Chu Tianche raised his eyes and his gaze fell on Chen Xiaoru's swollen cheeks. His eyes darkened, but his tone remained gentle: "Does it still hurt?"
Chen Xiaoru was stunned. She didn't expect him to ask so directly. The temperature on her cheeks instantly rose several degrees. She shook her head gently, avoiding his gaze.
"No...it's okay, I'm much better now. Thank you, Mr. Chu, for your concern."
"Are you really okay?"
Chu Tianche didn't seem to believe it and asked again.
"It's really okay. I've already applied ice."
Chen Xiaoru blinked, hiding the trace of inquiry in her eyes: "Um, Mr. Chu, you came so late...is there something wrong?"
"I……"
Chu Tianche hesitated to speak, his eyes gently falling on her face, with a little imperceptible pity. He leaned forward slightly and said in a low voice:
"Come and see you. After all, you were injured because of me."

Chen Xiaoru was speechless at his question. She couldn't possibly say she thought he would...say or do something, could she? That would be too presumptuous.
"I don't mean anything else, it's just... I'm a little surprised."
"I came to see you unexpectedly?"
Chu Tianche raised his eyebrows, leaned slightly closer, and his deep voice was a bit seductive.
"Or, what are you expecting me to do?"
"Um……"
Chen Xiaoru nodded, her voice low and filled with a subtle sense of loss.
"After all, you're the president, and you're so busy with work... I thought you were so busy that you wouldn't notice a small employee like me."
Chu Tianche felt a little uncomfortable when she looked at him. His sexy Adam's apple rolled up and down, and a playful smile appeared at the corner of his mouth:
"What? Are you fascinated by my handsomeness, your boss? Or do you think I should do something to fit the image of a domineering CEO in your mind?" His voice was a little playful and a little serious.
Chen Xiaoru finally came back to her senses, her face flushed all the way to her ears. She lowered her head in panic, twisting the corner of her clothes with her fingers, her voice as thin as a mosquito:
"No, no... Mr. Chu, you're joking. You... you're a very nice person."
She raised her head, glanced at him secretly, then quickly lowered her head and added in a low voice: "And, he's very handsome."
"Oh? Really?"
Chu Tianche chuckled softly, his voice low and magnetic, as if carrying an electric current, causing Chen Xiaoru's heart to skip a beat. He suddenly took a step forward, his tall figure enveloping her, and a faint scent of cologne entered her nose.
He knew that if he stayed any longer, the secretary would probably faint from fear, so he restrained his aura and softened his voice:
"Okay, I won't tease you anymore. It's getting late, I'm leaving now. You should rest well at home tomorrow, and it will be considered your paid leave."
"Really?! Paid vacation?!"
Chen Xiaoru's eyes almost lit up, and she almost jumped up from the sofa. She suppressed her inner ecstasy, and her voice was a little shaky:
"Thank you, Mr. Chu." After saying this, she couldn't help but make a "yeah" gesture in her heart.
"Well, I'm leaving then."
After Chu Tianche finished speaking, he turned and walked towards the door.
Chen Xiaoru hurriedly followed him and diligently opened the door for him, not forgetting to remind him: "Mr. Chu, please walk slowly and be careful on the road."
After she finished speaking, she slammed the door shut, blocking out the outside view and also blocking the smile on Chu Tianche's lips.
Outside the door, Chu Tianche listened to the crisp sound of the door closing, smiled, shook his head, and turned to leave.
After seeing Chu Tianche off, Chen Xiaoru sat on the sofa and gently touched her cheek. When she touched the swollen area, she still felt a stinging pain.
“Hiss, it hurts.”
She frowned, stood up and walked towards the bathroom.
In the bathroom, the warm water washed over her skin, washing away the fatigue and redness on her face. Chen Xiaoru looked at her face carefully in the mirror.
Although it was still red and swollen, the ice compress was effective, at least it wasn't as scary anymore. She reached out and took off her thick black-framed glasses, then began to admire the woman in the mirror.
"I'm so beautiful! How can I be so beautiful? I love it so much."
Chen Xiaoru walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a bath towel and changed into light blue home clothes.
"Ah, it's so comfortable to wear."
Chen Xiaoru sighed softly and stretched.
She walked into the living room, where the medicine box lay quietly on the coffee table under the bright light. Chen Xiaoru picked up the medicine box and returned to the bathroom, where she turned on the overhead light.
In the bright light, she could clearly see herself in the mirror. Chen Xiaoru carefully applied ointment to the wounds on her face, her gentle movements tinged with caution.
"hiss--"
When the ointment touched the wound, she couldn't help but gasp, "It still hurts a little."
After applying the ointment, Chen Xiaoru gently massaged her cheeks to ensure it was fully absorbed. She nodded with satisfaction, turned off the bathroom light, and returned to the living room.
