Su Qing was frightened by Chu Tianche's murderous eyes. The grievance on her face disappeared instantly, leaving only fear.
She opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but when she met Chu Tianche's eyes, which were colder than an ice cave, all the words were stuck in her throat and not a single word came out.
She had never seen Chu Tianche look so scary. He was like an angry lion that could tear her to pieces in the next second.
“I…I…”
Su Qing was so scared that she was shaking and couldn't speak clearly. Her butt moved backwards unconsciously, but she was still sitting on the ground, so where could she move to?
She wanted to stand up, but her stomach was still cramping with pain. She cried out "ouch" and fell back down, her face as white as paper.
Chu Tianche didn't have the patience to wait any longer. He took a step forward, his tall figure looming over Su Qing, giving her a very oppressive feeling.
"Tell me, why do you do this?"
His voice was low and dangerous, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a suffocating chill.
Su Qing was so scared that tears came out of her eyes. She knew that she had really angered Chu Tianche this time.
She didn't dare to hide it anymore, and could only speak in a trembling voice, intermittently:
"I...I just...I just can't stand her..."
She didn't dare to express her love for Chu Tianche, and she didn't dare to admit that she deliberately framed Chen Xiaoru because she was jealous of her.
"Can't stand it?"
Chu Tianche sneered, his eyes becoming even colder. "Just because you don't like it, you can hurt others at will? Su Qing, do you think I, Chu Tianche, am easy to fool?"
He squatted down, reached out and pinched Su Qing's chin, forcing her to raise her head and look at him.
"Let me tell you, what I hate most is people who think they are smart, and you have made exactly that mistake."
Su Qing's chin was pinched so hard that it hurt. She wanted to struggle, but she couldn't move Chu Tianche at all.
She looked at Chu Tianche's eyes filled with anger, her heart filled with fear and regret. She knew that she was really finished this time.
Chen Xiaoru ran wildly all the way, her high heels clattering on the marble floor, the sound was particularly harsh in the empty hotel lobby.
She didn't care about her hair being messed up by the wind, nor did she care about her chest being gasped for breath like a bellows. Now she had only one thought: to escape from this damn place as soon as possible!
Zhou Chen had been waiting in the rest area of the hall. When he saw Chen Xiaoru running out in a panic, he quickly stood up, holding a ladies' handbag in his hand, which was exactly what Chen Xiaoru had left behind in a hurry.
"Secretary Chen, your bag." Zhou Chen's voice was steady, with a hint of imperceptible concern.
Chen Xiaoru subconsciously stopped when she heard the voice and turned around to see Zhou Chen walking towards her. She panted slightly, trying to calm her disordered breathing, and then she noticed the bag in Zhou Chen's hand.
"Assistant Zhou." Chen Xiaoru walked up to Zhou Chen and nodded to him as a greeting.
"Secretary Chen, your bag."
Zhou Chen handed the bag to Chen Xiaoru again, his tone still calm, without any unnecessary emotion.
Chen Xiaoru took the bag without even glancing at Zhou Chen. She simply said "thank you" and quickly left the hotel. The sound of her high heels tapping against the floor gradually faded away, leaving Zhou Chen standing there alone. He watched her leave, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
The hotel lobby was brightly lit, dazzlingly bright. Outside the window was the night view of the city, with cars coming and going, very lively and bustling, which was completely different from the quietness of the hotel.
A few seconds later, Chu Tianche also chased out, his face as gloomy as the sky before a storm. He strode across the hall, his sharp eyes scanning every corner like a radar, but he did not see any trace of Chen Xiaoru.
"Where's Chen Xiaoru? Where did she go?"
His voice was low and filled with suppressed anger, echoing in the empty hall.
Zhou Chen turned slightly to avoid Chu Tianche's piercing gaze, his tone remaining calm:
"Secretary Chen just left. She looked very anxious and left without saying anything."
"She didn't tell you where she was going?"
Chu Tianche's brows were furrowed, and his voice was as cold as ice.
Zhou Chen was slightly stunned. Chu Tianche's sudden question caught him off guard.
"This... I really don't know, Mr. Chu."
"Do you know where she lives?"
Chu Tianche's voice was low and filled with an irrepressible impatience, breaking the silence in the hall.
"I don't know." Zhou Chen said. Although he and Chen Xiaoru were colleagues, they always kept a distance from each other.
Chu Tianche's expression darkened instantly, a layer of frost covering his brows, and his tightly pursed lips revealed his inner displeasure. The anxiety in his eyes became more and more obvious, even bringing with it a subtle hint of panic.
He took out his cell phone and quickly flipped through the address book. His slender fingertips slid across the screen. Finally, he stopped at a number and dialed it without hesitation.
"Check Chen Xiaoru's home address for me, immediately!" Chu Tianche's voice was cold and tough, leaving no room for doubt.
Zhou Chen stood aside and could clearly feel the suppressed anger in Chu Tianche's tone, which made his heart tremble slightly.
After hanging up the phone, Chu Tianche didn't even look at Zhou Chen. He turned around and walked back to the hotel in a hurry.
Zhou Chen stood there alone, watching Chu Tianche's departing back, his heart full of doubts.
"What's wrong with Mr. Chu..." Zhou Chen whispered to himself, his brows furrowed, his eyes full of confusion.
Chen Xiaoru returned home angrily.
"Bang!" She slammed the door with a deafening roar, and her high heels, like discarded rags, fell crookedly to the floor in the hallway with a "clatter". She took a few steps to the sofa, and as if all her strength had been drained away, she plopped down, sinking a large part into the soft cushions.
She scratched her hair irritably, and her originally neatly tied hair instantly became frizzy, with a few strands of hair sticking up restlessly, just like her mood at the moment.
"Fuck it!" Chen Xiaoru cursed loudly, her chest heaving up and down as if it was about to explode.
Her eyes were as big as copper bells, staring at the air, as if Su Qing's hypocritical face was stuck there, and she wanted to pounce on her and scratch her face!
"What the hell!"
She slammed her fist on the armrest of the sofa, her hand numb from the shock. "Can't you just talk it out nicely? You have to hit someone? And then you act pitiful after beating them up. Who are you pretending to be for? You stinking bitch!"
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She was so angry that her whole body was shaking. She grabbed the pillow on the coffee table and almost tore it apart with her nails. She wished she could tear the pillow into eight pieces as if it were Su Qing's face!
"Pooh!"
She threw the pillow aside, leaned back, sank into the sofa, and let out a long breath, but the depression in her chest did not ease at all.
"I've never been humiliated like this in my life!"
She raised her hand to rub her swollen temples, her tone full of fatigue and grievance, "I'm so unlucky to have run into such a psychopath!"
