Chen Xiaoru carefully helped Song Zhe to the living room. When Song Zhe saw the newcomer, a look of surprise suddenly appeared on his face. He broke away from Chen Xiaoru's hand, took a few steps forward, bowed his head, and said respectfully:
"Teacher, why are you here? You should have sent someone to inform the students before you came so that they could go and greet you!"
Cheng Shuwen, also known as Master Cheng, whom Song Zhe respectfully called "Teacher," stroked his beard, looked at Song Zhe gently, nodded with satisfaction, and said:
"I heard that you, Azhe, are now able to walk again. I was very pleased and decided to come see you. I wanted to give you a surprise, so I didn't tell you in advance. How's it going? Surprise, right?"
"I feel ashamed for causing the teacher to worry."
Song Zhe lowered his head, a hint of guilt in his tone. "Teacher, please take a seat. Xiaoru, please serve me some tea."
"Hey, here I come."
Chen Xiaoru responded and hurried to pour tea.
Cheng Shuwen waved his hand, signaling Song Zhe not to do so. He turned to look at Cheng Rongrong, who was standing aside and watching them silently, and said:
"Rongrong, come over and meet your brother Song Zhe."
Cheng Rongrong was awakened from her dream when she heard this. She slowly stepped forward and bowed to Song Zhe, her voice as soft as water:
"Rongrong has met Brother Song Zhe. It's been a while since we last met. Brother Song Zhe looks even better than before, and his health has improved a lot. Rongrong is really happy for him."
Song Zhe slightly turned sideways to avoid Cheng Rongrong's greeting. He raised his head, looked at Cheng Rongrong calmly, and said lightly:
"Thank you for your concern, but there's no need to be so polite, Miss Cheng. You and I are no longer engaged. Please call me Song Zhe to avoid misunderstandings."
Hearing this, Cheng Rongrong's body trembled, her eyes instantly reddened, tears welled up in her eyes, and she bit her lower lip with her pearly teeth, her voice filled with tears:
"Brother Song Zhe, you...you are really so cruel, are you still blaming me? I know I was wrong back then. I shouldn't...I shouldn't have listened to other people's slander. I...I...I have been blaming myself day and night these days. Every time I think of it, my heart aches. Brother Song Zhe, please forgive me this time, okay?"
"I dare not."
Song Zhe took a step back and bowed, his tone still calm, as if he was talking about something that had nothing to do with him.
"Ms. Cheng, you're too kind. I've never blamed Ms. Cheng, it's just..."
He paused, as if choosing his words.
"It's just that the past is over. I hope Miss Cheng won't mention it again. You and I have nothing to do with each other's marriage. Miss Cheng, please don't say anything that might cause misunderstanding, so as not to delay Miss Cheng's lifelong event."
Chen Xiaoru stood aside, watching the play in front of her, and couldn't help sighing in her heart:
"It's such a shame that Cheng Rongrong doesn't go to sing. Her acting is so pitiful."
She secretly glanced at Song Zhe and saw that he had no expression on his face and stood there like a wooden man. She secretly worried about him and thought:
"Now we're going to have a good show. Let's see how you, a taciturn person, will handle it. Rongrong is so pitiful. If he continues to be so stubborn, won't he be called a heartless person?"
"Husband, please sit down first. You have just recovered a little. Don't get tired."
Chen Xiaoru spoke softly, reaching out to support Song Zhe and carefully helping him sit down on the chair, her eyes full of concern. She turned to look at Cheng Rongrong and said gently:
"Ms. Cheng, please stop standing and sit down and talk."
Master Cheng then noticed that there was a woman standing behind Song Zhe. He looked at Chen Xiaoru and asked, "Azhe, who is this?"
"teacher,"
Song Zhe raised his eyes to look at Master Cheng, and said solemnly, "This is my wife, Chen Xiaoru."
After listening to Song Zhe's introduction, Chen Xiaoru hurriedly stepped forward, slightly bent her knees, and bowed to Cheng Shuwen. Her voice was clear and pleasant:
"Xiao Ru has met the teacher."
Chen Xiaoru silently retreated behind Song Zhe, but her bright eyes darted back and forth between Cheng Rongrong and Song Zhe. A playful smile appeared at the corner of her mouth, and she looked like she was enjoying the show.
"Brother Song Zhe, when did you get married?"
Cheng Rongrong could no longer hold back her tears, which rolled down like beads from a broken string. She raised her sleeves and gently wiped away her tears. Her voice was choked with sobs, and her eyes were filled with disbelief and grievance, as if struck by lightning.
Song Zhe looked at her, his face expressionless, and replied calmly:
"We got married three days ago."
When Cheng Rongrong heard this, her body trembled violently, her face turned pale in an instant, and she staggered and almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, Master Cheng was quick to catch her.
Cheng Rongrong clutched Master Cheng's sleeve tightly, like a drowning person grabbing a lifeline. She raised her head and looked at Song Zhe with tearful eyes, her lips trembling and her voice trembling uncontrollably:
"Three days ago...three days ago...wasn't that exactly...wasn't that exactly...the day we agreed on? How could...how could this happen?"
Song Zhe lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes covering the emotions in his eyes, avoiding Cheng Rongrong's burning and sad gaze. He was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke in a low and resolute voice:
"When we agreed to this, I was a normal person with all my limbs intact. When I married Xiaoru, I was still a cripple lying in bed waiting to die. Now that I can walk, I'm no longer the Song Zhe I once was. Furthermore, you and I were no longer related when we got married. Please don't say anything that will cause my wife to misunderstand you."
"Song Zhe is too unkind to women," Chen Xiaoru complained secretly. She caught a glimpse of Cheng Rongrong's tearful face from the corner of her eye, and felt a little bit of pity in her heart.
