Chen Xiaoru felt a buzzing in her head, as if a ball of cotton was stuffed into it, and she was completely dazed.
She opened her eyes wide, her mouth wide open enough to fit an egg, and she stammered at Chu Tianche, unable to utter a word for a long time.
This guy, he he he... he actually confessed his feelings to me? Was this the sun rising from the west? Or was I dreaming?
"You go."
Chen Xiaoru took a deep breath, broke free from his arms, turned her head to the side, and spoke in a cold tone, but she couldn't hide the hint of panic in her voice.
Chu Tianche refused to give up. He took a step forward and stretched out his hand to grab Chen Xiaoru's arm, but stopped in mid-air and looked at her pitifully instead, "Xiaoru, don't do this."
His voice was low and pleading, "Give me a chance, a chance to take care of you, okay?"
Chen Xiaoru avoided his gaze, her slender fingers unconsciously twisting the corner of her clothes, her brows furrowed, and it was obvious that she was struggling with her conscience.
"Let me think about it." She whispered, her voice as thin as a mosquito.
"Okay," Chu Tianche agreed immediately, fearing that Chen Xiaoru, the cooked duck, would fly away.
He rubbed his sore eyes. He had been working non-stop for the company's project these days. His eye circles were dark and his eyeballs were full of red bloodshot. He looked much more haggard.
"Xiao Ru, can I take a nap here for a while? Just for a little while. I really can't take it anymore. I haven't had a full night's sleep in the past few days."
As he spoke, he yawned loudly and tears were about to come out.
Chen Xiaoru's heart softened when she saw him like this. She bit her lower lip and finally nodded, "Yeah."
Seeing Chen Xiaoru's agreement, Chu Tianche couldn't hide a hint of joy on his tired face. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and said in a low and slightly hoarse voice:
"Xiao Ru, thank you."
After saying that, he walked straight to the bathroom, but his steps were a little unsteady, as if he was forcing himself to stay awake.
Chen Xiaoru looked at his slightly staggering back, wanting to say something but stopping herself, and ultimately said nothing.
When she came to her senses, the sound of water splashing could be heard in the bathroom.
She shook her head helplessly and muttered:
“Really…”
Before he finished speaking, the bathroom door opened with a click, and Chu Tianche came out wrapped in a bath towel, his hair still dripping with water. In the mist, his already handsome features looked even softer.
This guy really didn't consider himself an outsider. He walked over to the bed and sat down, causing the mattress to tremble three times.
Then, he kicked off his shoes, lifted the quilt, and lay down as if he was back home, humming comfortably.
Chen Xiaoru's eyes nearly popped out of her head. Is this... is this still the same cold and domineering CEO Chu? Why is he acting like a fool?
Chu Tianche seemed not to notice her surprised expression. He took a deep breath and sighed with satisfaction:
"Hmm, it smells so good..." He closed his eyes and leaned back on the pillow. In less than three seconds, he began to snore softly.
Chen Xiaoru closed the bedroom door gently, not noticing Chu Tianche lying on the bed behind her. A barely perceptible smile appeared on the corner of her mouth.
Chen Xiaoru walked into the living room, poured herself a glass of water to moisten her dry throat, then curled back up on the sofa to continue watching the drama she had not finished.
But I couldn't concentrate at all, and my mind was full of the shadow of Chu Tianche.
The more she thought about it, the funnier it became, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curl up. Chu Tianche's behavior today had completely overturned her perception of him.
“Puff—”
Chen Xiaoru couldn't help laughing as she thought about Chu Tianche looking at her pitifully and saying "I'm so tired" with a heavy nasal voice. She shook her head and said to herself, "This guy is simply..."
She picked up the water cup and took a sip. The warm water slid down her throat, but it couldn't dispel the heat in her heart.
The original owner must have liked Chu Tianche, otherwise she wouldn't have rushed over without asking any questions when he called her.
Chen Xiaoru sighed. She could now truly feel the original owner's feelings.
Lanting Villa
Mother Chu was so angry that her chest heaved violently. Her features were almost squeezed together with anger, and her originally carefully drawn eyebrows were twisted into knots.
She slammed her handbag on the coffee table with a loud "bang", almost shattering the blue and white porcelain tea set.
"Chu Tianche, you've grown wings, haven't you? How dare you play tricks on me! I'll go to the company and skin you alive!"
As she yelled, she paced back and forth on the floor, her pointed high heels looking like they were going to poke holes in the floor.
When she arrived at the company, the receptionist stood up immediately when she saw her, her waist almost bent to the ground: "Madam, you are here."
Mother Chu's face was as dark as the bottom of a pot: "Where is Chu Tianche?"
"Mr. Chu...he's not here." The girl at the front desk started to tremble with her voice.
"Not here? Where did you go? When did you leave? What were you doing?" Chu's mother bombarded him with a series of questions like a machine gun.
"Mr. Chu...he...he didn't say where he was going, just that he had something urgent to do. He's been gone for about an hour." The girl at the front desk was so scared that she started crying.
Chen Xiaoru was furious and glared at the secretary fiercely. Her eyes were as sharp as a knife, which frightened the secretary so much that he trembled all over and dared not say another word.
She turned and left, her high heels tapping on the polished marble floor, each click sounding like she was stepping on the secretary's heart, the sound was quick and sharp, filled with undisguised anger.
