He muttered to himself and opened a few more sacks. Sure enough, they were all full of rice!
"Chen Laizi! You coward! If you have the guts, don't come out!" Chen's mother was still shouting outside the door, her voice a little hoarse.
Chen Laizi listened to the noise outside and thought to himself: This much rice is enough to last me for a while, now I don't have to worry about going hungry! My daughter is still the best!
Seeing her mother waving a broom aggressively, Chen Xiaoru was afraid that she would not be able to stop, so she hurried forward and hugged her mother's arm.
"Mom, mom! Calm down!" Chen Xiaoru's voice was filled with anxiety and helplessness. "I'm hungry. Stop fighting and make me some porridge, okay?"
She pulled out a steamed bun wrapped in oil paper from her bosom and waved it in front of Chen's mother. "I also bought steamed buns! The hot meat buns paired with the fragrant porridge are absolutely delicious!"
When Chen's mother heard "My daughter is hungry" and smelled the aroma of the meat buns, she immediately stopped what she was doing and the broom in her hand fell to the ground with a "click".
"Oh, my dear! Is my daughter hungry?!" Chen's mother's tone softened instantly. There was no longer any anger on her face, only heartache. "It's all my fault. I was so busy teaching that bastard a lesson that I forgot my precious daughter was still hungry!"
She quickly turned around and walked towards the kitchen, muttering, "Wait for me, my daughter. I'll make you some porridge and some hot buns. I'll make you a full meal!"
"Bang bang bang! Open the door, you bastard! My daughter is hungry, I'll go in and make some porridge!" Chen's mother banged on the kitchen door and shouted at the top of her voice.
When Chen Laizi heard that she was going to cook for her daughter, he immediately perked up. He quickly unbolted the door and opened it, urging her, "Then hurry up and do it! Don't dawdle. If my daughter becomes skinny after a while, I'll never forgive you!"
