Chapter 38 The Emperor's Peasant Wife 37

One year later

The resplendent Fengyi Palace, ablaze with red candles, cast a festive glow over everything within. The enormous dragon and phoenix candles burned silently, their wax dripping silently as if witnessing the most grand celebration of the Great Xia Dynasty. The air was filled with the faint scent of ambergris, blending with the candle wax and a subtle, almost sweet aroma—the unique fragrance of Chen Xiaoru.

Chen Xiaoru, clad in a phoenix robe and crown, sat quietly on the edge of the bed. The gold thread on the robe gleamed in the candlelight, outlining a lifelike phoenix pattern, wings spread, ready to take flight, symbolizing her supreme status. The shimmering pearls and jade on the crown framed her delicate features, adding a touch of majesty.

Xuanyuan Che changed out of his dragon robes and donned a dark red casual suit embroidered with golden dragons. He slowly walked over to Chen Xiaoru. He looked at her with undisguised tenderness and doting in his eyes. He reached out and gently stroked her cheek, his fingertips gliding across her delicate skin, bringing a tingling sensation.

Xuanyuan Che leaned over slightly and whispered in her ear: "Xiaoru, I finally married you. I also fulfilled my promise to you." His voice was low and magnetic, with a hint of soothing power.

Chen Xiaoru raised her eyes and met Xuanyuan Che's deep gaze. She shook her head gently, then nodded, her voice as thin as a mosquito: "Your Majesty..."

Xuanyuan Che chuckled and wrapped her small hand in his palm. His palm was large and warm, giving her an inexplicable sense of security.

Xuanyuan Che smiled with satisfaction. He took Chen Xiaoru's hand and walked to the dragon and phoenix wedding candles in the center of the hall. He picked up the jade ruyi beside him and gently lifted Chen Xiaoru's red veil.

The red silk slipped off, revealing Chen Xiaoru's stunningly beautiful face to Xuanyuan Che without reservation. Under the candlelight, her skin was whiter than snow, her eyebrows were picturesque, her eyes were clear and bright, like stars, and her cherry lips were slightly parted with a faint smile, her beauty was breathtaking.

Xuanyuan Che's breathing paused slightly, and a flash of surprise flashed in his eyes. He once again held Chen Xiaoru's hand tightly, and stood shoulder to shoulder with her, facing the direction of the hall entrance.

"The auspicious time has arrived, let's proceed with the wedding ceremony!" The high-pitched voice of the ceremonial officer came from outside the hall, breaking the tranquility inside.

Immediately afterwards, palace maids in formal attire filed in, carrying various auspicious objects in their hands. Their graceful movements and silent steps lined up in an orderly fashion on both sides of the hall, adding a sacred atmosphere to the solemn ceremony.

Under the guidance of the palace maids, Chen Xiaoru and Xuanyuan Che completed the various steps of the wedding ceremony. They drank the wedding wine together, symbolizing their unity and eternal love; they exchanged tokens, symbolizing their mutual commitment and fidelity; and they offered sacrifices to heaven and earth, symbolizing their reverence for the heavens and their hope for the future.

The entire wedding ceremony was solemn and dignified, each step imbued with a sense of ritual. Although somewhat nervous, Chen Xiaoru managed to maintain her demeanor and perform each move with utmost care. Xuanyuan Che remained by her side, offering support and encouragement.

After the wedding ceremony, the palace maids left one after another, leaving only Chen Xiaoru and Xuanyuan Che in the hall.

Xuanyuan Che took Chen Xiaoru's hand again, walked to the bedside, and said softly: "Xiaoru, are you tired? Rest early."

Xuanyuan Che then kissed Chen Xiaoru on the lips without hesitation. For the past year, Xuanyuan Che had been concerned about Chen Xiaoru's health and had abstained from sex for a year. Now, on their wedding night, he was with the woman he loved. He couldn't help but... Xuanyuan Che stared at Chen Xiaoru, his eyes burning with passion. He slowly bent down and gently covered hers with his thin lips. Chen Xiaoru trembled slightly, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, and her hands subconsciously grasped Xuanyuan Che's sleeves.

It was a gentle and lingering kiss, with a hint of tentativeness and cherishment. Xuanyuan Che's movements were very gentle, as if he was afraid to disturb the treasure in his arms. He only gently sucked on her lips, rolling and rubbing them. Chen Xiaoru was a little stiff at first, but gradually, she relaxed and responded to his kiss.

The dragon and phoenix wedding candles burned, their flickering light illuminating their intertwined figures. The air within the hall seemed to grow scorching, carrying a hint of sweetness. Xuanyuan Che's kiss deepened, domineering and possessive. His tongue slid into her mouth, tracing her lips and teeth, entwining with hers. Chen Xiaoru's cheeks flushed crimson, her breathing quickened, and tiny moans escaped her lips.

Xuanyuan Che held her waist with one hand and gently lifted the back of her head with the other, pulling her closer to him. His kiss grew deeper and more intense, as if he wanted to pour all the longing and desire he had accumulated over the past year into this kiss. Chen Xiaoru felt her whole body go limp, her mind blank. She could only cling to him tightly, letting him do whatever he wanted.

The red candlelight flickered violently, illuminating the two figures entwined in a tangle, casting a wide, swaying shadow on the wall. The scent of ambergris grew stronger, mingling with the steam rising from their bodies, filling the entire hall. Chen Xiaoru's phoenix robe slipped off her body, revealing her radiant white skin in the candlelight, a seductive sheen like the finest mutton-fat jade. Xuanyuan Che's breathing was heavy, his eyes crimson, burning with a blazing fire. He leaned over and whispered in her ear, "Xiaoru, I am delighted with you." His voice was deep and sensual, carrying a long-suppressed desire and a subtle tremor.

When love is deep, it is hard to let go.

"Well... Your Majesty, be gentler... I can't bear it anymore..." Chen Xiaoru sobbed softly in a crying voice, her voice soft and sticky, with a hint of begging for mercy. There were crystal tears in the corners of her eyes, and she looked particularly moving under the candlelight.

"Be good, Xiaoru. I know you're feeling bad. Just bear with it for a little while, just a little while..." Xuanyuan Che coaxed her into his ear, his voice gentle yet undeniably overbearing. He kissed away the tears from her eyes, his movements gentle yet with an irresistible force as he pulled her back into his arms.
