Chen Xiaoru quickly took it, her fingertips gently brushing across the fabric, feeling soft and comfortable. She raised her head and said gratefully:
"Thank you, Mom. It's great to have something to wear. I'm not picky."
"That's good, that's good."
Mother Song nodded repeatedly, turned her gaze towards the closed door, and asked with concern, "Zhe'er...is he okay?"
"He's fine. I just put some hot water in there so he can have a good wash."
As Chen Xiaoru spoke, the corners of her lips rose slightly.
"That's great. I'll go cook for you. We still have plenty of rabbit meat left from lunch today!"
Mother Song said this and turned to walk towards the kitchen.
"Well, I'm going to give Xiaoyu a bath."
Chen Xiaoru responded.
Mother Song paused, turned around and pointed to an inconspicuous little house in the corner of the yard.
"That's the bathroom. Take Xiaoyu there to wash."
"Yeah, okay."
Chen Xiaoru nodded, and the two of them walked towards the kitchen together.
Chen Xiaoru quickly prepared the hot water and took Xiaoyu's hand into the bathroom.
"Xiaoyu, do you want your sister to help you wash?"
Chen Xiaoru squatted down, looked at Xiaoyu gently, and asked softly.
"Sister, no need, I can do it myself." Xiaoyu shook her head, her little face full of seriousness.
Chen Xiaoru touched Xiaoyu's head lovingly and put the clothes neatly aside.
"Okay, call me sister when you're done washing."
"Okay, I understand, sister."
Xiaoyu responded obediently, her voice soft and sticky, just like a docile kitten.
Then Chen Xiaoru took her clothes and left.
