions in his chest. He knew that now was not the time to act rashly. The most urgent task was to find the mastermind behind this as soon as possible and give Chen Xiaoru and her unborn child an explanation.
"Someone come here!" He shouted in a deep voice, his voice like the roar of a wild beast, making the hall buzz.
"Your servants are here!" Several eunuchs guarding outside the hall ran in like frightened birds, knelt on the ground, and waited for orders tremblingly.
"Go! Call all those who have delivered things to the Concubine Chen today, and all those who have had contact with the Concubine Chen, all of them to me! Don't let any of them go!" Xuanyuan Che's voice was as cold as a thousand-year-old ice, with unquestionable majesty, hitting everyone's heart like a heavy hammer.
"Yes! Your servants obey your command!" The eunuchs dared not be negligent at all. They accepted the order immediately and retreated like a gust of wind.
Xuanyuan Che slowly walked to Chen Xiaoru's bedside, looking at her pale face, his heart filled with indescribable pity and worry. He gently held her cold hand, as if protecting a fragile treasure, and said softly:
"Xiao Ru, don't worry, I will definitely take care of you and will never let anyone hurt you or our child."
Chen Xiaoru still had her eyes tightly closed, like a sleeping butterfly, motionless. But Xuanyuan Che knew that she could definitely feel his presence, his care and love.
