As the days passed, Chen Xiaoru's belly swelled up like a balloon. Xiao Lang saw it and felt both happy and worried. He couldn't help but feel anxious.
"Xiaoru, is your belly too big? It's only six months, and you look like you're about to give birth. Is there any problem?" Xiao Lang gently stroked Chen Xiaoru's belly, his voice trembling slightly.
Chen Xiaoru was quite open-minded. She touched her round belly and said with a smile, "I'm fine! I can eat and sleep well, and I'm not feeling any discomfort. By the way, the New Year is almost here, when are we going back?"
"I've already applied for leave and bought the train tickets. We'll leave the day after tomorrow." Xiao Lang said quickly, "I've already called Dad. He'll have someone pick us up at the station."
When Chen Xiaoru heard this, her eyes curved with joy, "That's great! I've never been to your house. I won't come over when the time comes. I can give birth at home, and my parents will be there to help me."
Xiao Lang looked at her with gentle eyes: "Okay, I'll listen to you."
Chen Xiaoru nodded and looked forward to it: "Yeah, then I can take care of the baby with mom and dad. It's so lively just thinking about it!"
Xiao Lang couldn't help laughing when he heard her words, but he was also a little worried: "Xiao Ru, you might be pregnant with twins. Are you really ready? You'll be busy when the time comes."
Chen Xiaoru blinked and said playfully, "Don't we still have you? And our parents?"
Xiao Lang held her hand and promised solemnly: "Don't worry, I will take good care of you and the babies. But... your belly is so big now, will you feel uncomfortable riding the train?"
Chen Xiaoru thought about it and shook her head: "No need, the train is fast, and I'm not that squeamish."
Xiao Lang couldn't persuade her, so he had to agree: "Okay, if you feel uncomfortable on the way, you must tell me."
Chen Xiaoru snuggled into his arms and whispered, "I know, don't worry."
"Xiao Ru, you take a rest first. I'll go pack my luggage. We've booked tickets for tomorrow at noon, and I've specially chosen a sleeper." Xiao Lang said, his eyes full of gentle concern.
Chen Xiaoru snuggled up to him, shook her head gently, and said softly, "I'm not sleepy yet. I'll just stay here and watch you work." There was a hint of dependence and sweetness in her tone.
Xiao Lang smiled slightly and began to pack his luggage, folding each piece of clothing neatly. He also did not forget to put Chen Xiaoru's favorite snacks and things she would need on the road in a small bag for easy access.
Chen Xiaoru looked at his busy figure, her heart warmed, and she couldn't help but ask: "Xiao Lang, what do you think our family will be like? Will my parents... like me?"
Xiao Lang stopped what he was doing, turned around, and gently held her hand, his eyes firm and gentle: "Silly girl, how could they not like you? They have been looking forward to this day for a long time. Dad even asked me to tell you that the family has already prepared a room for you and bought a lot of new things. Mom also kept saying that she would make a lot of delicious food for you, saying that you are pregnant and need to nourish yourself well."
Chen Xiaoru listened, and the little uneasiness in her heart dissipated. The corners of her mouth unconsciously raised: "Then... I have to eat more when the time comes, otherwise I will be sorry for Mom's kindness."
Xiao Lang scratched her nose lovingly: "Little greedy cat! But you can't do whatever you want now. You have to know what to eat and what not to eat. If you feel uncomfortable, tell my mother. She must have experience."
Chen Xiaoru nodded obediently: "I know, I will pay attention." She paused, and asked expectantly: "Xiao Lang, do you think the baby looks more like you or me?"
Xiao Lang smiled, his eyes filled with longing. "It doesn't matter if it's you or me. As long as it's our baby, I'll love it." He gently stroked Chen Xiaoru's bulging belly, as if he could feel the presence of the little life inside. "But I hope the baby can be like you, kind, cheerful, and... so cute."
Chen Xiaoru felt a little embarrassed by his praise, her cheeks flushed slightly, and she punched him lightly: "You are the only one who can talk!"
Xiao Lang took her into his arms and whispered in her ear, "Xiao Ru, thank you for bearing children for me and giving so much for me."
Chen Xiaoru leaned on his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, feeling his warm embrace, her heart filled with happiness.
The next day, Xiao Lang rose at dawn. He tiptoed to the kitchen, thinking Chen Xiaoru might be hungry on the train, so he carefully prepared a hearty breakfast and snacks for the journey. The table was overflowing with her favorite dishes.
After a busy morning, the two had lunch. Xiao Lang carried the bags and carefully helped Chen Xiaoru out the door.
"Have you brought everything? Did you forget anything?" Chen Xiaoru stood at the door and asked softly, with a hint of anticipation for the upcoming journey between her eyebrows.
Xiao Lang smiled and tucked a strand of hair that fell on her cheek behind her ear: "I've brought everything, don't worry. I prepared a hot water bottle, a pillow, and your favorite sour plums for you. They are all in the small bag on the outside."
Chen Xiaoru felt so sweet in her heart that she couldn't help but stand on tiptoe and pecked him lightly on the cheek: "Thank you, Xiao Lang."
Xiao Lang was stunned for a moment, then he smiled even more happily, with the tenderness in his eyes almost overflowing: "Silly girl, why are you being so polite to me?" He gently put his arm around Chen Xiaoru's waist, fearing that she would make any mistake.
Arriving at the train station, the crowds surged and the noise was deafening. Xiao Lang held Chen Xiaoru tightly, fearing she would be squeezed and bumped. Only after finding their carriage and settling Chen Xiaoru down on the berth did Xiao Lang breathe a sigh of relief.
